She turned around to face the door, but when Ari didn't hear anyone move she frowned. Was she imagining things again? Given that she did wake up in a cold sweat after having nightmares and the things that she saw with open eyes —Ari wouldn't be surprised if she started hearing things as well.
But that was until she noticed the shadow lurking in front of the door through the small gap.
Ari swallowed. For she knew that it was not Nicolai, he hadn't replied to her message, something he never did — even when he was angry with her, he would make a point by seeing her message.
And if it was him, he would never stand outside the door and make her panic as he knew that she didn't feel comfortable with surprises or jumpscares.
