"You know, I knew that your mother ate something really, really wrong when she was pregnant with you," remarked Nicolai while glaring down at Penelope. "However, I never knew that she drank several toxic chemicals mixed together like a cocktail. What the hell are you even talking about?"
Penelope turned around and looked at Nicolai with her eyes brimming with tears. She said to him, "Do you think I am wrong too, Nico? I thought you would understand me. When we were young, you promised me that you would bring me a heart and help me get better."
"You said I was a funny and amusing girl, and it would be a shame for me to die."
It took three damn whole minutes for Nicolai to remember this promise, and it was damn tiring and difficult with Ariana staring at him from behind.
And once he recalled that particular memory he wanted to curse. Which by the way he did after two seconds —
