Chapter 47 - Stuck In the Middle

After they finished preparing the ammunition supplies, Theodore gathered them in front of the door on the right side. The people's faces were very tense as they gathered.

Even now, they could still hear the noise from behind the door. Everyone there was agitated; they looked at Theodore, who was preparing to push the door.

"You guys are ready, right?" Theodore confirmed their readiness without looking back. He had to prepare himself to open this door.

"Take it easy. We'll support you from behind." The soldiers could already accept Theodore's presence among them.

To survive in this place, they had to work well together so they would not ostracize Theodore again. Moreover, they already knew how things were in this hospital.

To deal with the massive wave of zombies, they had to support Theodore from behind so that they could continue their journey. It would be difficult for them to clear out all the zombies here.

"We still have to go through this door. I'll open the door right away!" With a serious face, Theodore was already preparing to push the door.

Hearing that, the soldiers behind Theodore were getting tense, and they were holding the gun in their hands tighter than before, ready to shoot whoever came out of the door.

Then, Theodore immediately pushed the door with his foot with all his strength. He intended to stun the zombies behind the door to give him an opening to launch an attack.

As soon as the door slammed open, Theodore heard the sound of growling from the zombies behind it. As Theodore looked at the zombies, he could tell that they were more aggressive than before.

"Don't get too close to me. Keep a good distance, but still help me from behind," Theodore warned the others. For some reason, he had a bad feeling right now.

The soldiers at the back were pale-faced. Listening to Theodore's words, they did their best not to get too close to Theodore. But from behind, they also raised their fire to attack the zombies that were attacking Theodore.

While Theodore paved the way for them to continue walking, he relentlessly swung his sword to slaughter the zombies.

To keep himself safe, Theodore secretly used his area of protection skill so he didn't have to fear being bitten by the zombies.

As long as the soldiers didn't know what Theodore was doing, he wouldn't hesitate to use his skill.

There were loud gunshots in the area, and black blood was splattered around them. The sound of Theodore's sword slashing did not stop. Every slash he made would definitely blow the zombies' heads off.

Unlike the previous one, this time, the number of zombies continued to grow; it didn't even feel like it was decreasing. Even Theodore couldn't walk forward to open the way; they were stopped at an intersection, which made their situation very tense at the moment.

"Oh my, it looks like we're trapped!"

"Should we go back to the door?"

The soldiers voiced concern. Theodore was also confused because they were trapped entirely among these zombies.

They couldn't stop shooting as the zombies kept coming towards them. Theodore thought they should secure themselves first because it had been almost an hour since they kept killing the zombies.

Theodore also realized that the soldiers around him were already exhausted; inevitably, they had to find a place to hide before returning to face these zombies.

"We can't stay here forever. We have to find a place to hide," Theodore said as he shouted for everyone to hear.

"You're right, but where should we hide?"

Everyone was silent when they heard that question. The problem was where they could find a place to hide.

"It looks like there's a room around the corner!" The voice of one of the soldiers shouted.

"Where?" Theodore frowned curiously when he heard that.

"On the left, I see a room. It looks like we can hide there for a while."

Theodore glanced in the direction the soldier indicated, and he saw a room there; it seemed like there was no harm in checking that place.

"Alright, we're moving there. I'll open the way; you guys go first, and I'll guard the back." Theodore explained what they were going to do this time.

Theodore felt that this was the right time to use his new skill to open the way for the soldiers to walk toward the left side.

"Vanishing Strike," Theodore muttered the name of his skill, and he felt the power in his sword increase dramatically.

In addition, Theodore felt that his vision was clearer, and he could see the weak points of the zombies.

Theodore quickly swung his sword at the zombie's weak point, then the group of zombies in front immediately exploded.

After that, Theodore also got a buff that increased his attack speed for a few moments. That was when he coded the soldiers to move to the left.

Fortunately, they were able to move smoothly. Theodore stayed behind to hold off the zombies coming from the front.

"One person tries to open the door to the room, and another person prepares to shoot if there are zombies in the room. The rest of us guard the zombies from the back." Theodore explained their plan again.

"Alright."

Then, they immediately assigned two people to open the door while the rest guarded the zombies from opposite directions.

When the door was opened, there were a few zombies in the room, but luckily only a few, so at least one person could handle them.

After making sure there were no more zombies in the room, they quickly went inside. Now, only Theodore was left who hadn't gone inside yet.

Theodore had to endure the massive wave of zombies coming towards them. He gritted his teeth hard, then swept his sword forward and made the zombies in front of him sweep back.

Not really thinking about what happened, Theodore quickly took advantage of the situation to enter the room and lock the door.

Finally, they could breathe a sigh of relief for a moment after they had all been able to enter this room.

One by one, they sat on the floor with exhausted faces. Theodore also sat down behind the door. This wave of zombies was indeed very dangerous.

Even Theodore did not realize that he had a notification from the system. He only focused on surviving. Now, when they were relaxed, he just realized that he had a new notification from the system.
