"What were you thinking, fighting a wizard saint while having no access to your magic at all. Were you purposefully trying to kill yourself. And how could you even think about risking your life on an armour you have never used before"
Laxus had found out about what had happened due to the investigations done by Freed after coming back to the city and the reports about how Karna had fought while in a dangerous situation had only angered him more than ever.
"This is all because of that Old man becoming weak. His weak-minded thinking had weakened the guild by so much that you had to fight even when you were injured."
"Laxus please calm down!" Karna replied while smiling a bity at the scolding he was receiving
"Don't try to talk back Karna!, most of the guild was fighting worthless minions while you had faced off against the S class wizards among them. You even had to jump in the middle of the fight and rescue Mira who was pathetic enough to get caught as a worthless hostage because of her- "
"LAXUS!!" Karna raised his voice indicating Laxus that he was crossing the line.
Laxus stopped talking and calmed down. Seeing that he was at fault this time.
"Laxus don't forget the guild members are our family, and I am sure that if I was in a situation where I was in danger, no matter the condition you are in, you would have come thundering to make sure I was safe"
Laxus grunted when he heard that.
"No one insisted on me fighting Laxus, they had planned to keep me on the sidelines, but I insisted that I wanted to fight, and I had a way to do so, and I am resting because of Granny, and you know how she is,
Don't worry I am actually completely safe, right now this resting is only to recover the magic that I had lost before the fight on a mission and trust me Laxus there is no problem"
Laxus kept quiet as he took in everything that Karna said. Even though everything that was said made sense, the inner ego and the worries that he had did not allow him to see it clearly. He angrily stood up and went away.
"Don't you dare do something as risky as this again, you understand me" Laxus declared and without even waiting for a reply, forcefully closed the door and angrily marched away leaving three of his members alone with Karna.
They did not follow Laxus as they knew that he wanted to be alone right now.
Seeing Laxus's behaviour, Karna sighed and Freed Replied
"Please don't misunderstand Karna, he was just worried about you because of the past injuries you had had"
"Yeah, the big guy loves you a lot you a lot you know, he just can't speak out loud cause he's shy" Bixlow commended in a joking manner which earned him a stare from both Freed and Evergreen which forced him to cough to dispel the awkwardness.
Because of following Laxus, the thunder legion has a slightly aloof attitude with the other members of the guild most of the time, Karna is the only one with whom they talk in such a manner as they regarded him as Laxus's little brother.
"I know that guys, I have been seeing his tsundere attitude since he was a child" Karna spoke while laughing a little, then suddenly his expression turned serious.
"Freed, I found rune magic spread all across town in many different places, mind telling me what it is about" the moment these words came out, the thunder legion froze and Bixlow and Ever turned their heads as they could not bear the look Karna was giving them.
Freed was shocked that Karna had found the runes written by him as they were heavily hidden, but thinking about it for a moment and seeing that he was in front of one of the strongest as well as the youngest S class wizard of Fiore, he calmed down as he knew that he was discovered but he felt like he can still cover up the situation that Laxus had been planning for years.
"those are kept in case of any attacks happening in the town, if the number of enemies increases, we can use the runes hidden in the town to our advantage" Freed justified his actions while Bixlow and Ever nodded agreeing with him
After talking for a few moments, they said goodbye to Karna and went back.
"whew, we almost got caught" Bixlow sighed
"The chances there that he has suspicions about the reason we gave him, but he will not be able to deduce the actual plan Laxus had decided to implement" Freed commented
"Hey Freed, are you sure we should go with this, the chances of a few of them dying are high right" Bixlow asked a bit worried
"We only need to listen to Laxus and nothing more" Ever Commented on the side. Even though she was also feeling a bit worried as even with their aloof nature, they had formed bonds with many members of the guild and after the execution of Laxus's plan, the chances of those bons being broken permanently is very high.
"We already decided on who we should follow, so don't lose your determination now" Freed commented and then began walking without saying anything more.
Seeing this Ever And Bixlow too went back to their homes.
While this was happening, Karna who was currently resting had known about everything they were planning.
"I thought there might be a chance for Laxus to be not that extreme because of my influence but guess I was wrong"
Karna knew about the attack that Laxus will plan against the whole Fairy tail and had prepared for it before.
He activated the spell and destroyed a small spell circle that he himself had created before. His magic had recovered so he decided to do some light training and stimulate its recovery. And so, he decided to practice dispel which will help him fight against the runes on the day of the battle.
"Still not enough to beat Freed's level of runes" Karna muttered as he began to draw the next magic circle to dispel.
