"Oh, sweetie," Inez chuckled with a hint of sympathy. "You are right; I did teach my son to respect women. But you forgot a very important thing—I taught him to respect women who deserve it."
She shook her head in Inez's face as she softly mused, "But a woman who blackmails him into marrying just because she is too scared to stand up on her feet and face the obstacles in front of her? No. I will never ask my son to respect a woman like that."
"So, never think that," she tapped her ring finger. "The ring on your finger will be the end of everything. My son cannot be restrained unless he wants to be restrained and believe me when I say this, Penelope. You don't have what is required to keep my son."
Once she was done speaking, Inez smiled at Penelope and walked out of the office. Her heels clicked against the floor and each tick pierced through Penelope's heart like a sharp dagger.
