Chapter 189 - Stay or Move on?

Elmo slowly shuffled his way back to the room that he was staying in. even though the king had offered all of them a suite of rooms, Elmo, Kim, and Jonas had been quick to decline, although it was clear that Elin wanted to accept, but in the face of the others in their group declining, Elmo suspected that she felt pressured to refuse as well.

Although, he couldn't help but wonder if that might have been a mistake on his part. He really didn't know where the suite of rooms would be as opposed to the rooms they'd been given for their stay, but where those rooms were located wasn't anywhere close to where they spent their days training and ubilding their skills and spells.

As such, when he was done, Elmo always spent a long time getting back to his room. While he didn't do much in the ways of the unarmed combat training with Kim, or at least he hadn't for a week or two, he still used his MP Charlge to restore his MP enough so he could master his spells. Which he was surprised to see how much he'd been able to progress with it.

Elmo had also been surprised at how many were considering themselves Kim's army or guard, or whtever. While Elmo hadn't been able ot figure out what exactly they'd been calling themselves, he recognized that Kim would just as soon as have them leave as to give them orders.

From what Elmo could tell, most of them had been with her the night that they'd been able to stop the assassination attempt on the king. Which indicated that there were still effects f that night that they were still feeling, even if it wasn't the same as the fatigue or exhaustion from then.

When he finally made it to the room he had as his own for the time being, he was about to enter it, when Jonas appeared from out of nowhere and merely ruffled Elmo's hair.

What that was about, he couldn't say. All he knew was that he was finding it rather weird, but not exactly altogether unpleasant. Though, it would be nice to know what that was about.

Sighing, he stepped into his room, not really sure if he was going to try and get some sleep or just sit in there and let time pass by. With how tired he felt, eitehr option was pretty much an equal possibility. Especially since there were times when he'd try to go to sleep only to just remain awake, not having the energy to do anything else, while other times he'd just try to stay awake and think of other things and find out later that he'd drifted off to sleep without even realizing it.

Not that knowing that really helped him out anyway.

Elmo walked over to his bed and lay on it, afternoon light shining through the narrow window about midway through the room. Showing just how spartan the room was. All he had in the room was the bed and maybe a few pieces of furniture that he hadn't really even paid any attention to, let alone thought to use at any point.

As he stood over his bed, he was left with trying to get his sluggish brain to work an ddecide what he was going to try and do this time: attempt to sleep or just sit and let his mind wander?

It was a conundrum that had been bothering him for a while now. He wasn't sure when it frist started, only that he was already getting himself exhausted past the point were he could really get his brain to work much, even when he woke up in the morning.

On a whim, he suddenly thought to check his stats, although he knew others in his group checked them almost daily. Where for him, it hardly mattered to see what he'd been able to do wvery day, but that didn't make it any less important, in his mind.

Elmo sighed, looking down at the bed again, before he lifted his head up and said, "Status."

As Elmo looked over his stats, he couldn't help but smile as he suddenly thought of what spells he had with him before this month of training.

He was feeling pretty good about them, though since he hadn't realized how much stronger the versions of the spell he had were.

He couldn't help but wonder if he'd trained before when they spent the two weeks after escaping the dungeon, how much stronger he'd be by now. Especially with how strong his spells were even now.

Finally deciding what to do, Elmo lay on the bed, hoping he wouldn't be stuck awake again when he's trying to fall asleep after wearing himself out with the training.

Jonas couldn't help but wonder what the reason for ruffling Elmo's hair like he was a kid was about. He'd merely did that from an impulse, but that didn't explain why he'd felt that impulse in the first place.

Shaking his head, he sighed. He couldn't say what it was about, or anything like that, but it wasn't like it would affect either of them.

Or at least that's what he hoped. Especially since he had no idea what the reason behind that act was in the first place.

Part of him felt like giving himself a good punch in the face, but he couldn't say why.

In order to distract himself, he decided to check on his stats. Which he couldn't help but think about how frequently he'd been doing that lately, if only to just take his mind off of other things.

Maybe it was time they stopped training and started looking for the fire dragon themselves. Especially with how everyone else had gone looking for it already.

"Status," Jonas said sounding bored even to himself.

Maybe things wouldn't be so boring for him if he'd had more skills with which to build, especially since he'd heard the others talking about how they'd gotten other skills from mastering some of theirs.

Yet, he hadn't gotten a single extra skill through that. Not that he was particularly concerned with that or that it was important to him, but it at least would give him something else to occupy his mind.

Of course, he could spend his time building his appraise skill, but he could only do that for so long before he needed to move. Not doing anything like this was just driving him crazy.

Taking a deep breath, he closed his stats and just continued walking.

Maybe if he took up doing some running that would help him out, but he doubted it would alleviate the boredom to any extent. To him, going for a 'run' like that every day would be the same as doing nothing but building his appraise skill. He'd go stir crazy doing nothing but that.

Which meant he needed something else to work on. However, all that came to his mind was heading off to find the fire dragon so they could try and complete that challenge.

Sighing, he shook his head. He didn't know if the others were wanting to go themselves, but if they weren't, he suspected that he'd need to go himself, if only to keep himself from losing his mind.

However, since it was getting late in the day, he figured it wouldn't be too much to try and talk to the others in the morning. At the very least, right now they probably had worn themselves out, so it would be good to at least let them rest before springing this on them.

Especially since he was sure that if they wanted to train more, that he would need to leave on his own. Even though he'd really gotten used to being around the others in his group.
