Chapter 26 - Thunder Golem

The next phase of the Lightning Trial introduced Thunder Beasts—majestic astral creatures charged with lightning energy. Their presence elevated the intensity of the trial, and we could feel the static energy in the air.

But before that, we encountered a forging stone and a batch of healing orbs. We healed some of our wounds. Then Rowan forged a perfect bow weapon for himself, utilizing the mystical properties of the forging stone.

The vibrant astral energy infused the bow, enhancing its durability and imbuing it with the power of fire. Rowan inspected his newly crafted weapon with satisfaction and a glint of determination in his eyes.

I, too, took a moment to benefit from the forging stone. Channeling astral energy into my staff, I enhanced its capabilities for the trials that lay ahead.

Finally, we reached the Thunder Beasts arena.

The electrified arena crackled with energy as the Thunder Beasts, colossal astral creatures wreathed in lightning, confronted us. Rowan and I braced ourselves for the impending clash, determined to overcome these formidable adversaries.

The Thunder Beasts unleashed a barrage of astral lightning bolts, creating a dazzling display of luminous arcs in the air. Rowan swiftly notched an arrow infused with void energy, ready to disrupt their attacks. Through my staff, I emitted a reflecting shield that countered the intense astral lightning.

"Stay close, Magnus. We need to time our movements," Rowan shouted.

I nodded, summoning a protective astral barrier around us. The Thunder Beasts, sensing our presence, charged with a thunderous roar. Their attacks rained down, each bolt crackling with destructive power. Rowan and I moved in a synchronized manner, dodging and weaving to evade the relentless onslaught.

Rowan's arrows soared through the charged air, finding the weak points in the Thunder Beasts' astral forms. With each precise shot, he disrupted their coherence, causing momentary flickers in their luminous bodies. I contributed by unleashing controlled bursts of astral light, further disorienting the colossal creatures.

The holographic screen displayed a crucial update:

[SUCCESS: DISRUPTED THE THUNDER BEASTS' ATTACKS]

Seizing the opportunity, we pressed our advantage. The Thunder Beasts, momentarily stunned, became vulnerable to our combined assault. Rowan's arrows and my astral spells harmonized into a symphony of attacks that wore down their formidable defenses.

[SUCCESS: DEFEATED THE THUNDER BEASTS]

As we ascended toward the summit, the challenges intensified. The electrified air crackled with tension, and the moving platforms became faster and more unpredictable. Rowan's agility and my astral manipulation skills were put to the test as we leaped and maneuvered through the electrified obstacles.

Suddenly, a massive thunder golem emerged, blocking our path to the summit. Its imposing figure crackled with astral lightning, and its eyes glowed with a fierce determination to defend the Crown of Eldoria.

Rowan, gripping his newly forged bow, and I, channeling the power of the astral realm, prepared for the final showdown. The holographic screen displayed a daunting message:

[FINAL CHALLENGE: DEFEAT THE THUNDER GOLEM TO PROGRESS]

As the Thunder Golem loomed before us, I swiftly created a spatial realm, a pocket dimension where Rowan and I could strategize without the looming threat of the electrified arena.

Rowan glanced around, clearly impressed. "Spatial realm, huh? That's a neat trick, Magnus."

I nodded, my mind racing with thoughts. "We need a plan for this final challenge. The Thunder Golem won't be an easy opponent. But what surprises me is the term 'final challenge' and the mention of the Crown of Eldoria. I expected more trials. This feels too sudden."

Rowan furrowed his brows. "You're right. We were geared up for a series of trials, and now it's as if everything hinges on this one battle. What's the significance of the Crown of Eldoria, and why is this the final challenge?"

I pondered the implications, a sense of urgency in my voice. "We need to win this, Rowan. The fate of the astral realm and possibly much more could be at stake. Let's make our strategy count."

Rowan's eyes narrowed with determination. "Agreed. But we need to be cautious. There's something about this situation that doesn't sit right with me. The abrupt shift in the trials. It feels like there's more to the story that we don't know."

I nodded in agreement. "Exactly. We can't afford to underestimate the Thunder Golem or the challenges that might come with the Crown of Eldoria. Let's focus on our strengths, coordinate our attacks, and be ready for anything."

Rowan adjusted his grip on his newly forged bow. "I'm with you, Magnus. We've come this far, and we won't back down now. Whatever awaits us, we'll face it together."

We exchanged one last determined look before leaving the spatial realm, prepared to take on the Thunder Golem and solve the mysteries of the Crown of Eldoria.

The Thunder Golem stood tall, crackling with astral energy as it prepared to face us. Its colossal form was adorned with intricate patterns that seemed to channel the raw power of the astral realm. Rowan and I exchanged a determined glance, silently acknowledging the magnitude of the challenge ahead.

The electrified arena hummed with energy, and the Thunder Golem's presence seemed to intensify the atmospheric charge. Rowan carved an arrow, his bow infused with void energy, while I conjured astral spells, forming protective barriers around us.

The Thunder Golem unleashed a surge of lightning, aiming to disorient us. Rowan skillfully evaded the bolts with acrobatic maneuvers, his agility proving crucial. I channeled my astral energy to create a shield, deflecting the electrifying onslaught.

Seizing the opportunity, Rowan unleashed a wave of arrows imbued with void energy. The arrows punctured the Thunder Golem's astral exterior, creating cracks. I followed up with astral projectiles, targeting the weakened areas.

The Thunder Golem retaliated with a ground-shaking stomp, sending shockwaves through the arena. Rowan and I leaped to avoid the violent assault, landing gracefully to maintain our offensive stance.

As the battle intensified, the Thunder Golem summoned ethereal lightning constructs, adding complexity to the fight. Rowan expertly shot arrows, disrupting the constructs, while I utilized astral beams to create openings.

The climax of the battle approached, marked by the Thunder Golem charging its ultimate attack—a cataclysmic surge of astral lightning. Rowan and I exchanged a knowing glance, understanding that precise timing would be crucial.

I fiercely shouted, "Timing matters, Rowan. Let's do this."

With synchronized precision, Rowan unleashed a barrage of arrows, distracting the Thunder Golem and disrupting its concentration. Seizing the opportunity, I conjured a spatial rift, creating a temporary refuge for us to evade the impending onslaught.

The astral lightning surged, colliding with the spatial rift, creating a dazzling display of energy. As the echoes of the Thunder Golem's attack faded, Rowan and I emerged from the spatial refuge, ready to deliver the decisive blows.

Rowan's arrows reached their mark, exploiting the Thunder Golem's weakened state. Simultaneously, I unleashed a wave of astral energy, creating a focused beam that penetrated the golem's core.

With a resounding roar, the Thunder Golem dissipated, its astral essence dispersing into the electrified arena. The holographic screen displayed the victorious message:

[SUCCESS: DEFEATED THE THUNDER GOLEM]

Rowan and I stood amidst the dissipating astral energy, catching our breaths after the intense battle. I told Rowan to follow me to the summit.

--------------------------------------

As we approached the summit where the Crown of Eldoria awaited, a sense of accomplishment and anticipation filled the air. The electrified arena gradually transformed into a serene landscape.

However, just as we reached out to claim our victory, a forceful push from behind caught us off guard. The unexpected gust of air caused Rowan and me to stumble backward. Nyx, the trusted friend who had accompanied me through the astral realm, revealed her true intentions.

Pain surged through my head, a manifestation of the manipulation Nyx had planned. Memories flashed before my eyes, each image tainted by the realization that Nyx had deliberately altered my perception. The friendship I thought we shared crumbled as the truth unraveled.

I became furious as I lunged at her. "You witch! How dare you deceive me?" She stopped me using her chains and smirked, "Oh Magnus. You are so naïve. You shouldn't trust people blindly."

I tried to free myself from her grasp and said, "Then what about that one fight where I used your power? How is that possible? And why did you help me during the mirror maze?"

Nyx snickered as she touched my chin. "You didn't use my power. It was your power. And the one during the mirror maze was a mere amusement, a test to see if you were worthy of the trials. I needed someone with your unique abilities to reach the crown."

My frustration grew, but Nyx's chains held me firmly. Rowan, still vigilant with his bow, demanded answers. "Magnus, what is she talking about? Did you know her true intentions?"

I grunted, struggling against Nyx's chains. "No, Rowan. I thought she was a friend. She helped us through the challenges. But now... it was all a facade."

I continued, "She wants us to get the crown so that she can steal it from me."

Nyx snickered again and whispered, "Correct."

She bound me and Rowan and threw us off the summit. I was depressed and felt deceived as we plummeted down the bottomless pit. Rowan shouted as he broke free from the chains, "Magnus! Get a hold of yourself."

He grabbed me by the hand, and we saw a holographic screen.

[CONGRATULATIONS IN COMPLETING THE THIRD TRIAL]
