That night, Carrissa felt restless, her consciousness was poking her. She felt guilty that she suspected him of being queer and even tried to harm him.
What was she thinking? Did she think that she would get a free pass if she did that or no one would have found out?
She twisted and turned in the bed. Even though the bed was quite large, she felt that it was not sufficient for her to roll over her miseries.
She sat on the bed and looked far, towards the couch where Auric loved to sit in the night but he was not there.
After getting a bath to relieve her from the stress and guilt which was building up in her.
What was she thinking? She didn't care whether he was queer or whatever. So she didn't understand why she behaved in that manner.
Yes, she may have been angry that he was just using her but that didn't guarantee she to attack him based on the words of a mere servant.
What had she done?
She brushed her hand through her hair and her hair hung low.
Just then she felt another presence in the room, her head flew up and she saw Auric standing in the middle of the room and staring at her with his gorgeous face.
She blinked hard and pinched herself on the cheek to be certain that she was not hallucinating because of the guilt she was building up.
A painful cry resounded from her and she realized that it was not her imagination.
She screamed, much louder than the first and pushed back.
How the hell did he get in here? She didn't even hear the door click open thus what happened?
Or was it when she was lost in her thoughts?
Looking at her confused face, Auric shook his head, he didn't mean to appear in the room in such a manner, he thought she would be asleep by now but she wasn't.
Well, he didn't care anyway.
Auric paid no attention to her and unbuttoned the first few buttons before falling onto the couch.
Carrissa's eyes trailed over him, watching his every movement.
She couldn't get any plausible explanation for this so she took in the logical one.
She watched him sit on the couch with his eyes closed.
"Y-You can come and sleep here." She began, the last thing she could do was that. "The bed is large enough for two." or more.
Auric didn't say a word and neither moved making Carrissa think that maybe he didn't catch on to what she said or he was angry with her.
She hated to be indebted to someone but ever since she came here, that was what was happening.
Auric had freed her from the shackles of being a Queen while he didn't touch her against her will which made her think something...
She was beginning to admire him.
"I am sorry for what I said. I have no excuse to give for my defence but what I can say is that this will be the last time so please..."
Auric signed as he listened to her blabber on, she was quite annoying to begin with and she was a talker.
He sighed again and rose up, approaching the bed.
Carrissa halted her speech and stared at him, wondering what he was going to do.
Auric climbed onto the bed and slept at the farthest side, he didn't even cover himself with the duvet but left it for her.
Carrissa was speechless when she saw his broad back facing her plus his masculine scent.
He smelled good, something indescribable but gave her peace.
"...So..."
"Cut the drama and sleep. I am already here."
Carrissa had her mouth falling to the ground. Did he just call her heartfelt apology a drama?
She was apologizing for the tenth time in her life and he was calling such a rare treatment a drama?
Carrissa scoffed and her eyes widened in disbelief.
"You are not romantic in the slightest way." Carrissa began, since he dared to call her apology a drama then she would frustrate him.
A smile formed on her lips and she began. " Many men will cuddle their wives to sleep, others will but my them clothes and constantly tell them that they are beautiful even if their beauty doesn't match up to mine.
I wonder why you married me. Wait, that this means that I will not have any children of my own..."
By this time, Carrissa was hovering over Auric, speaking the words into his ears.
Internally Auric was fuming, he wondered what problem he had gotten for himself.
He thought that Odin would have gotten him a human, not a parrot who feared nothing. His eyes blazed open and he held Carrissa's arm, he pulled her down from the bed while the latter protested and tried to peel his hands off.
He descended the stars unto the hallway and made his way towards the door.
Carrissa had an idea of what he was about to do, she started shaking her head and begging.
"Auric don't do this. I'm sorry." This was the first time she mentioned his name and Auric suddenly felt hot, he felt some emotions from the way she mentioned his name but Carrissa was dreading the possibility of sleeping outside.
The noise woke up Odin. Those three were the only ones who slept in the castle as the maids and servants slept in the quarters which was situated on the eastern side of the estate.
Odin saw the scene of Auric pulling Carrissa out... Well, pulling is an extravagant word to use since he was literally dragging her.
Carrissa stared at him with pleading eyes.
"Your Highness..." Odin stopped the moment he felt that cold glare directed at him. Carrissa felt it too and she knew that her life was finished.
The doors opened and Auric pushed Carrissa out. The latter fell on her butt and she stared hatefully at the man. She took back her word. She can never admire such a creature.
Auric slammed the doors close the moment she was outside.
"Auric, what are you doing?" Odin questioned with a serious face as he followed him upstairs. " What about the 'thing'? You only get to feel relieved in the night."
Auric scoffed and responded. "I spent two hundred years in pain, I have grown to love it and it annoys me that she is relieving me of it."
Odin paused in his tracks and stared at Auric. Was he a masochist?
He felt the chills.
Outside Carrissa was fuming mad. Smoke was coming out of her ears and she looked as though she would explode any minute from now.
Who the hell did he think he was? Just because he was king?
In fact, what did she do to receive such treatment? Huh.
"You motherfucking bastard! I hope you rot in hell!"
"I pray you would never have peace in your flimsy life again! "
"You will be defeated very soon. You sick bastard!"
