Chapter 12 - Getting a MechCar

[User has special items that can fuse… Fusing… Complete.]

Tier 1 Citizen: This symbolizes all who call themselves citizens of all universes. T-1 Citizens are the gears that turn the wheel of civilization. They can show up instantly and become a pillar in the community and then leave just as soon as you have prepared a party to celebrate them.

Despite the items fusing, he didn't feel any different. "So it is just shrunk to 1 item instead of being 5. Oh and it allows me to combine the weapons, nice! I can turn my rod to either a magic rifle or a magic pole arm. Even having a final form of an artiller cannon."

But that didn't matter as it would still only be for display, as a Citizen can't really fight. Though maybe it gets better? It isn't like all Tiers are just there to exist and get in the way.

[Draw a card?]

Haseo's watch started blinking. Swiping his finger across caused it to stop.

[Tier 2 Citizen card drawn. Updating Citizen test. Report to the DMV.]

The room shook for a bit before a wall opened up leading to an outside area. Going outside, Haseo found himself surrounded by parking lots and parking garages. A man in a suit ran up to him and started shacking his hands.

"Thank you for visiting! Please, please take your time. It has been so long since anyone has stopped by, we thought no one was left."

"No problem, though I thought this was a dmv. Are all these cars for people ahead of me in line? Please tell me!"

Haseo couldn't be in a public space anymore, he was freaking out. He suddenly felt a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry, no one is ahead of you. I just hope people will be behind you though. We need the tourism."

"Haha, thanks. So no one here but the two of us?" Haseo was expecting to here there were many and he was just being hopeful. But a smile that wasn't a smile appeared on the face of the suited man.

"Yes.. I was the only one who decided to keep the business running. Mostly cause all places require at least one permanent resident. Anyways, please check out all of the cars here."

Haseo looked around and gave up counting all of the different cars he saw. Not one of the cars repeated and all are unique.

"Of course you should know this is just buying your MechCar for the driving test. If you pass you can keep the MechCar of course, but don't struggle with something out of your league. Pick something you can pass with and just save up money for the MechCar Gatcha."

Haseo thought back to his Platoon Days, he wasn't really living. Granted they were all dead but he wasn't enjoying his life, so he was wasting his existence.

"It is a good thing I guess, that I was thrown away like trash. This place better suits someone like me. I also couldn't learn 49 names with faces." Letting out a long sigh he started to follow the suited man into the dmv building.

"Alight kid, your MechCar has 5 parts. The first part being the fuel. These things might be the go kart of mechs, but they take a special fuel. Burning this fuel type allows the MechCar to travel freely in any terrain. Doesn't matter if it space, land, and water. You go the same speed."

"So I can just blast off into a wall and find my highway or something? Can't I just drive off the parking lot?"

The man looked left and right and nudged close to Haseo and whispered to him. "Yo man, you trying to get that good stuff? Fair man, I know the struggle."

Haseo felt an aneurism coming along. "What?" Haseo couldn't respond for some reason. The man pulled out a coffin and tossed it to Haseo.

"Congrats for picking the MechaCar Series: Coffin MechCar. This cuts all cost possible from your tech. Though it was the most cursed item I had on me.. not that I was trying to scam you or anything dude. Items are good, horrifying curse or not ya know?"

The man's speech caused him to keep his mouth shut and just grab the coffin, turning into a thick key fob. "But the curse thing isn't even that serious."

"Like sure, if you were scared of living with zombies hunting you forever through all time and space, you might not like it." The man started scratching his stomach.

"Ah, you know what, I did scam you. This thing has been eating all the other stored items. We will all be in trouble if we didn't give you this item."

"Please, stop talking. Let me think." Haseo broke out of his stupor, something must be in the air he thought to himself.

"Need to get back on track. Let me just find the right manual, ah found it." Haseo has plugged the key fob into his suit and found what he needed to know.

"So zombies for fuel, space is covered in mist and fungus, and MechCar that drives on road sets."

In the most basic way of stating all the information was: Using the key fob, can call the MechCar and a clone of the user. They travel in a zombie apocalypse to collect fuel from zombie MechCar racers.

The zombie apocalypse they travel in, is like a special sub dimension. It shortens the distance needed to travel but it spawns zombie infection in all clones.

Once a clone was infected, it would become a infinite spore summoner. Or rather a Lich that could spawn MechCar Zombies in hordes.

If one of turned into a zombie, you will have a 24 hour cooldown. If you try to replay during this time, you have to play as a MechCar Lich.

"…this is cool! But terrifying, I don't have any real weapons!" The suited man started picking his nose and flicked something onto the ground.

"Don't worry kid, let me take you to the exit. Oh another special thing about the curse. You can't pick anything else. So you have to pass on this MechCar.

Haseo climbed into a 2 seater car. It might of been a sports car, he had no clue about cars.. Plugging his key fob into the MechCar, it shifted into its Mech form.

It was pretty basic. There was no head and the arms and legs were only made to help the Mech unit run safely. The chest was a thick frame covering the cockpit.

"Another thing kid, plug your weapons into those slots and it activates it for your Mech form." Plugging it in, and nothing really changed. Just now the holsters for the weapons were on the Mech form now.

"Alright kid now just go back to car form and drive through the city. Sounds easy right? You better watch out for Pedestrian Zombies!!! That is correct kid! Haha, dodge these slow innocent hordes of brain eaters."

It seemed zombies had rights just like any citizen would. If he hit just one zombie, he would be reset to the start.

"Of course you need to run over these guys in future events from now, but right now you have to prove you can be a considerate driver. We just have to make sure you can chose not to run over someone. In the future you might be needed to pick up a friend, would you want to run them over?"

The man kept talking and talking and before he knew it, Haseo was out driving in the MechCar form. There wasn't many zombies at the start. If he looked hard enough, he might spy one. But doing so has caused him to hit a wall and be sent back to the start.

"Zombies are starting to show up sooner and sooner." Haseo has gotten far but kept hitting zombies around corners. Now he was starting to see them at the start of the race.

Finally he messed up to many times and was brought into a zombie horde.

They tore into him and turned him to an undead. "I thought they wouldn't and couldn't bite me? What is this?"

The old man walked out onto the track and found Haseo. "You shouldn't be driving a car legally at all. But that is what the zombie form is about. You can now drive with any illegal mod you can find. Can't really bring a corpse to court for war crimes after all."

"I just want to drive my MechCar in peace! I don't care about being a zombie or not being one. Whatever allows me to have fun…"

Haseo got what he wanted. Now as a Lich Faction MechCar, he wasn't bothered by zombies any more. Rather if he ran over them now, he could just recruit them and not have to go to the start. "It seems only bad drivers can get these perks. It feels like I am cheating."
