At a particular location in the vast Sahara Desert, a young man driving a rented off-road car stopped abruptly in front of an unidentified ruin. It was already abnormal to find a ruin in a vast and open land, more so that the ruin was unlike any other.
Although many pillars are destroyed, eroded by the making of time, there are few which seems to be on a relatively good condition.
The young man had a brown hair that has a gloss-like quality, his face is neither chiseled nor fat, slightly taller than average height with a slightly broad shoulders.
He wore a simple black shirt topped with a brown jacket, a loose-fitting pants, a scarf on his neck.
"Based on the map given by the locals, there isn't anything in this area…How come there's a ruin in the middle of nowhere?" Rigel muttered to himself.
Rigel was on his way to explore the deserted areas, intending to find items--to further his studies of a certain lost ancient human civilization. He had hoped to find artifacts on the excavation site.
Although finding artifacts or items that possibly carry the traces of civilizations further back in time isnt a common thing, in the wider scale, it isnt rare either.
When he came across something like a ruin in a good shape in the middle of a vast, open ground, his initial reaction was undoubtedly that of suspicion!
'How come that a ruin of this size and condition hadn't been documented and noticed by the locals yet?' Rigel thought.
Before coming to the endless, vast plain, Rigel was at the City of Merzouga, Morocco.
Many of the ruins founded have all deteriorated to the point that if not for a coincidental lucky encounter, they wouldn't be noticed.
Yet, this ruin is considerably big from the outside, and the entrance isn't in a bad shape, untouched almost.
'Regardless of the anomaly, nothing's going to stop me from entering there!'
Rigel swiftly exited the vehicle as he brought his backpack that contains all the needed equipment for the exploration.
Upon reaching the entrance, Rigel stepped in, his vision darkening as the light inside was dim. If not for the light that came from outside, he doubted whether he could see much.
He passed through the entrance, tracing his fingers as dust entered his nostrils, after a while, he flashed his flashlight.
After navigating his way downwards inside the ruin, Rigel had finally arrived in a spacious hallway. On both sides, many sculpture of strange figure was seen.
'What the…'
Strange statues was lined up on both sides of the hallway, giving the impression that they were guarding something at the end of the hallway. Some had an irregular-shaped humanoid form, and some had wings on their back, almost depicting an angel, if not for the fact that they have such bizarre fangs on their mouth. All of them are wearing an armor paired with a weapon. Some had humanoid qualities and some is just straight up non-human.
'What are these creatures?...Although they have qualties similar compared to other creatures in other mythology, these things are more bizarre-looking....not lacking in the aspect of assymetry....One ear far bigger than the other...Their faces depicts an expression of...madness?'
Whatever it is, Rigel was confident that he found something with great value. Although being an archaeology student, What he knows about archaeology obviously isnt comparable to that of experts on the field.
'When I'm done with exploring this site, I'll submit a report to Professor Kahn...I wonder if he knows anything about this...'
Professor Kahn is currently one of the most reliable person that Rigel knew, although he is a bit naggy when it comes to performance, he always had this enthusiastic energy that always seemed capable to make an effort to help students in their field.
Rigel slowly walked on the hallway, taking in the sight of ancient mystery until he arrived at another tall door engraved with strange spiral-like symbols.
'How should I open this door?...Is there a mechanism still able to operate in such ruin?...' Rigel thought after trying to push the door open, to no avail.
His hand wandered around the wall, tracing it to find if there is anything that can be pressed.
'It seems that there isnt any pressable mechanism on the wall...'
Suddenly, Rigel's foot stepped onto a tile that dropped a little. He was surprised, all of a sudden, the massive entrance opened from both sides. What lies behind the entrance is a path that leads distantly to a faint speck of light that seemed far ahead of where Rigel is standing.
Rigel had a lot of doubts in what was going on. An incomprehensible situation can very well lead to an incomprehensible outcome, or in other words, possible danger.
Rigel thought of himself as a very cautious person despite not showing it on the outside. When had he built this caution at some point in his life? He couldn't remember very clearly.
His raised foot that meant to take a step forward, froze for a second or two, before continuing to walk forward.
In this seemingly unending path, the light shone brighter the closer he gets.
The white light oscillated in a weird, wavy way similar to bodies of water in an ocean, like that of an indiscernible pattern, the shape almost resembled a door.
Closer, and closer.
The light gradually became too bright, Rigel needed to cover his eyes.
What could emit such intense light inside? He wondered.
As he got closer, he suddenly felt an invisible force immobilizing his body.
Rigel tried to, but couldn't move every limbs of his body.
'Its dragging me closer-!'
Rigel felt the whole surroudings changed, he tried to open his eyes but he could neither see nor feel anything. Rigel can only incomprehensibly felt that he is already past the door made of light.
Bit by bit, his mind turned hazy as his ability to think turned more sluggish.
Before Rigel passed out, he could hear a faint, bizarre-sounding words entering his ears.

Soon after, his eyes and consciousness had shut down.
