'This couldn't be happening,' Ari thought to herself, a drop of sweat trailed down the side of her temple as she raised her hand and pinched the space between her brows.
"Is that all you have to say, Miss Ashford?" Ari asked with an annoyed sigh. She knew that getting involved with Nicolai was going to be troublesome.
But she never thought that a few hours of letting her temptation and irrationality take over her sensibility, were enough for her to feel the bitter bite of reality.
Penny frowned upon hearing the annoyance in Ari's voice, as this was not what she had prepared herself for.
She had thought that Ari would be angry enough to hit her, maybe scold her with harsh words and tell her how she was crossing her limits.
That way, she would then prove to her brothers and Nicolai that Ari had a face that she hid from everyone and was not as innocent as she made herself look.
