Chapter 5 - the real world

"Yeah, I am a Rothschild," said Marcus.

"The legendary Rothschild that is known for being the one who controls the world?" asked Leon again, as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Yeah, that Rothschild," replied Marcus calmly.

"Wait, wait, here is the really big question. Is the Rothschild really controlling the world?" Leon asked carefully.

"I wouldn't say that we control the entire world, but yeah, you can say that the rumors are true to some extent," Marcus explained.

"Holy shit, man! Why didn't you tell me before?" exclaimed Leon.

"Well, how did you expect me to tell you about something like this? 'Hello, my name is Marcus Rothschild, and my family rules the world,' you know? Moreover, knowing such information will only cause harm to you, so I did not tell you," explained Marcus.

"I see, that makes sense ," said Leon after thinking about it for a moment.

"Do you know why they rule the world, Leon?" asked Jairus again.

Leon was about to say money and power, but he stopped midway, realizing that even though this answer felt logical, it wasn't enough. After thinking more about the matter, he couldn't come up with a convincing answer, so he asked, "Why?"

Jairus smiled after seeing his friend act wisely, recognizing the importance of acknowledging mistakes and admitting ignorance—qualities vital for any great person.

"In ancient times, many legendary creatures lived on this Earth—dragons, phoenixes, vampires, magus, and many others. But that was a long time ago. For some unknown reason, all these creatures disappeared, leaving only their remains, especially their blood, on the planet.

Humans discovered these remains only a few centuries ago, and with this discovery, many people began trying to combine the blood of these creatures with their own to obtain their powers. However, it wasn't easy because the blood needed to be purified, or whoever tried to combine it would die directly, except for some special cases.

After many attempts, we were able to combine the blood of these creatures with our own, granting us various abilities. This led to the formation of a new power system, consisting of families that rule different parts of the world, based on strength. The stronger you are, the more you can control.

The most powerful family among them is the Rothschild family, and they had to stand on business. Hence, they are often associated with conspiracy theories. However, there are many other families ruling around the world, slightly weaker than the Rothschilds but still stronger than what you can imagine.

This may sound like an imaginary, crazy conspiracy theory, so we never told you. Now, with superpowers seems to become more like vegetables in markets, there's no harm in sharing this information. Take your time to understand it, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask," explained Jairus.

As Leon continued to run, his mind buzzed with questions, feeling like he was experiencing this world for the first time.

The biggest question was how did he not know any of this in his previous life? Although he was not strong enough to control the world, it was impossible for him to not know something of this important

"The only logical reason I can think of is because Varian sent me to a different parallel world, very different. I thought earlier that the only difference is the time, but rethinking about it now, it seems many things are different," Leon analyzed in his mind as the pieces of the puzzle began to fit together.

"But Marcus being a Rothschild is really unexpected. Are the rest of them also from Rothschild?" Leon wondered. "I will just ask them."

"Are you all from Rothschild?" he asked, turning his head towards them.

" Well, it's a bit more complicated, as I said earlier the Rothschild family is not the only family controlling the world. There are in total 6 families divided on the six continents. And there are 3 different alliances.

Europe is controlled by The Rothschild and North America by the Pendragon and these two are allied. They have been in alliance for several centuries, since the origin of the Pendragon is from Europe and it went there after discovering the " new world ".

As for Latin America it's ruled by the Maya family and they are allied with Australia which is ruled by the Aurelian family.

As for Asia, it's controlled by the Leung family. And they are allied with Africa which is controlled by the Zulu family.

So Neophem is from the Rothschild and James is from the Pendragon. As for me I am technically from the Rothschild but I wasn't born there I joined them later on " explained Jairus

" So you can join later huh ? Wouldn't that affects blood purity "

" It does but famili— " before Jairus can finish explaining the wall around twenty meters ahead shattered, interrupting him.

The dust settled, and a few men entered through the wall. There were seven of them in total and they were hulking creatures, around 2 meters talls And with bodies similar to titans.

They were carrying close combat weapons in their left hands, such as swords and spears, and in their right hands were rockets launchers.

" Fuck they are already here " Cursed Neophem

"Everyone, retreat. I'll handle this from here. We can't risk your lives; you have the purest blood. Besides, it's my job to protect you, so I'll take one for the team," Jairus declared, confidently moving forward.

James patted him on the shoulder and expressed, "We owe you one. Next time, dinner's on me. And don't be late. We'll be at the usual place." He then turned away, Marcus and Neophem following. Meanwhile, Leon stood there with a conflicted expression, uncertain about leaving his friend alone.

"Don't worry, dumbass. These rats aren't enough to even make me bleed. I am the strongest," reassured Jairus.

Upon hearing his friend's words, Leon finally joined the rest of the group after giving a nod to Jairus.

"So, are we gonna start, or will you just stand there? Don't tell me you're waiting for backups? You know that's useless, right? The more you bring, the more will die," mocked Jairus as he confidently walked towards the enemy group.

With each step, cracks started to appear on the earth. His red eyes glowed more intensely, and his fangs and nails lengthened. A terrifying, bloody aura covered the hallway, making it increasingly difficult to breathe.

In response, the invaders aimed their launchers at him, firing simultaneously. In seconds, the hallway turned into a living hell.

_____________

In another hallway, the group continued to run. When Leon caught up with them, he heard explosions from where they had left Jairus.

A worried expression crossed his face as he asked, "Is Jairus going to be fine? Shouldn't we have stayed there with him?"

Upon hearing his question, they all looked at him with weird expressions. After a few moments, Marcus spoke up, saying, "Don't worry, Jairus doesn't need help. The team he's facing is the one that needs help. He's very strong—our guardian, protecting us heirs of the families. In fact, he's considered one of the strongest in the world, if not the strongest. Our help is unnecessary."

Leon was surprised to learn that his friend, who used to joke with him in class, was one of the strongest creatures on Earth. However, another question surfaced in his mind.

"Aren't we all around the same age? How come you are much weaker than him? He even mentioned joining the Rothschild later," he asked.

The group's weird expressions turned into an embarrassed one as no one answered his question.

"Man, you're a waste of your family's efforts," he mocked.

After hearing his sarcasm, the rest of the group sighed. James spoke up, "Jairus is just a prodigy, an unmatched talent, and with the help of his bloodline, he's invincible. You just haven't seen him in a fight; he's a monster."

"What is his bloodline?" inquired Leon.

"It's a very pure vampire bloodline, the only one of its kind in the world," answered Marcus.

As he said these words, they finally reached their destination—the institute exit. Upon going outside, they were met with a horrifying scene. Monsters roamed around and the city was in devastation.
