"Okay," Ruan Jiaojiao nodded, hopped off her bed, and stepped into her cotton slippers before walking out.
Outside, Grandpa Shu was lying on a sun lounger padded with a thick quilt, with a bamboo basket brazier in front of him.
The brazier was woven from bamboo on the outside with a large porcelain bowl inside to hold charcoal. The size of the bamboo basket could vary according to need. The one in front of Grandpa Shu was the largest one in the house, warm enough for several people, covered with an old quilt.
Ruan Jiaojiao came out from the house and, instead of hurrying to wash her face and brush her teeth, she ran over to Grandpa Shu to act cute, "Grandpa, did you sleep well last night? Was it warm enough?" As she spoke, she stretched out her little hand to feel his hand resting in front of him. Finding it warm, she nodded to herself, "Hmm, very warm, Grandpa didn't catch a cold."
Watching the little one's actions, Grandpa Shu's heart truly couldn't be warmer.
