Chapter 1 - 000

000: How Life Goes

Throughout his life, Kirai had found out that his family never truly cared for him; he was just someone that was invisible and not worthy of his family's attention. Being born in a horribly rich and renowned family, he has to at least reach the minimal standards that the family had set three generations ago, however, due to his illness and weak physical abilities, he became the lowest of the low that deserves to be rotting away in a dumpster.

"You don't deserve to be a part of this family!" His siblings revealed as their arms were crossed on their chests.

He, himself, admitted that he did not deserve to be staying the family, but he wished to still be loved and cared for―it was a pathetic and impossible wish, but his inner child wanted that. Every time he walked to school or back home, he would see his classmates and so-called friends, being loved by their parents and older siblings. Their smiles were full of joy, adoration and pure love, which is something that Kirai craved so much for. Deep down in his heart, he had a small fire of hope; hope that his family would not care about the standards that was set into the family, and would start loving him.

"You are a mistake," His father openly admitted with his dark eyes staring down at him with no emotions whatsoever.

That hope slowly started to diminish as his family no longer treated him like he was invisible, but now treated him like as if he was a soulless person that doesn't feel pain or emotions. Every time his older brothers and sisters feel frustrated or angered, they would take it out on him without mercy. His pleads and cries of pain was ignored by his siblings, and to them, the sounds of pain he let out were music to their ears. With how weak and vulnerable his body is, bruises easily littered on his skin and his bones were prone to be easily broken or dislocated.

"You are a shame to the family," His uncle jeered with an angered look taking over his face.

It wasn't a surprise if he easily cough out blood or have dark bruises being in contrast with his deathly pale skin. Every time he got injured, the maids and the family doctor would heal him, only for him to receive another session of endless beating. He could vividly remember the pain and agony he felt every time a punch was sent to his way, though the pain he felt mentally was an even greater pain.

"Truly disgusting and unworthy," His aunt sneered, looking at him like he was no longer a living being, let alone a human.

Honestly, he was surprised at how he is still alive and breathing. After all, he expected himself to shut down after only a month of the daily beating, but he found himself alive, yet hollow like a doll, after 3 long and excruciating years. Every breath he took was starting to be heavy and painful and every step he took to walk was proving to be stiff and difficult, as if he was walking on waist-length water. Unsurprisingly, his legs started to no longer move and function like they usually do, and there he was, laying down on his bed, unable to do anything. His lower half was paralyzed due to the illness not being treated properly and his skin got even paler, if that was possible.

"Useless and worthless," His younger cousin stated, downgrading him and uncaring of his emotions.

His chapped, blue-tinted lips looked horrible and his eyes has dark eye bags, showing that he had not been sleeping for a long time. He was sure that if he were to look at the mirror, he would think that he was a corpse.

"You're better off dead!" His stepmother yelled with a look that Kirai knew all too well.

Sighing, Kirai raised his right arm up as they tremor uncontrollably, showing that he was incredibly weak that he was unable to do any normal activities. Lowering his arm, he closed his eyes in defeat and wheezed out a breath, finding it hard to inhale and exhale normally. The migraine he had didn't subside for the past 3 days, which is annoying and painful, in his opinion. On the positive side, it meant that his body would no longer be able to hold on. The thought didn't scare him, in fact, it elevated him.

If he didn't kill himself first, then his body would automatically shut down. It's such a wonderful blessing. Before he knew it, his eyelids grew terribly heavy, making him voluntarily flutter his light grey-colored eyes close. The arms that were resting by his side ended up placed on top of his stomach as the pain in his stomach increased to a certain degree. Clenching his teeth and fists in pain, he tried his best to not let out any sounds of pain. He could hear and feel his heart pounding against his chest in agony―it was overbearing; too much for him to handle, and just then, his soul began to slip away.

"If only..." He whispered with a raspy voice before his eyes closed completely. His chest no longer rose up and down, and his expression of pain was no longer evident on his face.

"...I could receive love and a second chance."
