Hazel was bathed and dressed in a lovely white gown, completely different from the rags she was now used to wearing. She kept her sight on the desk where makeup was, scanning for anything she could use as a murder weapon. Her eyes were on a particular hairpin, which she thought was perfect for her plan to kill her alpha.
If anyone could read Hazel thought they'll think she's insane.
An omega killing the alpha, in what universe?
Oblivious to Hazel thought, Kayle attempted to put makeup on her face, but she tilted her head to the side.
"I don't need it."
"You don't need it... seriously? You really think the alpha would be able to look at your ugly face when you're under him?"
This statement caused Hazel frown. She was disgusted that kaylee could be go vulgar. This expression didn't sit right with Kayle and she was about to raise her hands to hit Hazel, but then she remembered she was supposed to make Hazel look pretty so she hurriedly put it down.
Kayle then took a hairbrush which was just right beside the hairpin Hazel was eyeing and walked to Hazel's back, brushing her hair as she spoke.
"Let me use this chance to advise you. Try as much as possible to win the alpha's heart. It might make your life easier, and if you're lucky, he could make you his mistress."
Mistress? Hazel couldn't help but chuckle.
The alpha wouldn't be making anyone his mistress. Not after tonight.
"Anyways, I'm sure your night with him is going to be a one-time thing, so don't cling on to false hope. Omegas are worth nothing and should only look downwards. Aiming high is just a fool's dream," Kayle said, and Hazel burst into laughter.
"What? You think this is funny?" Kayle asked with a frown.
Hazel then stopped laughing and replied with a mocking grin, "You know, you really should keep your advice to yourself, and say it every time you look in the mirror. You're making yourself look like an idiot in front of Malcolm."
"Its pathetic to watch."
Kayle's eyes widened, and she was speechless. surprised as to where the submissive Omega had gotten the guts to speak to her in such a disrespectful manner.
"You bitch!" Kayle yelled.
"You lost your tongue for a second there, are you good?" Hazel said, her aim to provoke Kayle into a fight, take a beating, or dish one out for once, using the chaos to steal the hairpin.
At this point, it was hard to get scared of anything really. She thought her situation to be worse than death, and in front of death nothing else really mattered.
Not Kayle or her damned mother.
"Have you lost your mind?" Kayle asked, but Hazel ignored her and continued,
"You should stop being delusional, I mean, its pretty obvious the beta isn't interested in you yet you keep acting like a slut, it's pitiful," Hazel insulted, and now Kayle limit was far breach. She raised her hands about to hit Hazel, this time for real, but luckily someone walked in, stopping her.
"What's going on here?" A voice questioned in a commanding tone, and Kayle was forced to stop. It was an enforcer, and his presence prompted her to hurriedly turn away from Hazel and bow towards him.
An enforcer is one of high status who worked closely with the alpha, to protect the pack. Usually they tend to be busy, but this one isn't as he had been assigned with escorting Hazel to the alpha's quarter.
Free from Kayle's sight, Hazel took the hairpin and tucked it under her dress, before rising up as well and turning towards the enforcer with a bow.
The enforcer then turned towards Hazel, staring at her from head to toe before he spoke.
"Are you Hazel?"
"Yes, sir," she replied politely.
"Follow me," he said gruffly, turning away, and she followed, ignoring Kayle who gave her threatening looks.
She had successfully acquired the weapon she need; so now she needed to worry about enduring the curse of the seal, just enough to kill her alpha.
While they walked, Hazel could hear muttering from the enforcer, and from what she could hear, he sounded displeased being with her.
"You know, you should speak your mind, instead of whining like a kid," Hazel said. It was totally unnecessary, and brought attention to herself, but she was anxious and talking seemed like an outlet to relieve her stress and frustration.
"It's none of your business," the enforcer replied, less aggressive than she expected.
"Cranky much," Hazel commented, not really sure what her aim was.
"And who's fault is that? Because of your stubborn ass, I've been forced to wake up, to come escort some lady,"
"Well, don't blame me, if your horny alpha hadn't summoned me, you would have to deal with my stubborn ass, now would you?"
He furrowed his brow looking equally confused and surprised. There was also a hint of curiosity mix with it.
"What's with the silence?" Hazel asked gazing at him with sudden focus, and he spoke.
"Well, ever since I've ever escorted your kind. I've never heard a slave talk about the alpha in such a manner, something about getting burnt by a seal?"
"That's not how it works, it only activates when you think of harming the alpha,"
And as soon as she said that, an image of stabbing the alpha with a hairpin appeared in her mind and triggered the seal. She groaned, holding her shoulder, and the enforcer moved to help her but stopped himself. Touching Hazel would be dumb as Levi would scent him on her and that would put him in trouble, so he kept his distance.
"Are you alright?"
"Shut up, this is your fault," Hazel snapped, clutching her shoulder.
"Geez, cranky much," he said with a hearty grin, and Hazel rolled her eyes, shaking her head at him using her line she used seconds ago.
"You're also pretty chatty for an omega, as most of your kind fear having any conversation with an enforcer or anyone of high status like we're some monster,"
"Well, a lot of you are, and like other omegas, I wouldn't be talking to you if I wasn't trying to calm my nerve," Hazel said, closing her eyes and taking a calming breath.
"Is it working?" he asked.
"No, you're a boring ass," Hazel said with a half-smile and he chuckled.
"By the way, I'm Brandon,"
"I didn't ask for your name," Hazel said, partially for the sake of just being rude, and half because she knew who he was, thanks to her fellow omega gossips. Before Levi became the current alpha he had to kill his father and the beta, and Brandon was the beta's son, rumored to have aided Levi in his coup, which Hazel was now finding hard to believe.
Despite her attitude towards him, she could sense no trace of animosity or arrogance in his eyes, which was quite different from all the monster's she had been unfortunate to meet. Surprisingly...
