Chapter 5 The Task is Here!

The second day has started to a smooth start.

The sky gradually becomes brighter as people start waking up one after another.

Those who had risen early began to pour into the street as numerous food stands and vendors had already opened for business. Yesterday's solemn and anxious atmosphere began to ease as people started their new day.

Looking at these people, Ceid was impressed with their outlook on life.

He was sure that deep inside their heart, they were still worried about the approaching danger. It's not like the threat had been eliminated. But they still retained their positive mentality that was worth appreciating.

Just by looking at the delicious food and smelling the aroma they were releasing, Ceid's stomach started protesting.

"Wyd, could you hack into the system now?" he asked the system.

[Ding]

[Determining Host's mental strength...confirmed]

Hearing Wyd's confirmation, Ceid was ecstatic. With sufficient information, he could immediately start performing his task.

He immediately said, "Confirm."

"Oh! Also, while you are at it, please find a way to create a file for my official identification in this world. Of course, without violating the code of conduct."

In the last sentence, Ceid heavily emphasized each of his words. It would be a problem if he got demerits for such a trivial matter.

[Ding!]

[Host's instruction had been confirmed.]

[Determining mode of connectivity...]

[Accessing the network...]

[Accessing geographical information record...]

[Accessing astrological information record...]

As various prompts appear in Ceid's head, his mental strength begins to deteriorate again.

It appears that, in the next few days, I have to prioritize remolding my mental consciousness over restoring my strength. Otherwise, I would be tortured every time I use Wyd.

He knew that his mental consciousness was fragile since being injured. But he never thought even after restoring some of his mental strength, he would still experience excruciating pain.

In the meantime, Wyd continued to access the network.

[Accessing historical and archeological records...]

[Preliminary investigation has been completed.]

[Proceeding to complete Host's additional instruction.]

[Analysing the local law and regulations... Creating an artificial background for the Host.]

[Accessing the National Public Security Department... Applying.]

Is it my imagination, or somehow I hear gloating in her intonation?

Although Wyd's words seemed proper and official, that intonation...

Well, forget it. As long as she is happy, Ceid thought to himself.

As an Integrated AI system, Wyd's spoken words had always been official. She rarely, if there's any, uses casual speech. But the intonation in her words would betray her emotions. It was to be expected from her since she was the user interface and main program.

Of course, it was a different story with the system prompts. The system prompts that only focused on processing, executing, and recording given commands always had a mechanical tone despite using Wyd's voice.

"Cough, just in case, I need to ask. What sort of background did you create for my identity?"

"Wait, Wait! Don't tell me in this story, I had a childhood fiancee who noisily broke up the engagement. Later, I began to travel and drift about without abode until reaching this city?"

I knew I shouldn't have asked, he said, sighing.

Ever since Wyd had integrated with his consciousness, she had access to Ceid's memories. Thus, she had access to all his memories from when he was back on Earth. The contents of the novels, comics, movies, and various media he had read and watched were not spared.

One of Ceid's black memories was fantasizing about being transmigrated into a cultivation world with familiar plots and familiar ordeal. Thankfully, there's no such thing as several years' promise or various face-slapping incidents.

"Anyway, is there any update on my task list? Since I have arrived in another world, they should have released my duty for this trip."

It appears that he had severely underestimated his situation. Since the primary system of the Sord Interdimensional Network had interceded in his case, the Draconian Assessment System could no longer interfere until the necessary report had been submitted.

Without hesitation, Ceid confidently said, "Submit the report."

Well, he had nothing to hide. And this was probably the standard convention whenever a new unknown world was discovered.

[Ding!]

[Host's instruction had been confirmed.]

[Sending compiled report to the Sord Interdimensional Network...sent]

[Confirming feedback from Sord Interdimensional Network...confirm]

[Updating the current positioning...]

Planet's coordinate: Blanc Planet, Zeta System;

Star's coordinate: TzRs-4328;

Galaxy's coordinate: Mky-1023;

Star Field's coordinate: SRF-2203.]

[Updating local information...]

[National Language: Mezan language.]

[Universal Language: Ancient Blanc Language.]

[National Currency: Meza Dollar]

[Major Trade Currency: Elyr Dollar]

[Updating local time information...]

[Updating social culture information...]

[Updating....]

[Updating....]

A series of prompts keep ringing inside Ceid's head. At the same time, this information was stored in his mind. He can access this information whenever he needs it.

He waited quietly as the Wyd updated itself with the latest information. Although Ceid didn't know the exact process, he could roughly guess.

Previously, Wyd had already obtained the information needed when she accessed the local internet. However, she had merely complied and packaged the information, waiting to be sent to the Sord Network.

Only after the information had been submitted and confirmed by the Sord Network could it update its data officially.

Finally, when Ceid was wondering how long the update would take, he was startled by a sudden prompt.

[Ding!]

[Several messages from the Sord Interdimensional Network had been received.]

[Due to the achievement of discovering uncharted terrestrial territory, you are rewarded with the «D5 Honorary Pioneer» title. Please check the accompanying documents for the corresponding details, rewards, and privileges.]

[Due to the achievement of first pioneering a new galaxy exploration, you are rewarded with the title «B3 Adventurer Second Class Merit» title. Please check the accompanying documents for the corresponding details, rewards, and privileges.]

[Due to the achievement of...]

[Due to the contribution of...]

As soon as he heard the second message from the Sord Network, Ceid almost jumped and shouted in delight. Nothing could describe his joy at this moment.

He never expected that he could be rewarded with a second-grade title. And a B3 title at that.

The 'Adventurer Second Class Merit' is a second-grade third-rank title.

Obtaining a higher grade title gave the recipient various privileges. But for Ceid, it affects his Sord Strata Level and his rights to move and relocate to a higher civilization world.

Otherwise, with a G-class grassroots identity, he could only travel to those worlds as a tourist or expatriate.

Most importantly, his Sord Strata Level improvement would mean he could gain various other social perks that were usually inaccessible to someone from Earth.

The Sord Strata Level is similar to the one's social status on Earth.

Initially, it was designed to differentiate the jurisdictions and permissions for Sord Network usage. But over time, it had evolved into the only standard for managing and evaluating privileged recognition and titles.

Although those in an advanced and superior world no longer have caste, slavery, outcast, and various derogatory status, it does not abolish the privileged class. Moreover, problems arise when standardizing the recognition and reward system for the people.

After all, each world has its respective legislation and culture.

Thus, the Sord Strata Level was improved to provide a transparent implementation process and ensure fairness.

But, after he was celebrating his joy, he quickly calmed down.

These perks and privileges would usually be applicable if he were in other known worlds.

In his current situation, it was inconsequential.

It does not change the reality that he was stranded in this world. He cannot leave this world until he completes his duty or withdraws from the assessment.

However, he lacks the funds to retake the assessment. Furthermore, he doesn't want to take his time saving up money before retaking another assessment.

At this moment...

[Ding!]

[A new prompt from the Draconian Assessment System was received.]

[Draconian AS: Candidate's world setting had been received. Necessary adjustments had been made.]

[Releasing Task.]
