Taken aback, Merfestina struggled to find the right words to respond to Valkas. It was as though she had been caught off guard. "How could you even say that, Lord Valkas? That was not my intention." She forced a smile in Valkas's direction.
Valkas, on the other hand, was intimately familiar with Merfestina's behavior, making it effortless for him to discern her sarcasm. And even though it was glaringly obvious to Valkas, he decided to overlook it.
