Chapter 3 - Lost in another world... (2)

The sun had set and the moon was slowly rising. The light was bright enough that I could see around the cave without having to turn on my cell phone light. The sound of insects also began to accompany the silence of the forest.

I hoped there wouldn't be any wild animals coming here. Honestly it's a scary situation, ghosts look better than tigers or a pack of wolves right now. I picked up some wooden sticks with a diameter of 10 cm just in case.

I sat on a rock beside the mouth of the cave and looked up, the stars were clearly visible from here. It's different from the urban atmosphere where the starlight is eclipsed by the lights of buildings lined up high. It's a sight that soothes my mind for a while before I'm confronted with the fact that I'm currently in the middle of nowhere.

I wish I could at least inform my parents that I'm temporarily unable to fulfil their invitation. I'm not even sure I can survive the current situation. Even if there was a compass on my cell phone, where would I go? West, east, south, and north are all the same, I don't know exactly where I am right now.

While thinking about the things that were on my mind at that moment, several figures suddenly appeared beside the forest trees. But that's...

Small? Huh?

There were several of them, one, two, five! Five small creatures that were about the size of a 1st grade elementary or middle school boy. They noticed me and started to get closer. I was quite worried about this situation, so I grabbed my stick and backpack just in case. After we were about 5 meters away, I could finally see them clearly.

The creature was green?

Its ears were slightly pointed and the sclera of its eyes were yellow with slightly red irises and pupils. *note: The sclera is the white part of the human eye. The pupil is black and the iris is slightly brown. Different for each human race. You can check it on gugel.

What the heck is that? Are they some kind of forest ghosts? Hey wait, they're carrying knives!

This is not good!

"Human!"

They suddenly shouted and lunged towards me.

I got ready to try my best to survive. Two of them advanced from the front while the others tried to surround me from the right and left, while the other one was still standing behind the attackers. I wasn't sure but it didn't seem like a good thing.

I've never been in a fight with someone carrying a weapon, but I should be at an advantage judging from the type of weapon they're using. The wooden stick I carried was quite thick with a diameter of 10 cm and a length of about 1 and a half meters. What I was worried about was that if they threw it while I was off guard, it wouldn't just be a mere scratch.

I tried to take a stance swinging the stick from the lower right side like a baseball bat, hitting the hand of one of the attackers and knocking the knife out of his grasp, while the other attacker actually threw the knife at me. Fortunately, I was prepared enough and twisted my body so that the knife was blocked by my backpack.

Two weapons down, I hit one of the attackers in the head with a punch from the side, twisting my body back around to swing the stick as hard as I could at the attacker. A crushing blow to the head! One of the attackers who moved from the front had no time to dodge and collapsed instantly. While the other one managed to dodge and was about to run away, I wanted to catch up but the attacker from the left side started to advance and swung a knife at me while the right one moved jumping as if to stab towards my thigh.

Trying my best I jumped backwards to avoid the stab from the right and I threw my stick to block the upper swing of the attacker from the left. I managed to dodge the knife from the right and instead stabbed the other attacker from the left. The creature fell to its knees with blood flowing from its chest. Not wasting the opportunity I hit the attacker who failed to stab my thigh. Three enemies were already down, and the one attacker from the front had managed to retreat towards the last creature that hadn't been attacking. Just as I thought I was about to win, a fireball suddenly appeared in my direction.

Waaah!

I was lucky, dropping down had saved me from the worst. That's hot! That fireball is hot! At least I'd get burned pretty badly if I got hit by the flames. It's not like fireballs in games or movies that suddenly disappear if they don't hit the target. The rock wall beside the cave became black in colour because of the fireball.

This is not good! If I run forward towards the creature that threw the fireball earlier, there's a chance that it will still throw it again or that it's the only fire attack. It's not wise to try to fight against someone you don't know what they're capable of.

I must run!

Getting back to my feet, I took my stance and ran straight into the forest in the opposite direction of the attackers. They didn't chase me, nor did I get shot back with fireballs while running.

Relying on the moonlight for illumination, I ran as fast as I could.

Damn it! What the hell!
