Grecko remained silent for a while, causing Arex to question if his offer had unintentionally upset Grecko.
At the back of Arex's mind, it was the only thing he could come to think of bargaining with Grecko. However, Arex suddenly got himself feeling baffled, when all of a sudden Grecko eventually replied.
"Interesting, a human willing to bargain his soul, huh?" Grecko had a tinge of sarcasm in his way of praising Arex. "However, I'm afraid I can't accept that suggestion." He added.
"It's all that I could offer, I have nothing else with me." Arex immediately protested. He found it odd that this particular individual they all call the high lord, apparently declined accepting his soul.
If Arex could remember it clearly, the reason why he was even in this place away from the world of the living was that because these Shikaris were after his soul. And now it left Arex wondering how come Grecko sounded as though he was not interested in it unlike the rest.
"All the more reason I could not accept your soul as wager. Arex, your soul happens to be infected by malevolent soul-eating entities called Jinnx. We have no interest in keeping them for ourselves except turfing them out."
"What if my soul is not infected, will you eventually accept it?" Arex promptly asked, wondering if Grecko would somehow change his perspective.
But to Arex's astonishment, Greck still refused. "Even if your soul isn't infected by any Jinnx I still won't accept your soul as a wager, well, which is impossible since all humans have already been infected by Jinnx ever since they were born. Nevertheless, accepting the soul as wager is not possible due to the simple reason that it won't be of any use to us Shikaris."
"I don't seem to be getting your point." Arex said, his face was filled with so much confusion.
Grecko couldn't help but sigh. He realized that Arex was completely ignorant about the Shikaris and the Jinnxes which in the end would compel Grecko to eventually explain in better for Arex's understanding.
"Let's say it like this, the existence of Jinnx has become a natural thing to the land of mortals. Jinnxes are the malevolent soul-eating entities but these Jinnxes don't come out that strong to begin with."
Eventually, Grecko began to explain as he spread his palm before Arex's presence. The black orb once again appeared atop his palm and in a moment, it illuminated a light towards Arex causing his vision to quickly turn all black.
"What just happened? I can't see!" Arex complained, as he slowly felt panicky for suddenly losing the ability to see anything.
However, his assumption of being blind was wrong when all of a sudden, Grecko appeared before him while around his body was surging with light green luminescence serving as light around him.
Arex wasn't exactly sure where he currently was, but he sensed it as though it was like a huge sphere or possibly could be something like a big black mass. Although Arex still believed that they could really be inside a black sphere since the two of them were being surrounded by thick black mist revolving around, blocking any source of natural light from penetrating through.
"I think it would be better if I would be bringing you inside my zone for a moment to better explain things to you." Grecko quickly explained the sudden occurrence to Arex.
And even though it had already been explained to Arex, he was still unable to control himself from getting too shunned by the ability of Grecko to bring in another individual within his omnipotent-looking dominion.
Before Grecko could even go far from the main reason he brought Arex inside his zone. He immediately previewed a series of images and clips to Arex as he continued to explain it further for him, "Going back to what I was saying, these Jinnxes manifest from eating out the human host's negative energies. Humans are a rich source of negative energies which Jinnxes get attracted to."
As Grecko explained, Arex looked above him where the flashing of images were being projected. From there he witnessed how the Jinnxes with a hollow form of spirit that has a face depicting a demonic entity grappled every human with an overflowing amount of negative energy.
Arex clearly became so engrossed in the tale that he freely allowed Grecko to continue without interrupting him.
"It was supposed to balance things as when Jinnxes eat out the negative energies, it eventually helps the human cope up with their day to day lives. Yet, that balance eventually spirals into a problem when the JInnxes become too greedy for the negative energies which result in the mortals turning into berserkers like you. They wreck havoc and cause chaos around them. And this destroys the balance that the shikaris sought to maintain."
Suddenly, Grecko stopped saying another word which made Arex look towards him. Feeling as though Arex craved for more, he instantly got more curious to ask, "Then should all that mean more reason for you to want to take the Jinnxes because they ruin the balance?"
"You're right but not entirely. Yes, we needed them. But it was for the reason to turf them out and maintain the balance, however, once we turf them out, Jinnxes usually disappear completely when the scythe's blades slashes through them. Meaning, we literally have no use for it once we take their souls."
"But I am not like these Jinnxes. You all keep saying I am an aberrant am I? Isn't that right, Leomold?" Arex even called out Leomold but he was surprised to see that Leomold was nowhere around.
"Leomold is outside the zone. It's only you and I inside this domain since I didn't allow him to enter so we could talk more freely." Grecko eventually answered.
Although Arex may have wondered why, he eventually decided to focus on what was more important at the moment.
"You know, I don't really understand myself." Arex eventually said, but since he heard nothing from Grecko seconds after he said that, Arex then added, "I don't get it why I was even having the hard time convincing you to take my soul in exchange for me to qualify for your stupid game. If you don't want it, fine. I won't compete."
As Arex sounded as though he was about to give up convincing Grecko when he was supposed not to, Grecko eventually said something that perked up his ears once more.
"What was that you were about to confirm from Leomold a moment ago again, Arex?" Grecko suddenly asked, bringing Arex to come and think about it so suddenly.
"Well, as I was saying, I am an aberrant, meaning if you can't turf out my soul then I won't completely disappear. You'd still manage to keep me and—-" Arex suddenly flinched upon realizing something. All this time, the answer was just around the corner.
And Grecko even confirmed what he thought when he quickly flashed a smirk before him as he replied, "Yes, precisely, Arex. You finally get what I want from you. And that's to become a shikari just like all of us."
