Chapter 9 - haircut

"Hey, Ishan, Can you please lend me physics homework."

"Also, have you done your math papers?"

"What did the teacher teach in last English class, Someone please help me!"

The classroom was very noisy. Just as being entered the classroom, Kifayat saw Ishan was surrounded by several people. When Ishan noticed Kifayat he looked like he has seen a savior.

"Well, Kifayat is here. You should ask her as you know she is the number one in class. I am only second."

Kifayat was not surprised to hear Ishan's sarcastic tone as he would always speak like this to her.

Kifayat is the number one high school, dominating the list all year round. In the same way Ishan has also been dominating the second position since Kifayat transferred to their class. She could somehow understand Ishan's mentality. Nothing is more scarier than a topper being suddenly ranked lower than before.

Kifayat approached Cyra to ask what is happening. "You did not see the notice group of our class this morning, right?"

"Is there a new notice?"

"Yes, Mrs Shen prepared a surprise test for us next week."

"So soon. Our class has started only a month ago. Is it because of the joint exam?"

"You guessed right. Mrs Shen said we will need to give exam after every month from now on."

"Then it's just a class test. Do they need to be so serious?!" Saba suddenly came from behind like a ghost.

"We are already in our final year of higher seconday school. Our entrance exam is supposed to be held in one year. Maybe that's why everyone is getting serious. It is quite nice to see."

It is still the time of spring,

the flowers are in bloom, the birds are singing outside, the sun is shining bright. None of these beautiful scenery could catch the eyes of these students their eyes are fixed on their paper, with their pen moving swiftly. Their seriousness gave her a lot of inspiration in her heart.

"Tsk~Kifayat do you know how you look?"

"Huh?"

"You look like a mother watching her children grow up."

"Pfft ~ Saba totally, I agree with you. Otherwise how can people think that this studying atmosphere is a good scenery?"

"Instead of making fun of me here, you should study as well. Next time even if aunty cut off your pocket money or confiscate your comics for your bad results I will not stop her."

Saba immediately became upright and begged for forgiveness.

At that moment Cyra asked, "By the way where is Lia? She didn't come today?"

"No, I have seen her a few minutes ago. Where did she disappeared now?" Saba started to look around.

Then Kifayat noticed her at the end of the corridor. "There she is. It looks like she is talking to someone."

As they approached closer, they also noticed the person whom Lia was talking to.

"Don't you think Lia has suddenly became very close to that idiot?" Saba pondered.

"Saba, his name is Asif."

"You also called him stupid that day."

"I didn't say his name stupid, I just defined his character."

"How is it different?" Cyra intervened. Kifayat gave Cyra a sideways glance. Cyra immediately shut up.

"Liaaaaaaaa, what are you doing with this idii.... I mean Asif?" Saba immediately changed her address when Kifayat pinched her.

Lia was a little startled. But seeing Kifayat she immediately went to held her hand. She looked very cheerful as if she has something to say. Kifayat noticed that Lia changed her hairstyles. And it was more pleasing than before.

"Did you have a new haircut? You look amazing today, Lia!" Kifayat exclaimed.

"Wow, I love your hair. It suits you so well. So this is the reason you didn't come to school with me today. You wanted to give us a surprise together, right." Cyra also added.

As expected Kifayat and Cyra noticed her change immediately. Lia had always liked her short hair, but she decided to try something new and got a perm. She also changed her hair color. She thought it looked cute and trendy, but everyone else seemed to disagree. Her classmates teased her, her parents also frowned.

She finally decided to change her hairstyle again. She went to a salon and asked for a simple bob cut with some bangs. She also dyed her hair back to black color. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled. She felt more confident and beautiful.

She couldn't wait to show everyone in the class.

As a result nobody in the class noticed her change. She went to Saba with anticipation. Saba was so in grossed in her video games that she totally ignored her.

She felt a surge of disappointment and left the classroom and then run into Asif.

"Don't you notice anything different about me?" she asked eagerly.

Asif immediately became nervous. He did not know what to answer for this. So he said while stuttering, "You look better." Not like the time he was scaring him.

Lia was pleased with his answer but still asked, " Did you see I just had a new haircut?"

He squinted and tilted his head. "Oh, yeah. You did. It looks... nice."

Meanwhile, Kifayat came.

"Thanks, guys. You're so sweet. I knew you would definitely notice, not like someone who is ignorant" Lila said while squinting at Saba.

"Wait, Did you change your hair? No wonder I thought you look different." Saba just now noticed.

Lia just ignored her. Saba also knew she did a mistake and apologized to her. While Saba was coaxing Lia, Asif approached Kifayat.

"Well Kifayat, Those guys came to meet me yesterday. I also got their number and asked for their name."

"They came to meet you?!"

'Yeah.." Asif was a little embarrassed to tell. Actually Asif met them the day Kifayat told him to get their number. He also told told them about him getting caught while sending the letter. They said it didn't matter but told him to wait. Also assured him they would meet with him soon and give him the number. Till then he was supposed to keep it a secret.

"So what is that person's name?"

"His name is Siraj."
