"Calculate the time; the practical class at the school is about to begin. Let's see how much progress the young saplings have made recently," Sandaime murmured to himself as he glanced at the wall clock.
He decided to momentarily suspend his work, retrieved a crystal ball from his desk drawer, and activated the telescopic technique. Soon, the crystal ball displayed a live feed of the ninja school's playground.
On that playground, Kirito's Class A, under the guidance of their homeroom teacher Mitarashii Wasabi, was engaged in a practice battle. They formed seals, sparred, and then reconciled after the matches.
Among the spectators, Chizuru suddenly activated her Sharingan, then swiftly deactivated it, letting out a displeased snort.
"What's wrong?" Kirito, who stood nearby, inquired with curiosity.
Over the past two years, he had sparred with Chizuru frequently, with both experiencing wins and losses. In the last year, her chakra control and ninjutsu skills had improved dramatically, tipping the scales in her favor.
It was undeniable that the Uchiha possessed formidable strength. Since she had awakened her double tomoe Sharingan, her progress had been rapid.
Had it not been for Kirito's unique abilities, his capability to absorb natural energy, and the guidance of the senju clan, who had abundant resources like specialized training diets, medicinal baths, ninjutsu, illusions, and physical training, he might have fallen behind significantly.
The less fortunate rely on mutations, while the affluent rely on technology. Chizuru had both advantages. Her Sharingan, capable of evolving and mutating, combined with her status as the Patriarch's granddaughter, offered access to abundant training resources and valuable ninjutsu.
Uchiha Sasuke had experienced a challenging upbringing, primarily due to the Uchiha Clan's extermination. Otherwise, with his position as the Patriarch's son and his natural talent as Indra's reincarnation, he could have accessed extensive training resources and precious ninjutsu. He might have fallen slightly short of Itachi, but not by much.
"It's nothing, just annoying to discover that some nosy old man is spying on us again," Chizuru replied, her tone disgruntled.
Over the past two years, she had sensed this chakra presence on multiple occasions. After inquiring with her grandfather, she learned that it was a jutsu used by the Third Hokage to monitor the village.
Kirito had sensed this intrusive chakra as well, given his keen chakra-sensing ability. He was well aware that the Third Hokage used a telescopic jutsu in conjunction with sealing enchantments covering the entire village to surveil it.
While being spied upon was unpleasant, Kirito decided to endure it for the time being. He had acquired advanced sealing techniques under Mito's guidance during the past two years, such as the Elemental Seals, the Four-Element Seal (the one danzo used), and the Eight-Trigram Seal. He could potentially counter this surveillance, but he chose not to challenge it for now.
Confronting the Third Hokage about his intrusive surveillance might lead to unfavorable consequences. It was best to let it be and focus on his training and studies.
Mitarashi Wasabi's voice interrupted their conversation. "Tohsaka Kirito, Uchiha Chizuru, step forward."
"I hope you two can give me a more exciting match this time. Otherwise, it'll be another win for me, just like yesterday," Chizuru declared, a cold tone in her voice.
Kirito grinned and replied, "Don't worry, I've recently mastered a fascinating ninjutsu. You'll get to witness it firsthand."
On the other side of the field, Nawaki expressed dissatisfaction to Mitarashi Wasabi. "Sensei, why do they always get to fight each other? Can't I spar with them?"
He harbored a desire to engage in combat against Kirito and Chizuru. While he often trained privately with them, he rarely had the opportunity to spar against them during class.
Mitarashi Wasabi responded with a wry smile, "Do you enjoy losing so much? You're a heartless one, Nawaki."
Nawaki had matured significantly over the past two years, but he still exhibited a lack of discipline in class. His plea to spar with Kirito and Chizuru wasn't granted, and he needed a stern reminder to focus on his studies.
As Kirito and Chizuru prepared to face off once more, their classmates instinctively distanced themselves, knowing the intensity of their battles. Jealousy, admiration, and awe were evident in the expressions of those watching.
Having spent day and night together over the years, their classmates understood that Kirito and Chizuru operated on a different level. With the exception of Nawaki, no one in the class could rival them in combat.
Upon forming seals, they received the signal from Mitarashi Wasabi, and their duel officially commenced. Both swiftly hurled kunai at each other.
"Ding~"
The kunai collided mid-air, generating a sharp clashing sound and sparks that captivated onlookers.
Sparks flew.
As sparks ignited, more sparks followed suit.
"Ding ding ding~"
A series of collision sounds resounded.
Kirito and Chizuru swiftly caught the Kunai that bounced back and engaged in close combat at an extraordinary speed.
Their battle unfolded so rapidly that only Mitarashi Wasabi, Nawaki, the Inoshikacho trio, and a young girl with white eyes in the class could follow it clearly. The others could only perceive two blurred afterimages and a trail of electric light.
"Well, this level of speed is already on par with elite Chunin. It's been a while since we've seen them fighting, and both of them have made remarkable progress. They're truly formidable," Sandaime remarked as he watched the crystal ball's feed in awe.
However, he couldn't help but regard Chizuru with a touch of apprehension after hearing her earlier statement.
"Give it your best shot."
After a brief exchange, lightning danced around Qianhe's feet as she burst forward at an even greater speed, suddenly appearing behind Kirito and kicking him away.
Chizuru had honed her affinity for the Fire and Lightning chakras, allowing her to access the second chakra transformation, the Lightning Release. With guidance from a skilled Uchiha Jounin proficient in Thunder Release ninjutsu, she mastered the thunder flash, a secret technique that temporarily enhanced her speed by stimulating her body with lightning-chakra.
This secret technique's effectiveness improved as her mastery of Lightning Release deepened, leaving Kirito, also a practitioner of Thunder Release, envious.
Injecting a substantial amount of Thunder Release chakra at once could yield even more substantial improvements.
"Ah, your speed has increased once again. Are you sure about this? Your legs might not hold up," Kirito said, lowering his crossed arms that had protected his abdomen and offering a smile.
Powerful ninjutsu often came at a cost. Using Thunder Release chakra to stimulate the body's speed came with the risk of injury in the stimulated area.
After all, humans remained vulnerable beings. Even those who harnessed Lightning Release nature transformations possessed only limited electrical resistance and couldn't endure continuous shocks.
However, if Chizuru boasted a physique as formidable as the Third Raikage, it would be a different story.
"Hmph, I'll manage," Chizuru retorted coldly, forming seals rapidly with both hands.
"Raiton, go! "
An immense surge of electricity erupted from beneath her feet, racing toward Kirito at ground level.
In response, Kirito leaped into the air to evade the attack.
"Don't think you can escape," Chizuru declared, swiftly forming seals once more.
"Raiton, Thunderball!"
Numerous electrified spheres materialized and fired at Kirito while he was mid-air, resembling a barrage of bullets.
Kirito was struck by a multitude of electric orbs in an instant.
"Boom~" echoed through the area.
Kirito dispersed into a cloud of white smoke, leaving a piece of splintered wood to plummet from the sky.
Observing this, Chizuru swiftly scanned her surroundings with her double tomoe Sharingan, quickly identifying Kirito hidden behind a massive tree using a Body Replacement technique. She then watched him retrieve a summoning scroll and infuse it with chakra.
Sealing · The Art of summoning.
"Boom~" resounded.
The psychic technique sealed within the summoning scroll instantly unraveled.
In Kirito's hands appeared an iron rod wrapped in numerous iron wires.
The next moment, white lightning surged through Kirito's hands, rapidly extending throughout the entire iron rod.
"Two years ago, Kirito harnessed the power of thunder attribute chakra, and after intensive training, he gained a profound mastery over it, significantly enhancing his skills in wielding thunder attribute chakra.
With precise control, Kirito converted a substantial amount of thunder-attribute chakra into high-voltage currents, coursing rapidly through an intricately wrapped iron wire coiled around an enigmatic iron rod.
Chizuru observed Kirito, intrigue lighting up her eyes as she witnessed the unveiling of this mysterious iron rod she had never seen before.
Without hesitation, she swiftly performed a series of hand signs.
"Firebomb Technique, Fire Escape!"
Explosive fire bombs erupted from Chizuru's mouth, hurtling toward Kirito.
Kirito, with a confident grin, thrust the iron rod into the ground. A fine electric current flowed swiftly across the earth's surface.
In an instant, an abundance of black iron sand surged from the surrounding ground, coalescing rapidly in front of Kirito. It formed an imposing black iron sand wall, intercepting and neutralizing every incoming fire bomb.
"Magnetic Release!"
The Third Generation, who had been spectating the battle through a telescope, abruptly rose from his seat, his pipe dropping in astonishment. He recognized Kirito's ninjutsu as Magnetic Release, a source of pride among the Sand Ninja Village.
Mitarashi Wasabi, too, grasped the nature of Kirito's iron sand manipulation – Magnetic Release. She exclaimed in surprise, "Magnetic Release Ninjutsu! Kirito, is that your secret?"
Kirito's mastery of Magnetic Release was evident, and Chizuru's eyes narrowed as she attempted to analyze its intricacies to replicate it. Yet, despite her keen perception, she couldn't quite emulate Kirito's chakra flow.
"Magnetic Release? Well, close enough."
Kirito silently rejoiced. Though he didn't comprehend true Magnetic Release, his knowledge of electromagnetism enabled him to indirectly manipulate magnetic forces. By harnessing the electricity generated by his thunder attribute chakra and the iron rod enveloped in a web of iron wires, he could replicate its effects.
Mastering Magnetic Release required two key elements. First, a sufficient jounin level of chakra reserve was imperative to generate powerful high-voltage electricity. Second, exceptional chakra control and computational brain prowess were essential to manipulate magnetic forces skillfully.
Kirito had adequately met the second requirement but still lacked the chakra volume.
To compensate, he had integrated a small amount of chakra metal into the iron rod, bolstering the magnetic field's strength and reducing chakra consumption.
The battle was far from over, and Chizuru remained unwavering. She abandoned ninjutsu in favor of channeling thunder attribute chakra to accelerate her body. In a blink, she circumvented Kirito, unleashing a barrage of electrified attacks. Thunderbolts crackled with intensified power and incredible speed.
However, Kirito's enhanced perception, honed by long exposure to natural energy, allowed him to anticipate and counteract Chizuru's attacks effortlessly. He swung his iron rod, effortlessly deflecting the oncoming lightning bolts. Simultaneously, a wave of iron sand surged forward like liquid metal, aimed squarely at Qianhe."
"Magnetic Escape·Spray!"
Chizuru swiftly dodged, but her right foot suddenly became ensnared by an emerging hand of iron sand that shot out from the ground, firmly immobilizing her.
"What's your next move, Chizuru?" Kirito tightened his left hand, his gaze locked on Chizuru, who was about to be engulfed by the advancing waves of iron sand.
"Magnetic Escape·Hand of Imprisonment!"
Chizuru realized there was no escape and quickly formed hand seals, exhaling a torrent of fire in response.
"Fire Escape·The Art of the Fire Dragon!"
The fire dragon clashed with the waves of iron sand, causing a significant portion of the iron sand to liquefy into molten metal.
However, the earth's iron sand was virtually inexhaustible. Fresh layers of iron sand surged forth, completely engulfing the fire dragon, continuing its relentless charge towards Chizuru like an unstoppable torrent.
"Danger."
Mitarashi Wasabi swiftly recognized the peril and began performing hand seals.
At the crucial moment, a massive wall of water surged up from the ground, intercepting the sand to Chizuru path.
"Water Dungeon·Water Formation Wall."
The high-temperature iron sand collided with the water wall, generating a massive plume of steam. The impact force of the iron sand spray was significantly weakened, no longer posing a threat to Chizuru.
