Nick's dad was yelling into the phone, "I told you to make a baby, but that doesn't mean you can skip work!" His voice was rough. "You think I don't know why you've been out for a whole week?"
Nick winced at the loud scolding, holding the phone away from his ear. Amelia, who was heating up pasta, could hear it too. "Nick, I told you. We can't keep doing this."
"Fine, Dad! I'll head to the office today," Nick answered, sounding bored.
He hung up just as Amelia pulled the food out of the microwave. "You're really messing up our image with our parents," Amelia complained, carrying a tray of warm pasta.
"What did I do wrong? They wanted us to get married. Do they think I'm a robot? I need time to chill and have fun with my wife," Nick shot back, sipping his coffee.
Amelia stopped in her tracks, making Nick turn to see why she wasn't responding. "What? Something on my face?" he asked.
