When Liuliu was tidying up, she noticed a cotton pad and her mouth twitched. This surely wasn't prepared by Xiaoquan and his mates, it must have been Xiaomei or Xiaojie, out of concern that she might come on her period.
After Xiaoquan and Xiaozhong returned home following the New Year celebration, Xiaoquan first went to Liuliu's parental home. He told them that his sister in-law and his nephew were doing well and that his brother was now a General, and his nephew a Colonel. They were all safe and sound. Liuliu's parents felt much relieved upon hearing this; they had been worrying all the time and now could finally set their minds at ease.
The family found out that Xiaotian was now a General and felt more at ease about Liuliu being with him. They were however dispirited when they learnt that no news had come from Xiaohui who had been determined to have died for his country. However, much like Xiaotian, they still held a glimmer of hope.
