Chereads / Jinnx Hunter / Chapter 6 - THE EXPECTED ESCAPE

Chapter 6 - THE EXPECTED ESCAPE

Grecko swiftly removed the obsidian blade from the Jinnx's chest, causing a chorus of agonized screams to fill the air. They all sensed the deep anguish that consumed the Jinnx.

It was filled with the anguish and suffering brought about by the dark blade. Grecko's sword proved to be the deadliest among all the weapons. There is no doubt that the aberrant Jinnx they are up against stands no chance against it.

"It won't be long now," Grecko remarked, taking a few steps back from the Jinnx.

After witnessing Grecko's actions, everyone was amazed to see the Jinnx abruptly cease its agonized cries. With an air of confidence, Grecko casually dismissed the Jinnx and prepared to leave, as if he had accomplished everything he needed to do.

"is it already dead?" Kiyo couldn't resist the urge to inquire.

All eyes were fixed on the grotesque figure of Jinnx, motionless in the aftermath of Grecko's attack.

"Probably," Grecko casually responded, continuing on his way while the others observed the Jinnx.

As Grecko takes a step back from the group, he is abruptly confronted by a towering individual with a strong build.

"Braganza, your arrival's a perfect timing." Grecko warmly welcomed him.

Braganza lowered his head in a display of reverence as the grand necromancer, Grecko, made his way towards him.

"Should we take it along, high Lord?" He inquired of Grecko.

Grecko briefly turned his head to the side, casting a quick glance at the fallen aberrant Jinnx, and it took a few second before Grecko averted his gaze and carried on moving.

"Wrap things up quickly, Braganza. Tell them to meet me at the fort."

Following Grecko's orders, he then spread his right hand outward with the black orb in his hand. With the use of the black orb, he was able to pierce through the space and eventually create a hole.

There was a large hole, big enough for them to enter, that led to their home in the mysterious region of Necropolis.

Necropolis was a place that acted as a bridge between the mortal realm and the spirit world, maintaining harmony between the two. In the absence of Necropolis mediating the equilibrium, the realm of spirits could encroach upon the mortal world, potentially leading to widespread chaos and devastation.

EVERYTHING FELT LIKE A COLD WINTER DAY. That was what Arex thought as he was jolted awake by an unusual chill seeping into his skin. He couldn't remember how he ended up in that mysterious location.

But what really grabbed his attention was the fact that he seemed to be trapped within walls made of bricks. Arex found himself reclining on a rather spartan sleeping arrangement, lacking any semblance of comfort.

Instead of a proper bed, there was only a meager carpet spread out to mimic one.

Arex attempted to adjust his position in order to gain a clearer view of his surroundings, only to be taken aback by the realization that he was confined within a cell reminiscent of a prison.

Outside his cell, a single lamp cast a feeble glow, barely illuminating the surroundings.

He hastily examined his body, afraid that he might already look hideous because of the mutation which was the last of what he could recall that happened to him--being the reason as to why they had detained him inside.

However, when Arex looked at his arms and feet, he noticed that they appeared very normal. Arex felt a sense of unease and quickly examined himself, running his hand over his chest. To his relief, everything appeared to be the same.

"I thought that strange woman mentioned some kind of transformation?" Arex muttered as he struggled to remember the encounter he had with Roxina earlier.

He was utterly perplexed. Arex found himself bewildered by the unexpected turn of events, trapped within the confines of a room as if he were a captive.

As Arex struggled to come to terms with his present circumstances, he quickly positioned himself next to the rusty bars that confined him.

"Hello?! Is anyone out there? Can someone hear me?!" Arex let out a scream for help, but to his disappointment, no one came to his aid.

He attempted to push the grills outward, hoping that their rusty appearance would make them more fragile.

Unfortunately, Arex found himself feeling let down when he realized his efforts had not succeeded.

"Let me out of here!" He raised his voice again, desperately seeking aid and hoping that his screams would eventually reach someone to help him escape.

As soon as Arex realized that none of his effort to ask for help seemed to be working, he eventually gave up.

In a fit of rage, Arex grabbed the wooden chair and forcefully slammed it into the cell bars. However, much to Arex's astonishment, he witnessed vibrant blue flames extinguishing from his hands.

He seemed shunned by what just happened. Arex could hardly believe that he was able to do that.

"How on earth did that happen?" He pondered the question, his gaze fixed on his empty hands.

It was quite astonishing that even Arex found it to be rather peculiar. He appeared skeptical, questioning whether it was just a product of his own imagination.

However, there was a compelling force that pushed Arex to give it another shot. He considered using the bed frame instead of the wooden chair, as it was heavier and more challenging to handle.

Arex carefully lifted the carpet and positioned the bed frame where it belonged. As he went about his task, he soon discovered that the frame was much weightier than he had anticipated. It was made of steel, which is why it was heavy.

Now, Arex made a conscious effort to thoroughly examine his plan. He wasn't sure whether he could actually do it, knowing the bed frame was heavy. However, he was insistent that he must do it if this would mean he could take his freedom and also discover that he really made that blue flame earlier.

He eventually took a deep breath as he placed both of his hands on the headboard. "Here goes nothing," Arex mumbled as he gave all his energy into picking up the bed frame.

Arex was surprised that he was able to pick up the bed frame and lift it from the ground. He was shocked to witness how his body was actually able to carry the weight of the bed frame all alone.

"Was this the outcome of the mutation? Damn!" He couldn't help but say what's on his mind quite aloud.

After Arex effortlessly lifted the bed frame, he paused to catch his breath before hurling it at the bar with a forceful impact. He was utterly stunned, witnessing the reappearance of the mesmerizing blue flames.

Now, they confidently glowed on his two hands. He couldn't help but be amazed, as the blue flames didn't seem to radiate any heat. It provided a comforting warmth, a welcome change from the cold that had enveloped him since he first opened his eyes.

"Holy sh*t, do I really get to acquire this power as well?" He exclaimed, his expression filled with wonder at the newfound abilities he had acquired.

Arex felt a rush of excitement as he uncovered the blue flame and its incredible abilities. Despite his newfound strength he was able to showcase, that he almost forgot that his main objective right now was to get out of the prison cell and find out where he was.

As Arex surveyed the situation, he realized that the bed frame alone wouldn't be sufficient to break through the cell's gate. After some consideration, he came up with the idea of using the intense heat of the blue flame to melt the metal bar.

Despite his lack of prior experience, Arex was determined to take a chance on this, hoping it would lead him to escape from the dreadful place. Arex quickly grasped the cell bars again, his hands still ablaze with blue flames.

With intense concentration, he directed his energy towards the object, and to his astonishment, Arex observed the iron bars gradually contorting and warping.

"Hah! It's working!" Arex exclaimed. His voice was tinged with enthusiasm, knowing that his plan was actually manifesting.

With a swift and skillful maneuver, Arex managed to bend one of the bars, allowing him to create a makeshift pathway out of the prison cell.

After Arex emerged, he observed the blue flames on his hand gradually fading away. And he couldn't help but remark, "I suppose it also has its limitations," as he watched the flame vanish into a wisp of smoke.

Soon enough, Arex found himself trapped in a labyrinth, with an unending array of doors stretching out before him. He pondered why the location lacked any windows.

"How the hell could the air even circulate here when there wasn't even a single window around?" he asked himself despite knowing that he wouldn't even be able to figure out the answer for that.

In the end, Arex resorted to finding out the possible exit from this place. He was just a little anxious about how the entire place, particularly the prison-like cell from where he came from, happened to be left unguarded.

It was making Arex suddenly wonder whether he was only being allowed to roam around because in the end, he would eventually be set up in a trap. There were just so many random ideas that suddenly manifested inside Arex's head in regards to his current predicament.

He couldn't afford to make a mistake in this situation, even though he was completely unaware of what was happening around him. Ultimately, Arex faces the daunting task of choosing which door to enter, as he finds himself surrounded by an unending array of mysterious portals.

Arex was uncertain about finding the exit if he simply checked the end of the maze. Ultimately, Arex made the choice to open a door that stood before him, without considering the unknown that lay beyond.

As soon as Arex stepped inside, he was taken aback to find himself in a meeting hall filled with peculiar individuals who bore a striking resemblance to the enigmatic woman, Roxina, whom Arex had encountered at the bridge.

Arex's astonishment suddenly shifted as his attention was pulled away by a calm and gentle male voice of Grecko, who was sitting at the center of the crescent shaped table.

Grecko eagerly glanced at Arex, his anticipation evident. "Speaking of, our esteemed guest is here," he announced. Causing a sudden silence to descend upon the room, all eyes turn sharply towards Arex.
