The Mate She Chose

"Are you asking me to be your mate? Why should I Say Yes? Why should I help you?" Wyatt inquired, his tone skeptical. "I can help you find out who killed your mate," I responded, although I secretly felt a twinge of unease, unsure if it was truly the answer he needed. Wyatt stared at me silently for a long time, then nodded and said, "Deal." Just as I was about to leave the room, he suddenly asked, "I heard you'll be turning 18 in a month. What if you choose me as your mate now, only to discover that your true mate is someone else?" His question caught me off guard. I really hadn't thought about that. But... I smiled and replied, "I'll turn him down. Anyways, you're the mate I choose."
