As their car approached the familiar fork in the road, a collective sigh of relief washed over the group as there were no signs of the ominous Suits. However, passing by the school revealed the relentless pursuit, with two figures in suits stationed there—one tall with brown hair and glasses, and another a short blond girl.
"Why are they at our school?" Courtney questioned, her gaze fixed outside the window.
"They're trying to find Katherine, asking about her friends and potential hangout spots," Thomas explained, keeping a vigilant eye on the suspicious figures.
"How do you know all this?" Courtney inquired, still observing the scene.
"I've been tracking them down ever since they came to my house questioning about Tierney," Thomas confessed, a confident smile playing on his lips as he glanced at Tierney.
"Will they harm our families?" Kristen worriedly asked, turning her attention to Thomas.
"No harm will come to your families. The Suits are only seeking information. They're trained to detect lies, so unless your parents are lying to them, they won't be harmed," Tierney reassured, her focus on the road. "I know this because I used to be one of them."
"That's cool! So, you can kick their asses?" Niall exclaimed, excitement radiating from him.
"Yes, but not as proficiently as Dean. He was the best Suit they ever had," Tierney admitted, recalling Dean, the one person she truly loved.
"Who is Dean?" Niall asked, eager to learn more.
"He was Katherine's father and Tierney's husband," Thomas answered, understanding the weight of Dean's significance.
"Yes, he left the Suits to be with me. Unfortunately, they killed him five years later," Tierney revealed, the pain of that memory still haunting her. "I've been on the run since, ensuring Katherine's safety."
"That's why you always avoided talking about my father," Katherine noted, her voice tinged with shock.
"Yes, I didn't want to remember that day," Tierney confessed, acknowledging the lingering trauma.
"What's the plan when we get there? Are we just hiding in an empty building?" Kristen asked, her attention still on her iPhone.
"We'll clean it up and make it livable," Thomas explained, sifting through his bag. "You guys need to inform your families that staying at home is no longer safe."
"But what do we tell them?" Kristen asked, still absorbed in her iPhone.
"Just let them know it won't be safe for you to stay," Thomas advised, continuing to organize his belongings.
"Alright, we'll head to my place first, even though they probably won't believe me," Courtney suggested, preparing for the challenges ahead. The car continued its journey, navigating the twists and turns of uncertainty as the group grappled with the imminent dangers that lurked in the shadows.
