"Gone! She is gone!" Penelope sneered. She couldn't believe that with her lying in front of her family with a slow poison inside her body that was slowly eating her life away, they cared about that lowly woman who had ruined her life.
If only she had never returned, if only her mother had her wits intact, then she would have killed that woman when she was in her cradle; that way Penelope would have never suffered this humiliation and pain today.
"What do you mean, Penelope?" Theodore sensed that there was something amiss. He stared at his adoptive daughter and questioned again, "Where is Ariana?"
