Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: SP and AFP[GTG]

[Mission in progress…

Let the game begin.

Objective: Get two hundred points on the first day [00:20:34:32].

Reward: A shadow skill.

Failure: All stats set to negative.]

It seems I just can't have it easy, can I?

Haah.

[You should probably get on with it if you don't want to lose whatever little chances of survival you have in this world,] said the useless voice in my head.

"Haah," I sighed once more, then looked ahead of me. I was now in a dilapidated building, one that looked like a hurricane had run into it. The whole place was in tatters. The couch—if you could still call it that—was literally half of what it used to be, and what remained wasn't even intact; it was reduced to just wood. The TV on the ground was smashed beyond repair, with mercury splattered all over it. Then there was the ceiling, just an arm's length away from caving in. The carpets were burned to nothing; in fact, whatever was left here was just a shadow of what it once was.

Anyway, I had managed to set up a table from whatever wood I could find in this place. On this makeshift table, I placed everything I had luckily scavenged on the way here. I still couldn't find a weapon, and since I have no affinity skills, I could only improvise. I got a wooden plank and found a sharp metal piece, which I stapled to the top of the wood to form a makeshift spear. This is probably useless, but at least I now have a weapon.

Aside from that, I had a bag that was torn inside out; most of the pockets had holes, but luckily the main part was intact. There was a hammer—a lucky find, though it would have served better as a weapon if I were a tad taller. Then there was the lighter; I'm not sure what I could do with that, but it will probably come in handy in the long run. I also found some tape, just a little, as it seemed to have been used up already. I grabbed some gum just because... why not?

Oh yeah, there was also some worm-infested canned food and some noodles, which surprisingly still looked edible. I found some smashed phones just lying around and some nylons... that would probably not come in handy. Finally, there was this...

"A gun."

Yes, a pistol. But it was actually useless; it was empty when I found it. I picked it up from a dumpster beside this building, but there were no bullets. It was just there.

Anyway, things were supposed to go smoothly for me for at least the next three days. But no, this just had to appear.

[Mission in progress…

Let the game begin.

Objective: Get two hundred points on the first day [00:19:58:42].

Reward: A shadow skill.

Failure: All stats set to negative.]

Now it seems all my plans of taking it easy for the first few days are impossible. Not unless I want to become completely useless in this world. With negative stats, I might actually consider taking my own life.

Haah.

I began packing everything into the bag. Come to think of it, the mission said stats, right?

[... Yes?]

"So where are the stats?" I asked, still packing.

[Ding!]

[Say status]

"Status?" I said with a raised eyebrow, and then—

Fwoosh!

Suddenly, an interface materialized before me.

[User Stats

Name: Leo.

Age: 18.

Class: Lunar, Year 8.

Affinity: Shadow.

Skills: Nil.

Proficiency: 0%.

Strength: 7.

Endurance: 5.

Intelligence: 23.

Mana: 200/200.

Charm (AFP): 13.

Available Points:

SP: 0.

AFP: -5400 (negative)

 +0 (positive).]

Hm. Pretty decent for a side character, I commented, taking note of the commendable mana reserve. But... what are those points?

[Oh... that. The SP means stat points, which can help upgrade stats, while the AFP is for shop purchases and charm increases.]

"What....?" I muttered in disbelief. I could do all this but didn't know?

[That's because you didn't ask.]

"So... I can't use affection to level up any other stats?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

[No.]

"How about the shop?"

[Get to level 2 first.]

"... How about the points? How do I get these points?"

[SP can be obtained from missions, while AFP comes from the emotions of main characters you interact with.]

"... How about the negative sign?"

[It's just as you guessed: it's for negative emotions, and yes, positive emotions are more valued compared to negative ones.]

"...."

[...]

".... You know what..." I said after much thought, ".... put all that's left of my AFP into charm. Let's see if good looks really have their own set of luck." I grinned as nasty thoughts began to creep into my mind.

I really shouldn't have found out about this.
