Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Normal Days(Rewrite)

Days in the guild have been going well lately. Cornelia's disease had been severe, but it was cured—though at the cost of her never being able to give birth to another child or use magic again. However, they were so grateful she survived that they didn't mind the price. Gildarts bought a home in the city for them, and even though he still goes on long missions, he always makes sure to return to them.

Cornelia joined Fairy Tail as a receptionist, but she also takes a few classes with Porlyosika in basic medicine. Cana wanted to join the guild too, but to officially become a member, one must be at least five years old. My case was a bit special.

At the moment, I was handling a small hunting quest—just a basic beginner-level task that involved hunting a few rabbits for a household in the city.

When I spotted a rabbit at a distance of about 50 meters, I materialized my bow. It was golden with a silver string and had the added effect of absorbing light, making it non-reflective and harder to notice.

After getting my bow, I realized that almost all the anime depictions of archery were inaccurate. Using a bow requires immense strength, and when you pull back the string, the string's length remains constant while the bow itself bends. That's where the arrow's power comes from.

As I noched a sharp, ordinary arrow, I noticed the effects of my gloves—they slightly increased stability, providing more accuracy and power. It wasn't a significant boost, but for a novice archer like me, it was a great help.

I pulled back the arrow, taking a deep breath. Concentrating intently, I simultaneously kept an eye on my surroundings using magic sense. This multitasking took a lot of practice and mental strain, but I felt like I was improving.

When the rabbit lowered its head to eat grass, it was the perfect moment—when it let its guard down. I exhaled slowly, releasing the arrow. It struck cleanly through its head and disappeared. Since I had imbued the arrow with a bit of magic, it didn't persist for long after hitting the target. The rabbit died instantly and without pain, just as I intended. I know it's hypocritical to feel this way while hunting, but I at least try to ensure my kills are quick.

I drained the rabbit's blood and delivered it to the client's house, receiving payment for the quest. However, I had to give the money to Gramps for safekeeping until I turned at least seven years old. This was one of the conditions for me to undertake quests, and I was only allowed to complete two beginner-level quests per week.

When I returned to the guild to report on my quest, Cana came running up to me.

"Did you do it?" she asked excitedly.

"Yeah, I did. It wasn't that hard," I replied.

"I wish I could go too," she pouted. Despite having a decent amount of magic due to being Gildarts' child, she hadn't discovered her magic yet.

"Cana, have you tried card magic?" I asked, giving her a little nudge.

"No. Is it cute?" she asked. Ah, to be a carefree child without too many worries.

"Well, it is—if you can use it well."

"Hmm, I'll ask Dad to bring some cards next time. Come on, let's go meet Gramps."

She grabbed my hand and started dragging me along. Being the only two of the same age in the guild helped us become fast friends. Even though Laxus wasn't particularly interested in meeting her, he at least talked to her a bit without getting angry, which was progress.

Man, Laxus really needs friends. I hope the Thunder Tribe shows up soon.

"So, you completed the quest?" Gramps asked as we reached him.

"Yeah. The client was happy too," I said, placing the completed quest paper on the table.

In a way, life has been peaceful recently. There haven't been any major problems we couldn't handle, and the guild members have been on their best behaviour—probably because of Granny.

The guild recently held its yearly S-Class wizard quest, as usual, but no one passed this time either. Macao and Wakaba were pretty down about it for a few days.

"So, how's your archery coming along?" Gramps asked.

"I'm improving, but I still need a lot of training to perfect it."

"Well, I won't tell you not to train and get stronger, but don't forget you're still a child. Make sure to enjoy life too."

"Yeah, Gramps."

Meanwhile, in the mountain regions of Fiore...

Damn them all, Ivan thought bitterly.

He had narrowly survived Makarov's attack by releasing his magic at the last moment, but he was still severely injured. His wounds had begun to affect his magic, and the disappearance of the Fairy Tail mark had weakened him further.

He knew these injuries would set him back by years, but he vowed revenge. No matter how long it took, he would return and exact vengeance on all of them. And he would make sure to obtain the power that child Karna had displayed—by any means necessary.

On Tenrou Island...

Hmm, it's been a few years since I named that child. Should I go and see how he's doing? Since he technically carries my name, I guess I can consider him like my child, right?

A/N- hope you like the rewrite and every 100 powerstone gets extra chapter of Jason.
