Changing into a navy blue cotton nightgown, I let my hair run down to my waist. Jermia had brought some grilled chicken, butter, and bread to eat. Seeing my current state it's hard to believe just an hour ago I was getting chased by assassins.
Plopping over my soft bed I let out a groan of satisfaction as my muscles relaxed finally after a hectic day. All I want is to go under sheets and fall into deep slumber, forgetting that the next morning will be worse than today. But that's a luxurious wish for my current situation.
Jermia held my arms and made me sit up. What a stubborn young lady! She shoved a bread piece coated with butter in my mouth and gave me a grilled chicken leg piece. While munching tiredly my mind trailed back to the content of Arvan's letter. Why did he even bother to send me a letter about the upcoming coronation?
'' Prince is holding a secret meeting with the Lower Court,'' Jermia said nonchalantly. She looked at me, mostly disappointed at my calm and unbothered gesture yet, continued.
'' Emperor's health is deteriorating, he doesn't have much to breathe as the Emperor anymore.''
I froze at the sudden news. The emperor's health is deteriorating, what unpleasantly pleasing news! Emperor Melvin Elimer, my father, was the person who issued the order to send his 7-year-old daughter to be taken to the Battlefield. Sometimes I questioned my relationship with the Emperor but my doubts get burnt all the time whenever I look at his face. I am his walking female version with a small body frame and calmer posture.
'' That's sad news,'' I said carelessly, Jermia sighed and nodded understanding I had no intention of talking about him. '' What are you doing to do with the Prince? He is meeting up with Lower Court, he must be planning to send you north.'' She sounds concerned about the future. But I wasn't.
Why?
'' I never knew I was making my lovely brother worried and scared.'' I chuckled softly before gulping down the water from the silver cup. Jermia frowned, and I smiled.
'' Jermia, you know the most popular maxim of Elimer?'' I questioned her. She nodded hesitately. Jumping down from the bed, I kneeled to take out a wooden box in which I kept the 'GIFT'.
Jermia grasped in pure shock, she wasn't expecting me to carry someone's head with me. She closed her eyes while making a disgusted face. I smirked and closed the wooden box, She looked at me with wide eyes and said, '' PRINCESS HAVE YOU GONE NUTS!''
Shrugging my shoulder, I eyed the Silver Sword with pigeon red ruby crushed over its body. I have been using this sword ever since I was capable enough to bear its weight. What's so special about a sword, right?
Yes, it's special. Silver Sword of Elimer had been given to the chosen heir for Generations. However, neither my father nor my brother have it.
Because none of them were chosen by my Grandfather but me. And mainly for that reason my father sided me to the battlefield, scared I would take what he thinks is his. My brother is so desperate to remove me from his side.
'' I was never sane, Jermia.''
I haven't told Jermia about my plan. Nor do I plan to inform her to,
After all, In Elimer, You should trust your enemies over your families and friends.
'' What if the Prince-''
"What can he even do other than sending dumb assassins and sending me to the frozen lakes to kill monsters?''
I cut her in the middle, I knew what she wanted to say and I had no interest in hearing. She said nothing after that and left after I finished eating. What a crazy life I have!
From the window over my window, Moonlight brightened up my room. Going under sheets, I let the rail of thoughts to calm down, my eyelid started getting heavy as my mind relaxed a little.
Will my life ever be different? I wonder, I wonder and I will keep on wondering till the day I die.
