As the shadows lengthened and the tour came to an end, Kifayat and her friends stood at the place where they started their journey, holding the gifts she has gotten from random strangers. Despite all the suspiciousness, she can't deny that she was happy after receiving the presents.
Seeing it was almost the time of bus to come, their group started walking towards the bus stand. As they were walking, they seem to hear someone's calling. At first they were a little doubtful, then turned around to see.
They saw the little tea boy whom they saw in the morning running towards them.
Rafi stopped in front of Kifayat, panting heavily. "Sister, that... please take the letter."
Kifayat looked at the boy asking what it is. Rafi felt guilty for lying in the morning. So this he told them the truth. Brother Arbaz also agreed.
"Sister, actually the person who is sending this letter to you is not a bad person. He doesn't want to show up in front of you because he is afraid that if he showed up the little bit of connection you had with him now, would not be there anymore."
"So he plans to be mysterious for the whole life."
"No! It's not like that. He also wants to meet you face to face but not now." Rafi didn't know how to explain.
"Seeing how eager you are to speak for him, you must know him very well, right. So you lied in the morning."
"Sister...I am sorry but I can't..."
"No need to feel pressured. I am not going to ask you about him. He can show up whenever he wants. I am not going to search for him anymore."
Rafi thought Kifayat was angry, wanted to explain something more but caught Kifayat's smiling face.
"Sister, you are not angry?"
"No, it's not the first time that something like this happened. Even if I was angry, it would be because of him, not you. By the way I have to go now. Hope to see you again if I get to study here."
Rafi nodded with a smile. When he was about to leave, Kifayat called him. "Wait a minute." Rafi stopped to listen. Kifayat handed him the letter that she had written.
"Give this to him. I have always kept my words."
Rafi was delighted and thanked Kifayat again and again. "He will be very happy, thank you so much sis."
Kifayat smiled. After saying farewell to Rafi, they boarded the bus.
The sun began to dip below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow through the city streets. Kifayat was lucky to have found a sit near the window. At this the time the street were full of hustle and bustle. Maybe everyone is in a rush to go back to their home.
As the bus launched forward, Kifayat reached into her bah and pulled out the letter that Rafi gave. Kifayat slowly unfolded the letter. The handwriting is unmistakably belongs to that person, neat and beautiful fonts but seemed to write in a hurry. As if he had too much to say and not enough time to write it. Kifayat began to read,
"Dear Kifayat,
Do you know how much surprised I got when I heard you came to find me!? I never expected that you would come this far just to find me. I know you are growing up now. You and yours friends coming here all by yourselves is very admirable, but please, be more careful in the future. The world can be unpredictable, and I would hate for anything to happen to you because of me.
Nevertheless, seeing you again brought me immense joy, though. You've always had a way of brightening up my mood, and today was no exception. However, the gifts I left for you secretly were simply to make you happy. I was not stalking you on purpose. Forgive me if I offended you anyhow. You can just consider them a congratulatory gift in advance from a senior to his junior school girl. You've always worked so hard, and I know you'll achieve great things.
I hope these small tokens bring a smile to your face and remind you that someone out here is always wishing you the best. Your happiness means a lot to me, and I hope you continue to find success and joy in everything you do.
Wishing you all the best,
Your pen pal
"
Kifayat carefully folded the letter and slipped it back into her bag. Leaning her head against the cool glass of the window, she watched the city blur past. The wind from the open window tousled her hair, carrying away the remnants of the day's stress.
As the bus continued its route, the gentle breeze enveloped Kifayat in a comforting embrace. A soft smile played on her lips as she closed her eyes, letting herself get lost in the wonderful memories of today.
