When Qin Yuji woke up, it was already dark outside, and she was momentarily startled at the environment she found herself in.
It seemed to be a long-abandoned warehouse, with dozens of wooden crates of various sizes piled up not far away. The crates, weathered by many damp autumns and winters, sprouted dark green moss between their crevices.
Her hands were tied behind her back, and in her mouth was a rag, old and musty, that she bore despite the nausea it induced. She slowly sat up with effort.
As she moved, she felt a searing pain in her wrists. Qin Yuji cautiously twisted her wrists, checking if she could break free, while surveying her surroundings.
No sooner had she stirred than a sinister voice sounded from a few steps away, "I'd advise against wasting your energy. If you could free yourself, all these years my brothers and I have been operating would have been for nothing."
Following the direction of the voice, Qin Yuji saw the man and shuddered.
