Episode 12: The Sword
"D**nit!" Kilr hissed as he tapped the keyboard angrily. Every effort to try and reach the outside world through the school servers failed. "Nerissa!" He muttered between gritted teeth.
He looked over to see Narci standing before the cabinet if swords. "Tsk! How long is she gonna keep standing there? It's already been ten minutes!" He pursed his lips together and looked at the laptop screen for a long while, "Damnit!!" He screamed as he slammed it shut.
His hands flew to his hair fully ready to pull it out but he stopped when he noticed Narci standing over him. He did not looked up an spoke nothing. For a while she just stood there till he felt compelled to speak, "What? Don't expect an apology from me. The world has fallen to s**t… I-- d**n!" He gripped his hair tighter as his eyes ran wildly. "I--" He was lost for words.
Narci bent down and pulled his arms gently away from his hair, to her surprise they were cold.
"My father would train me when I was little, we were always so close back then. Mom wasn't around so much because of her work at the hospital so we would have so much fun playing together. As I grew older things changed!"
"Dad stopped training me, mom said it was because I had outgrown the system but I knew she was lying. But I didn't bother dad much about it till one day he stopped seeing me and started avoiding me!"
"I didn't have any friends to when I tried out for the cheerleaders squad they didn't at first accept me but after seeing my flexibility and reflexes they took me in. Even though I wasn't really taken serious then I still craved a form of acceptance and gaining school popularity felt like the right way to go. But the rich girls were crap to other students, I could not stand it but I overlooked it anyway."
"I was sick of my life at home and school but that all changed when I met you on that basketball court. I saw one of those rich kids standing there with everything I wanted, popularity, friends, money. But this rich kid didn't want any of it because it didn't matter."
"A while back I confronted my dad and he told me the reason why he hated me was because of this!" She unzipped her jumper to show a shirt white top reaching down to her navel.
Kilr looked at her chest and nodded proudly. "Because you have big boobs? Wow that's sort of harsh!"
"No you idiot!!" She screamed at him.
Kilr smiled at her, "It's because you're a girl isn't it?" She nodded with a straight face. "The world we are in now doesn't care about all that s**t so forget about you d**n dad! You are not swinging that sword for him but for yourself!"
Narci's eyes teared up as she threw herself on him and hugged him. "That's the first time I have ever felt so encouraged in my life."
Kilr felt awkward being hugged by her since he hated hugs. "Now teach me how to use a sword, you Shinobi!"

It felt oddly light in Kilr's hands. He followed Narci's words as she instructed.
Kilr knew it was impossible to become a master swordsman in a night. Swordsmanship would take years to hone, at least that's what he read in books. All he wanted to do was get familiar with a sword.
Narci thought him how to properly hold a sword and swing. He also learned how to position himself in the right stances for offence and defense. As tedious as it was Kilr loved learning something new besides playing with a sword had always been his life long dream.
It was around a few moments after when their notifications lit up
"Oh boy!" Kilr whined.
They did not expect anything good from it.
