After the meeting was done, Yuta rushed to his room in the agency to find out what Rika was doing, only to discover that the girl had long fallen asleep due to boredom.
He saw her sleeping on the floor with her head resting on a stuffed toy he had bought for her and just sighed.
'I can't stay with you all the time. Sorry, but I don't have any other way for the time being. At least back home, I could play some video games or cartoons to keep you entertained, but here we don't even have a TV,' Yuta muttered under his breath. Though he wasn't complaining, as getting a room here was more than enough for him. After all, he was staying at the agency for free.
He bent down and picked up the sleeping girl to put her back on the bed. While picking up the toys, he suddenly found something quite interesting.
It was a stuffed toy, but not just any stuffed toy—it was a yellow rat with a lightning-shaped tail and red spots on its cheeks.
This was none other than Pikachu.
Seeing this, Yuta couldn't help but smile. The reason for his smile was that Pokémon didn't exist in the MHA world originally; it was he who introduced it here. He had made comics out of the TV show he watched back when he was on Earth.
And just like in his original world, the Pokémon franchise was a hit here as well. He still made enough money from it, or at least he should be getting enough money from it and all the other work he does.
'Thanks to Grandma, no matter how much I earn, I can only take out a certain amount unless it's an emergency. Though I live alone, I am still being looked after by people Grandma knew.
So, I don't get full access to my money until I am at least 20. That sucks harder than my neighbor's wife, believe me, I know it does.'
Pokémon wasn't the only franchise from which he earned novelty. He introduced many other works to this world. It's all under the name of Kozuki, his grandmother's name for now, and will be transferred to him once he turns 20.
Sigh.
Though it was irritating, he couldn't do anything about it. He could just smile while holding the Pikachu stuffed toy in his hands.
Then it suddenly hit him.
"I can bring back my work from home for her..." Yuta thought, perking up. He had many ideas and rough drafts lying around at home.
From shonen works to slice-of-life stories, he had poured all his mind's content into making comics and writing them down so he wouldn't have to worry about coming up with content later.
"Well... it's not like there will be any patrolling work given to us until they find where this Overhaul guy is keeping Eri, so I have time.
Not to mention, I was
planning on going back and going through my grandma's stuff anyway. It's about time..." Yuta decided. Though he still wasn't sure what he would do with Rika when he went out, he would think of something.
Maybe take her with him, but that would be too troublesome. He wasn't going to a park; it might take hours to find what he was looking for in that place.
"Sigh, if only Grandma agreed to use the money I earned to save that old place of ours," Yuta muttered with a little disappointment.

Once he decided, he put Rika to bed and told her that he was going out for the night. He assured her that if she woke up, she should give him a call, and he would come as soon as possible. Yuta believed that going back to his place under cover of night, when most people wouldn't notice him, would be better. So, that night he went out.
Instead of taking public transport, he decided to use OFA to bounce around the city.
And indeed, he was faster that way. In just under 30 minutes, he reached home.
"Home sweet home." Yuta gave a customary dive onto his couch before getting back to why he came here.
The first task was to find his grandmother's belongings and then start searching for any clues about his childhood and things he had long forgotten.
It's said that a person only remembers things that are very close to them, things they want to remember the most, and things they want to forget the most.
Maybe that's why he remembers so much about his last life and all those anime, movies, and other pop culture things.
Maybe that's why he remembers the memories he had with his grandmother, and maybe that's why he remembers the difficult childhood he had.
But besides those memories, he didn't remember much, like the few friends he had in school. He couldn't seem to remember them, especially after the fall from the second-story building.
He doesn't remember his own memories from his past life, doesn't remember what his name was in his past life, and doesn't remember how he died anymore.
"Good thing I wrote it down in my diary from day one. But still, the fact that I forgot means those were indeed not that important memories for me," Yuta thought as he went to the attic and brought down everything he could get his hands on to start checking.
"Alright, let's get into it. I have way too much to go through." Yuta couldn't help but purse his lips after seeing his entire hall filled with boxes towering over him.
And he had to go through all of them...
"Maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all."
