Chapter 14 - Dreamer

"----. Hand over the elixir."

I turned, my hand held onto a divine object, a sword made from the core of a still living planet. Their spirit seemed to hum with excitement. At the force of will those gods had taken towards my own person.

"Leave, you are not welcome here and neither are your…" My gaze fell on each and every one of them. They all had varied styles, whether it be metal plates that covered them from head to toe, leather breastplates made from divine and godly beasts.

To bare robes, only a golden shield to protect them from the heavenly radiation.

"You know as well as I," One began, her voice seemingly echoed through the whole planet, for the simple fact that she was a goddess. Her power greater than even this still living planet, "That this cannot be resolved by mere claims."

"And why can it not. This Elixir was claimed rightfully by my own power. By the laws of the heavens the Elixir is mine, property of my own rather than yours."

"And by the laws of heaven I can take it by force."

A scowl rose over my face. For it was not the first time that this same law had been invoked.

"Then so mote it be."

I stood, my hand held to that same sword of mine. A gift from a friend. Who had forged and befriended the deathly planet.

'Give me strength, kaneth'

The name of the planet invoked. The sickness it had endured, forged into a simple blade that fit within my hand. Heavenly energy exploded from my grip. White, the purest white that seemed to engulf the planet with a fury so great.

"I will give thee one last chance, leave, I do not wish to make enemies of Njor."

"Then you should have given up the moment we asked."

The gathering of goddesses moved. With a fury and vigor only matched by my own.

There was a mutter, one echoed under the breath of the lead goddess. Her voice was so quiet that only they could hear her.

But I could read her lips.

"Bladed Art."

A simple slash that gathered the energies within that divine body of hers. Gathered and condensed.

Gathered and condensed.

Until it clashed with itself. Created an encircling eternity. Where the true essence of that technique truly shone.

An infinity, between the slash and me.

In the moments that she had muttered that art of hers. I had curled my finger, delved into the infinity of the void and lengthened it so artificially.

That sword of hers broke through it. But the momentum was halted. Enough for me to take a limb.

Only for it to grow back immediately after.

That art of hers. It had not been ineffective. For the moment in which the infinity had been slashed through, my arm had been cut too.

And this cut was made by one of condensed will. From the star her sword had been forged from, to the godly will she had invoked.

There was no greater will between the two. And with them combined.

I let out a quiet - 'tsk' - let my frustration be known. If I had only been able to do something more. This sword of mine had cleaved through the mountain behind the gods but they had merely swayed out of the way.

"Yin Severing Sword."

The voice echoed a mere moment before the technique connected. My back - protected by the infinities I had created - was torn apart.

There was only one reason why I had come out unscathed. And that was because of my instincts.

"GAH!"

I yelled, spit flew from my mouth and to the ground. But between those two moments I had composed myself further. The sword - condensed planet given an edge - had turned.

My meridians had been severed. But that did not mean I was defenseless, it only meant that the smirk hung upon that beautiful face of hers. It was that much easier to cut.

For she had expected me to fall from pain, to gloat and eat the elixir in the moments between life and death of mine.

Only she could not. As I had taken her head.

"River Sword."

I spoke softly, the aggressiveness had been taken to the extreme. Gone was the peaceful lake that it had represented. A sort of yin and yang.

And replaced.

By the ultimate art, the evolution of such.

Her blood strengthened the flow of my sword. The infinities helped. Brought me closer to the next.

Only the blood that fell from my back, the leaking heavenly energy that came from that same blood.

It slowed me. And soon after I gasped. For a sword was stuck out from between my breasts. Twisted with poison that forced me to my knees.

All around me was supreme destruction. The release of merely three techniques, my infinities, the ultimate basic sword art the first had used, and that Yin Severing Sword.

They had rendered all life on this planet null and void.

A devastation all for that small medicinal ball. Called the ultimate Elixir.

I smiled. One last smile filled with blood.

And swallowed. They tried to stop me. But they were too late.

For I had absorbed that energy. Too quickly and in disarray too.

They were not fast enough, for a second time.

As the heavenly energy within my body ran rampant, an attempt to absorb the ultimate energy contained within that elixir of hers.

"Damned Medicine Immortal."

Those were my final words. For my body had crumbled to pieces.

And like a black hole, it absorbed all light, all sound, all matter within it. Before it expanded into a force of absolute destruction.

Yet that page I held tightly against my heart. That had not been damaged, even in the aftermath of those destructive techniques.

It glowed one final time, and my soul. That had been overloaded with energy. Was given a conscious choice.

Where would you like to go?

My response was equally as simple.

I merely thought of that friend of mine, who had lamented the loss of her son so thoroughly. Of the dozens of people, I wanted vengeance from. They who had killed me over what should and was mine.

Of those murderers who had taken from me my only joy and happiness. That same friend.

"I want to go back, I want to save my friend, I want to save my friends son. And most of all, I want revenge. Can you give me that?"
