Chapter 14 - “Clown”

The group stared at the woman in shock, this was truly the ruler, Uvie? Reece quickly broke out of her surprise, picking up a nearby candelabrum, throwing it at her head.

"Owie..!"

The woman, Uvie, stumbled back from the hit, taking a few steps back as she held her hands over her forehead. She kept a smile on her face, laughing it off regardless.

"Do you understand what the hell you've done to the city!? You've ruined it all being lazy and not doing your job..!"

Reece stomped towards Uvie, her fists clenched as she poked her in the chest, moving her back each time, being quite agressive as Uvie backed away, laugjing more nervously.

"Ah.. I don't know what you're talking about..? I left the city just as it was, no harm done..!"

Reece looked at her as if she were stupid, her eyebrow raised as she glared deep into Uvie's eyes, surprised to hear what she had said.

"Do you not know how running a city works!?"

She bonked Uvie hard on the dome, her head swimming down as she giggled, though wincing in pain a bit as she rubbed her head.

"What do you mean..? The city should be just fine..! I haven't done anything to it, did something bad happen..?"

Reece grasped Uvie by the shirt, Bennett and Evan coming to restrain her as Reece was readied to beat Uvie down.

Uvie quickly freed herself from Reece's grasp, holding her hands out in reassurance as her smile shrunk just a bit, Reece trying to push Evan and Bennett off of herself.

"I don't know why you are so hostile..! I don't mean any harm.. quite the opposite..!"

She held her hands out wide, her smile growing as she was quite the upbeat person, tilting her head to the side as she gave off a welcoming presence.

"I just wish to for others to be happy.. I don't want you to be upset…!-"

Reece suddenly broke free of Evan and Bennett's restraint, rushing towards Uvie to throw a punch. She quickly bent backwards, avoiding the hit.

She got back upstraight, delivering a punch of her own, her face shadowed as a dark, almost scary representation of her eyes could be seen through the shadows, her fist slammed upon the top of Reece's head as she was sent down, cracking the floor.

Uvie placed her hands over her face, fixing her slightly messed up bangs as she took a deep breath, regaining her kind emotions as she crouched down, helping Reece back up on her kneed.

"Oh gosh..! I didn't mean to..- are you okay..?"

Reece shook the debris out her hair, gritting her teeth as she wiped away her bloody nose, looking back towards Evan and Bennett, their mouths agaped as they looked like they've seen a ghost.

"C'mon guys, she just punched me, no big deal."

Uvie assisted Reece up, though she seemed quite irritated about being helped by the person she hated the most. She kept calm, placing her hands on her hips as she backed away from Uvie.

"The city is an absolute shithole, practically a warzone and it's entirely your fault."

Uvie frowned, a bit surprised from her unknowledged effect on the city, her hands covering her mouth as she was already filled with guilt.

"The citizens want a leader, without one they're going insane. Technicallu you're the Ruker but you haven't been exactly doing anything… Anyways, we need your help."

Uvie scurried around frantically, getting her stuff together, as well as freaking out realizing what she has done, she's been the worst Ruler one could ask for…

"Ah..!!! Of course, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..! I'll come to the coty right away..! Ahh..!!'"

Evan eventually caught Uvie in her track, sighing as he kept her still until she calmed down, crossing his arms as he shook his head.

"We already got a replacement ruler, you don't have to worry about it.. But our replacement ruler's gotten to a bit of an issue…"

He held up Uvie's wrist, her finger carrying a ring on it, a red gem placed into it, Uvie quickly taking back her hand, concealing her ring with the other.

"I'm sure you know a lot about these rings, don't try to deny it. We've found the remaining member of the Morell bloodline, and she's become substantially powerful, but…"

Bennett frowned in realization, taking a book out his bag as he strolled through the pages, eventually stopping as Reece and Kafka peeked over to it.

"The rings effect one's emotions.. and since she put on two I guess it overpowered her mind."

Bennett shut the book, glancing at Reece and Kafka to back off, Uvie being ever so curious herself to the issue, tilting her head as she took in all the information.

"Ohhh… I'm not sure how you expect me to help with that, but…"

She held her thumb up, a large smile on her face, her other hand on her hip as the others turned their attention to her.

"I'll help as I can..!"

Bennett and Kafka smiled to her agreement, Reece simply nodding in acceptance as Evan was already walking off, Uvie looking back at him.

"C'mon, we don't have much time, and it's already an issue that we don't know where Morell is in the first place."

Evan walked through the door, though he somehow came through another door in the throne room, seeming confused as the group watched him.

He went back in the door he came from, suddenly falling from the ceiling as he landed back in front of the group, as Uvie laughed to his failure.

"Damn it.. How the hell do you get out of here..!?"

Uvie calmed down from her laughing, wiping a tear away with her finger as she took a deep breath, nodding as she held her hand out.

"Only I know the exit."

Her ring glowed a beight red, as a panel of a dark crimson, flesh-like material came out her fingertip, more panels folding outside of one another, growing outside each time.

The panels formed a dome around them, distorted faces swimming through the surface of the crimson flesh, Uvie giggling as she then snapped her fingers.

Thedome distorted into a seemingly endless tunnel as the group began moving forth through it at high speeds, the distortion of their surrondings enhancing, angles and directions that shouldn't exist forming in the faces.

"What in the world…"

The group look in shock, it wasn't something they could comprehend, something one could conceptualize visually, it was all like a fever dream.

Upon Uvie's second snap, they were free from the tunnel, returning to the field where the rusty phonebooth remained, the group breathing heavily, wanting to throw up as their guts felt rearranged.

Uvie stood there, her hands on her hips as she let out another laugh, looking back to the weakened group as she held her hand down to them.

"Where to next, friends..?"
