Previously, Musheng had never even considered such a scenario. At this moment, Musheng didn't find it difficult to accept either, since after all, Xiao Keke could not possibly know her.
"If you're new, just do your job well."
The only odd thing was that Xiao Keke seemed quite indifferent to Musheng. At that moment, she simply tilted her chin up slightly in a somewhat haughty turn of the head and looked away.
"Don't mind her, she's just excited because she knows a film crew is coming to our internet cafe to shoot a drama," said Zhao Junjie with a smile, explaining to Musheng. Musheng understood that the reason Xiao Keke did not take to her at first glance must not be this, yet she still pretended to be curious and asked, "A film crew?"
"It's this woman—" said Zhao Junjie, pointing at the woman on the dog-blood drama playing on Musheng's screen, who was also the main target of the dramatic plot, the protagonist.
"Bai Miya, currently one of China's hottest actresses. She got famous from playing in a melodramatic soap opera, and although her popularity is high, her reputation is mixed—," Zhao Junjie commented, then smacked his lips, "But she's quite alright, I guess, just made her debut in the wrong drama. Without this one, though, she might not have become instantly famous."
Zhao Junjie spoke with some implications. It was obvious that he was the type who didn't follow entertainment news closely, so how could he know Bai Miya was a decent person? Especially considering Bai Miya's reputation had many black marks, this suggested that Zhao Junjie had met her in person.
However, considering he knew Xiao Keke, Zhao Junjie's identity must also be no simple matter, and it seemed Xiao Keke trusted him quite a bit.
But Musheng could not recall anyone with the surname Zhao among her acquaintances. After a brief moment of speculation, she let it pass, as it had nothing to do with her.
"Is it her new drama's crew that's coming to our internet cafe to borrow the place?" Musheng suddenly grasped Zhao Junjie's meaning. Zhao Junjie nodded, "They're going to pay, so why wouldn't Xiao Keke agree?"
"..."
Xiao Keke was not short of money, didn't Zhao Junjie know this? Was their understanding flawed?
Soon, Zhao Junjie waved his hands with a smile: "Alright, keep a good watch on the internet cafe. I'm going to keep her company, lest she starts finding fault again."
Musheng nodded, and Zhao Junjie walked over to Xiao Keke.
Xiao Keke had only come to take a tour and left, akin to an emperor inspecting his domain. But around lunchtime, Xiao Keke suddenly appeared again, soundlessly, this time at the counter.
Since there were two customers booting up their computers, Musheng did not greet her first. After sorting things out for the two people, she turned to Xiao Keke with a faint smile and said, "Boss."
Xiao Keke didn't show any anger at being neglected; on the contrary, her face seemed to lighten up a bit because of it.
"You're about to finish your shift, right?"
Musheng glanced at the time in the bottom right corner and nodded lightly, "Indeed, it's almost time."
Xiao Keke sized her up and down, "Actually, our internet cafe shouldn't have a break time during noon, but Junjie said you go home to eat lunch..."
Her words were ambiguous, and Musheng just gave a light smile. The deeply set eyes and light laugh softened the contours of her face, and Xiao Keke, gazing at her for a long while, suddenly froze before speaking with a mix of embarrassment and anger, "Fine then, finish your shift!" With that, she stormed off.
"..."
Where had she offended the young lady this time? Musheng couldn't help but think, inadvertently fostering the idea that all women were this unreasonable.
She also recalled the woman who used to be around her, who was... huh, even more irrational than Xiao Keke when throwing a tantrum.
Just as the last minute to clock out ticked away, a somewhat plump figure appeared at the top of the stairs, his eyes still bleary from sleep—it was one of the three web cafe admins she had seen last night, probably the 'Little Fatty' Zhao Junjie had referred to, much more silent than Tang Jiaqi and the others.
"Musheng, go off work, I'll take over from here." Little Fatty showed Musheng a simple and honest smile, and after she packed up her stuff, Musheng responded, "Okay, then I'm off work."
After saying goodbye to Little Fatty, Musheng quickly left the web cafe.
When she got home, Mo Yao had just finished cooking the meals, three dishes and one soup, all tasting and smelling fantastic, laid out on the table releasing a tempting aroma that made Musheng's mouth water endlessly.
"You're back? Wash your hands and let's eat." Mo Yao came out of the kitchen, still wearing an apron, the gentle and calm smile made Musheng tease, "You're getting more and more like a housewife, aren't you?"
Mo Yao was startled, then broke into a brilliant smile, her eyes curving into pretty crescents, "Yeah, I'm doing an internship in advance."
After their laughter and chatter, the two sat down to eat. While eating, Mo Yao suddenly suggested, "How about I bring it to you in the future? It's too much trouble for you to come back at noon."
Musheng paused for a moment, hesitating, "Wouldn't that be too much trouble for you?"
"Not at all," Mo Yao said as she picked up some food, her lips curling up, "I have nothing to do at home at noon. It's a good opportunity to see if your work is easy or not, plus I'll only come over at lunchtime."
Musheng thought about it, let Mo Yao do as she pleased; after all, she was the one getting a free meal, so just be grateful.
After dinner and a little rest, Musheng left for work. When she arrived at the web cafe, she was surprised to see a bunch of people bustling about on the first floor who were not there to surf the net, along with cameras and equipment scattered everywhere. Musheng could tell Xiao Keke had not given in to Zhao Junjie, and a film crew had come to the cafe for shooting.
However, Musheng glanced over the still-bustling first floor – they hadn't cleared the area?
Since the boss hadn't given any instructions, she couldn't make her own decisions. As she hadn't been told to take the day off, she naturally had to go to work. When Musheng reached the second floor, she saw Xiao Keke and Zhao Junjie talking to a man wearing a work cap and dressed in a dark blue crew neck T-shirt, Xiao Keke's tone of voice betrayed her frustration.
"I'll have you know, every machine in my web cafe is expensive! Be careful when you're filming, don't scratch or bump into anything!"
After finishing her speech, Xiao Keke took a big gulp of the juice she was holding and glared at the person before her; Zhao Junjie quickly pulled that person aside. Seeing Musheng had arrived, he urgently waved her over, "Musheng, come here, come."
Musheng pursed her lips, somewhat speechless—a bit unsure what they needed her for in this situation—but she still walked over.
The man in the cap also turned around; he was a middle-aged man of about forty. Upon seeing Musheng, his eyes suddenly lit up, "Ah, she'll do, she'll do! I've found my last character!"
"..."
Musheng's confusion and Xiao Keke's incredulous and raised voice followed, "What? No way!"
