Chapter 1 - “Who ordered wings?”

A disgruntled middle aged commander was overseeing a command center with a group of men and women who seemed barely out of their teens.

"Alright sailors, keep an eye out for anyone trying to enter our airspace! Though this is on the outskirts of the base, it is still the boonies."

In the command center, the walls were covered in flat screen tvs showing many different scenes.

Some were focused on showing only the sky while others were showing the distant forests and open plains.

However, despite the warnings of their commanding officer, the sailors were focused on one screen on particular.

"The Flood Queen is really letting loose out there. I am glad I didn't choose to be in any navigation training. Or I bet I would be sleeping at work today."

"Hahaha, Smith, you really rubbing this in my face? Just because I made fun of your naming of her mech armor."

A mech armor was like a second skin for the residents of this planet. Standing at 3 meters in height, this suit of armor allowed one to demonstrate superhuman feats.

The Flood Queen's mech armor was design to be infantry for the coast guard. Opening up debris for smaller rescue boats to enter flooded areas.

However, because of funding reasons, they needed to rely on the navy's resources. This came with upgraded air capacity that allowed for missions in the ocean.

Another addition was a thick 2-handed sword called 'River Door'. Named so for its ability to rend the land and 'open' a door to summon a river.

A secondary application is having it attached to the back to turn the user into a speeding river. Though with all these upgrades, it become unable to do it's originally mission and was fully transferred into the navy.

While most of the sailors were enjoying the Flood Queen destroying acres of land, there was one sailor watching her screen.

It wasn't because she was diligent, she was just sick seeing the mech armor. She has spent the last week at work, because she was the newest person in the maintenance division.

All the older sailors just tossed the manuals at her and went out drinking. Having her 10th cup of coffee, she was jittery and constantly closing her eyes.

Staring at the blank sky on the screen was not helping her stay awake. She dozed off for a few seconds and only managed to wake up as hot coffee spilled on her.

Standing up and screaming, all eyes went over to her. The commander glared at her. "Shipmate, is there a reason you are screaming right now?"

She blushed and looked down. If she admitted to dozing off, it would probably be another week or more before she got to go back to her barracks.

Lucky for her, or rather unlucky, a godsend came from the sky. Something flew past her screen and she stood at attention.

"Sir, something flew past my screen!" The commanders face changed and he stood up and started screaming. While doing so, he walked over to the screen.

"Battle stations! Unknown object from.. the sky? Dammit, Flood Queen, keep an eye on the sky. Reinforcement will show up whenever those lazy ass marines get here."

"Commander, permission to use my 'Charging Waterfall'? Since the enemy is coming from the sky, the chances of them dodging is slim."

"It seems to be only one unit so it is fine. This is the best time to test your accuracy, just make sure to land in the areas you have already flooded. Digging through the land uses up too much stored water."

Flood Queen only smiled as she attached her sword to her back. Sliding down to all fours, the sword flipped blade first andstarted to bend into a triangle arch.

Powerful jets of water shot from the handle and projected the Flood Queen forward. Her mech armor suddenly tilted upward and blasted her into the air.

"Target found and locked on! Ha, the idiot isn't even trying to dodge and is still falling straight down. He seems to want to go head to head!"

The commander was watching from the Flood Queens camera and felt something was off. However it was too late. "Flood Queen, abort!"

What was falling wasn't another mech armor, it was a full on 6 meter mech. Right before impact, the mech did a backflip and dodge the Flood Queen.

As they were leveled with each other the mech aimed cone shaped guns and blasted the Flood Queen to dust.

The command center went eerily quiet. The Flood Queen was filled with all the newest technology and could be considered the top of the food chain on the planet.

The commander took off his cover and placed it on his heart and shed a tear. "Gone so young and for what reason? Did we commit blasphemy for the sky devils to come down and dish out punishment."

The rest of the sailors in the commander center took off their covers and bowed their heads in silence and memory of the Flood Queen.

However a voice over their comms caused them to tense up. "Oh man, this is awkward. I thought you guys shot a missle at me. When I am making deliveries, it is such a common occurrence I didn't think it would be anything else."

The commander was drenched in sweat as he didn't expect the so called 'sky devil' to hack into the command so easily. Calling them sky devils was more like a slur and not their real name.

"I am sorry sir Hungry Ghost, I didn't mean any offense." Laughter sounded out from the radio causing all in the command center to be sick to their stomach.

"Please sir Hungry Ghost is my father! But for real, don't call me that. It is almost at the same level of offense when you called me a sky devil."

"Then what should we refer to you as?" The commander saw the mech on the wall screen was coming closer and closer to the command center. He knew they were not going to have a good time.

Dying wasn't bad, since all of them were in the afterlife anyways. Beings on the path of Naraka died all the time, it was something that was second nature to them.

However dying to fellow Naraka was different from dying to the other paths. Though the difference wasn't much, it was what happen before dying that was the issue. Though with Hungry Ghosts, sometimes dying wasn't enough to get out of their way.

The 5 realms of the afterlife were further diverted to make a total of 10. Naraka's and Hungry Ghosts were side by side, both existing in the Hell realm.

Being the lowest realm, most considered them to be pathetic and dumb. Sad souls who were destined to fail.

Only the residents in the Hell Realm knew this was just the higher realm beings being obnoxious.

Naraka beings were physically the strongest out of all the realms. They were also the most numerous. But they were destined to stay on planet.

Right above them was the Hungry Ghosts. Very few in number but they still could easily strike terror in all those of Naraka.

If they chose a liking or hating for an individual, they could choose to take them. Seeing the delay of the Flood Queen coming back, they knew they would never see her again.

"Ah my name isn't important, since people usually laugh at how weird my last name is. But my title causes terror and misunderstandings."

A long silence occurred as the Hungry Ghost kept delaying the time of giving them his name or title.

This caused them to worry even more. Was he here to steal them away from their planet and sell them as slaves or worse?

"Open fire!!" Missles and tank rounds suddenly came from behind the Hungry Ghost. The lazy marines stopped fooling around and showed up.

Seeing the unknown machine, they shot first and thought never. The Hungry Ghost simply flew out of the way and hell rained onto the command center killing all inside.

"Ha! You damn devils thinking you can just steal our people. We would rather die than let some little bitch like you-."

The Hungry Ghost aimed his cone shaped barrel guns at the tanks and trucks that shot at him and blasted them all to dust.

However unlike the Flood Queen, who still hasn't appeared, the sailors and marines appeared one by one as lighting struck the ground.

They were all unarmed and blankly stared at the mech as they spawned in one by one. After no one else spawned in, the Hungry Ghost started to speak again.

With a tone of no emotion, his voice was projected over a speaker to them. "I am just here to deliver some food. Could you all just calm down and tell me who ordered some wings from Solent Angels?"
