Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The School Forum

Wen Wan quickly got ready to go out with minimal fuss.

Fang Jie asked, "Aren't you going to put on some makeup or something?"

"No need."

Wen Wan picked up her handbag and deliberately pulled down her collar to hide a hickey on her neck as she passed by a mirror.

"What's with that?" Fang Jie was puzzled by Wen Wan's actions.

"It's nothing, let's go."

The two soon arrived at school.

As soon as they reached the classroom door, all the classmates started buzzing the moment they saw Wen Wan.

She rarely came to school, and ever since she found out that Gu XiuYuan was a shareholder of the university, she wanted to come even less.

Fang Jie pulled Wen Wan to sit down in a random seat.

"Are you... Wen Wan?"

"Yes, what's up?"

Wen Wan nodded, looking at the strange female classmate sitting next to her.

"Have you seen the school wall?"

"No, I haven't even checked my phone yet."

Wen Wan started searching for her phone, but couldn't find it on her.

"Oh no…"

"What's wrong?" Fang Jie asked.

"I left my phone in the hotel."

"Are we going back to get it after class?"

"No, forget it." Wen Wan shook her head. She didn't want to go back to that room. She'd have the housekeeper retrieve it later.

The strange girl handed over her phone.

The striking red font immediately caught Wen Wan's eye.

[Innocent college girl climbs social ladder by hooking up with the city's leading enterprise's young master.]

The accompanying picture was of Gu XiuYuan carrying an unconscious Wen Wan into the Amber Hotel.

Wen Wan raised an eyebrow, clicking her tongue. This picture… this headline… was indeed explosive…

"This…! Wen Wan, you and Gu XiuYuan were caught on camera?"

Wen Wan didn't bother responding; only Fang Jie knew about her being taken back to the hotel by Gu XiuYuan last night.

The picture couldn't have been taken by anyone but a ghost, if not Fang Jie.

"Must have been snapped by some dog sniffing around."

Fang Jie's face turned sour at the comment, but it was back to normal in an instant.

"Yeah, but you and Gu XiuYuan should keep a low profile..."

"How did he know I was going to run away tonight? Walls have ears, or did he put a tracker on me? What do you think, Fang Jie?"

Wen Wan lifted her beautiful eyes to stare at Fang Jie, the amusement in her gaze making Fang Jie feel guilty.

"Maybe he knows you too well…" Fang Jie pushed the phone back to the girl, her voice tinged with annoyance, "Stop reading this gossip, it's all fake!!"

The girl, baffled by Fang Jie's sudden outburst, started crying.

Wen Wan quickly handed over a tissue, "Don't cry, my friend is just in a bad mood because of her period."

"Wen Wan!" Fang Jie's voice carried a hint of grievance.

"Just kidding, you wouldn't get mad, right? You always play jokes on me too." Wen Wan said with a smile.

Wen Wan didn't even glance at Fang Jie, instead she started wiping the tears from the strange girl's face.

"What's your name?" Wen Wan asked the girl in front of her.

"I… I'm Meng Jie."

"Meng Jie, my friend has a bad temper, don't take it to heart. I apologize on her behalf, please stop crying."

Meng Jie looked up at the girl in front of her, whose pure and beautiful face seemed angelic, her heart fluttering slightly.

"They… they all say you have a bad temper and are harsh to people, but you are really beautiful and gentle in person."

"They? Who are they?"

"The people commenting under this post."

Meng Jie pulled out her phone to show Wen Wan the comments.

Wen Wan took the phone, scrolling through the comments under the post. Suddenly, she saw a familiar avatar and name.

[Netizen]Devil's Maid: This woman reeks of seduction, probably a fox spirit specializing in seducing men!

Wen Wan's lips curled into a smirk. If that wasn't Fang Jie's alt account, what was?

She turned to look at Fang Jie, who was staring blankly at the phone screen in Wen Wan's hand.

"No… that's not me, Wen Wan, my account was hacked last month, I remember telling you."

Wen Wan raised an eyebrow, told her? She had no clue.

But Wen Wan calmly handed the phone back to Meng Jie.

"Right, you did mention that."

Fang Jie finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"But that account is linked to a bank card, you haven't had your bank card stolen, have you!"

"Ah? No… no way." Fang Jie clearly didn't catch on to Wen Wan's act and was still confused.

"We can't ignore this; it seems minor but the underlying issue could be deep. I'll call the police for you!" Wen Wan turned to Meng Jie, "Meng Jie, may I borrow your phone please?"

"Ah… okay, sure." Meng Jie was obviously confused by the situation.

Wen Wan stood up and walked outside the classroom pretending to call the police, but was chased by Fang Jie who tried to snatch the phone from her hand.

In the scuffle, Wen Wan's hand hit the corner of a desk, causing her to cry out in pain.

"Fang Jie! I'm doing this for your own good!"

"It's a small matter, no need to call the police!" Fang Jie continued to try and snatch the phone from Wen Wan's hand.

Suddenly, Fang Jie pushed Wen Wan, causing her to stagger towards a brick corner.

This was going too far; she was about to get hurt.

Wen Wan tightly closed her eyes.

But the expected pain never came. Instead, she felt herself being caught by a pair of hands and then everything turned upside down.

A familiar male voice sounded above her head.

"You pushed Wen Wan? Who gave you the courage?"
