I thought about how I'd spent today since reaching Avalon at midnight. Some of it had been with Reyin, but I'd eventually pulled away to keep an eye on him from afar as he went in and out of craft stores, browsing some and purchasing from others. I hadn't let myself inside any of them, not wanting to miss that abandoned part of myself.
I'd also delivered some letters Ellis hadn't had a chance to send out yet. Funny how I could recall every detail of my day, even trivial information, but I couldn't remember if I'd stopped for a chance to eat or rest. This wasn't new. I tended to forget to take care of myself when putting Ellis' needs before my own.
And he knew this just as well, so when he sighed, the disappointment was one I could swallow because I'd only neglected myself for him. And Reyin, too, I supposed.
