However, two seconds later the weight on her back disappeared. Ariana, who could only hear ringing in her ears, heard a worried voice calling her name,
"Ariana—Doctor Harlow, can you hear me?"
"Ai—Aiden?" Ariana croaked feeling as if her voice box had been smashed before being haphazardly put together. She blinked her eyes but could not see anything because of the blood covering her eyes.
"It's me," Aiden heaved a sigh of relief. He helped Ariana sit up straight on the floor before taking out a handkerchief from his coat's pocket. "Sit still, okay? Or else the cloth of the handkerchief will poke you in the eye."
Ariana hummed as she closed her eyes and let Aiden clean the blood that had dripped down her forehead. She winced when the man pressed the soft fabric of the handkerchief against her injury.
