"Get away from me!" Penelope shrieked when she saw the woman approaching her with the makeup box. "Nicolai! Stop this; you cannot treat me like this. I already told you I made no such claims in front of this woman. So why do you insist on insulting me like this damn it? We have been friends for so long! You and I grew up together. Do you not know me?"
Nicolai wasn't moved by Penelope's words. He said to her, "I am doing this because I do know you, Penelope. Don't think that I don't know about the things that you have done to those women whom I was with in my college days. I never paid any attention to you because those women never meant anything to me."
His eyes narrowed as he stated, "Maybe I should have—at least that way, I could have squashed this boldness of yours before you could hurt, Ariana."
