"This is." I started to say before looking closely at the words.
After a few moments of silence I began to speak.
"I have no idea how to read this." I said looking over the ink on the paper. It was a bunch of squares ad triangles with dots in random places. I don't have the slightest clue if this is a secret message or just nonsense someone wrote to mess with us.
"Do you know what this says?" I ask Blood Stalk not expecting anything.
"Tower..." Blood Stalk replied while pointing to one of the symbols towards the end of the line.
"Tower hun?" I said as we turned our head down the street leading to the tallest building in this city.
"My best guess is that whoever paid for our bail wants to meet us at the skyscraper." I reasoned with the limited amount of information given to us.
"Do you want to go there?" I asked.
They nodded our head and decided to put away all of the things we had in hand.
"Not like we have anything else to do so. Might as well look around while we're at it." I said as we began to walk away from the wall we were thrown out of.
We began to walk down the very open path as the street lights glow an orange hue over the rock.
"This place is surprisingly quiet. Its really eerie." I looked around and see nothing
"Well, at least we made it to the city of monsters, I kind of excepted there to be actual creatures roaming the streets. As far as I can see there are only people. Very few for how big this place was." I commentated as we walked by a few people keeping their distance from us.
"No... monsters." Blood Stalk said quietly with a sad sounding voice.
"Don't worry, I sure they are lurking around somewhere." I said somewhat sarcastically. After all, I doubt that this place got that name for no reason.
"..." Blood Stalk didn't say anything as we continued to walk forward.
"Besides, if they don't have any monster or phones here then there would be no reason to stay. Not sure where we would go though. Maybe back to Melen, they had plenty of monsters there from what I could tell." I said trying to cheer them up.
"Yes... " They said very seriously, like they got a little motivated from what I just said.
.
I continued to look around the now lit up street with people walking around.
Most didn't even want to look at us for some reason and even crossed the street to get further away from us.
I didn't really get it until I looked down and notice that we are still covered in blood.
"Ah, That's probably it. We really need to take a shower soon." I said out loud figuring out why everyone was avoiding us.
We started to pass by places we were before. The green and white building we fought the guards at with the lights turned off. A little further was the sign that we flipped over and after that was the street we ran through with the tents packed away leaving nothing to see in front or behind.
It was like a totally different place even though we were here just this morning.
Finally, we reach the start of the tower and if front of it was a stone fountain spraying water.
The fountain has botches of green all around it with the lights of the street lamps illuminating through it. I reach out to the water and don't feel any of it with our right hand. It was rather uncomfortable, not felling anything.
We stood in front of the water fountain for a few moments before walking up the steeps to the tower.
.
Once we make it to the top we sit down on the stone steps with our legs spread out
"Well, were here." I said taking a better look of the surroundings as we wait to see what happens.
A vast sight of orange lights illuminated the windows of buildings and the shadow that people were making as they walked around. The moon out in front of us with stars in strange orders that I didn't not recognize.
.
"Guess this city has its bright sides as well." I said to myself while forgetting the troubles we had through the day. Though we had already seen this view up above in the sky, seeing it in the night on the ground made it feel so much more. I can't even express the words. Colorful or otherworldly are the closest words that came to mind.
The sound of the fountain pushing water up then letting gravity bring it back down. The distant hums and foot steps of people marching in an incoherent rhythm, but still somehow sounding like there was a meaning to it.
'There were many things we could be doing right now, but stopping to smell the roses every one in a while helps to rest and reset the mind and stop thinking'. That was something Alex said before he went on a trip a few years ago. I didn't really get a lot of his sayings at the time when he said them, I still don't understand how someone can just stop thinking for a moment. But for this second, I might have felt it.
Maybe that was what he meant, he was always more of a 'go on feelings' kind of guy unlike me. I felt a mixture of happiness and longing. I guess being away for so long is starting to get to me when there isn't anything happening.
Blood Stalk didn't say anything as we looked across the horizon. They used our left hand to slowly grab our right hand and interlock them with each other. I don't know why they did that, but I didn't dislike it. We
.
A pair of grey pants brown shoes suddenly block our vision and we look up to see someone there.
We look up and see a tall and heavily muscular looking guy has appeared before us.
They had rust-colored hair and eyes and were wearing a dark blue sleeveless top with red pectoral and a collar-like part. I also see two tuffs of hair in the shape of half circles on the sides of their hair.
"Yo." I said to the person blocking our view while they stare at us without saying a word.
"Follow." Was all they said as they turned and walked towards the skyscraper.
"I guess that's the guy, or maybe some one who works for them." I said thinking about whether or not we should follow this stranger into the tower.
I noticed a gigantic sword on his back when he turned around. It was practically the the size of their hole body and they are walking perfectly strait.
"We should probably go with them." I said to the both of us.
Blood Stalk stood up and followed the giant so I guess they think its ok too.
.
We follow the giant to the tower and go inside a metal with rope attached to the top of it and it starts to pull us upward.
"Pretty old elevator you have here." I said trying to start a conversation with the giant.
They don't speak and only stair at us which is unnerving. Do they have a problem with us or is it my imagination?
When the elevator stopped we got off and walked down a hall way that had marble interior. The walls were maid of stone and there were lots of marble looking pillars, old paintings, and silk curtains all along the walls.
The windows of this place seemed to be either cracked or broken Bits of broken glass were being picked up by people lining the path while looking at the giant and us. I could see the hostility in their eyes when they were staring. I think everyone here hates us for some reason, though I can't think of any reason why.
The giant open a door and inside was what looked like a bathtub and a shower head.
"Clean yourself." They said with an annoyed voice before closing the door while staying in the room.
We walk over and I noticed that there were no valve for hot or cold water and couldn't find any switch to turn it on.
"How does this work?" I asked which got me an annoyed glair in response.
"The crystal in the middle." he said while pointing to the center piece.
The giant walked over and put his hand on it. The gem glowed blue before water started to fall out of the faucet.
The water washed over us and the dried up blood started to sink into the drain.
After we got all of the blood we grabed a towel to dry ourselves before leaving the nice bathroom.
We continued our walk until we came to a gigantic pair of doors.
"Lady Freya is expecting you. Don't keep her waiting any longer." They said in a serious voice while opening the doors reviling a giant room with dimly lit red and black interior. Candles line up the wall suddenly turn on as we continue to walk along. Probably some kind of censer that turns them on when you take a step.
The giant then moves around as and walks ahead to where more giant steps emerged from the darkness. At the top was a large chair and someone sitting on it.
They were wearing pretty reviling clothes of red and black with some similarly colored leaves in their silver or grey hair. They looked almost like a statue with how still they were. Their eyes seemed to be silver, no maybe purple? I cant really tell for some reason. When I looked in their eyes I felt something off for a moment, but it went away before I could figure it out.
.
"My~ Its been a long time hasn't it Mark." They said which confused me since I have never seen them before. Blood Stalk then put up a defensive stance suddenly.
"Who are you?" I asked which made the person on the chair surprised for a second, before putting on a relax smile.
They then started to chuckle a little which further confused me. When I looked to the left there was a giant sword right by our neck not even an inch between us.
"I'm fine Otter. I don't believe they would hurt me." The person said to the giant to which he put away the sword so fast that I couldn't see them move.
"No need to be so defensive child. I am the Goddess of Beauty, but you may call me Freya." They said while twirling her hair a little.
"Freya?" I said in a more questioning tone
"Lady Freya." The giant whose name I guess is Otter said as if to correct my speech.
Blood Stalk turned to look at him directly and I saw our left hand try to move behind our back.
I quickly grabed it with our right before they could grab anything.
"Are you seriously trying to pull something out now?" I asked Blood Stalk.
"Yes..." They replied back without any emotion in it.
"Don't, we are already got in trouble once today and they are clearly someone with a lot of power so lets not try and do anything bad." I said fearing what might happen if we get on the bad side of someone with enough sway to release us from prison.
"
I was about to retort before realizing that Freya was listening to our conversation.
"ahhh." I said trying to think of an excuse for why it looked like I was having a conversation with myself.
"You two really are similar." They said looking down at us.
"Who?" I asked before she tilted her head to the side as if I was the one who said something weird.
"There are two of you in that body, no?" Freya said playfully which made me even more nervous. How do they know that already? Why are they being so calm about that even though this isn't normal? Who are they really?
"You must have a lot of questions. I can answer a few later. IF~ you decide to stay for dinner that is." She then got of the chair and walked towards us.
They came vary close to our face and looked deep in to our eyes. Blood Stalk moved our head away from them.
They smiled more with eyes opening even further. When I turned our head to look at them they returned to a normal smile.
I didn't know what to say until they spoke first.
"Sorry~ While I was looking at you I was reminiscing about my time with your brother." Freya said with a playful smile on their face before walking to the door.
"I see, I get that a lot- WHAT!"
