Its been around two days now and we were about to reach the town that was destroyed by the Cyclops in its rampage.
From these two days I've come to understand the traits of these people I'm with.
For starters the leader of the group named Don was of the knight class with heavy armor that meant most things couldn't damage him much. He had a special skill called double impact that combines the damage done on an enemy into one strike which was very powerful. This meant enemies of even half health was killed, however he said this didn't work well with boss monsters since it could only apply the damage in a certain amount of time.
The second melee person in the party was a thief named Barry. Aside from trap dismantling which was a God sent in a dungeon filled with traps, he was a close-mid range fighter that throws poison knives. This with his speed made him unstoppable on the battlefield.
Then there were the three range people. The archer was a female named Mary whom was a sniper. She had the piercing shot skill and levelled it up a lot and also could scout the place and lure in enemies.
The mage also female was named Jenny was a lightning mage that apparently could use the very powerful lightning shower spell. Besides lightning she could use some fire and earth magic but it wasn't as effective as the lightning shower spell.
The final member of the party was a priest named Michael who had a pretty powerful bluff besides his heal. Each and every one of them went through their second class advancement already which meant they entered the second part of the game which set them aside from other players below level 200.
The final thing I noticed about these guys is that they don't care about me at all. I believe they want the experience and fame that comes with the quest in order to promote themselves. Basically I found out even though I had my suspicions the moment they offered to help me.
Roughly in the previous night....
A campfire was made using some sticks and leaves that were on the ground. Jenny used her fire magic to light it up and the whole group besides me sat near it. According to Don there were some monsters wandering around at night in this area so I had to keep a lookout. This seems a but far fetched but I don't really care if there are monsters or not here.
[They make it very apparent that they're using you]
Well it was mutually beneficial for both sides. I really complain.
[If you unlock the second seal then there's a high possibility that you could kill the Cyclops without these people]
True but using other people is fine once in a while right. Also I don't trust those guys at the information guild.
[Yeah...there's going to be some sort of trap later on. Be prepared]
I know. Also doesn't it seem like the night is a bit bright?
[Its a racial benefit]
Ah, another one of your perks.
[…]
What? Do you know how many ways your existence influenced by body?
[Besides the skills you gained, the ability to detect life forms and night vision right now]
Right now? There's more.
[Yeah, you think something like me can take on God level beings with just that?]
Well...you did have the mana absorption skill which made you ultra powerful right?
[How did you think I contained all that power Eden? Your body collapsed when you used more power than you could handle]
Hmm...that is true so was your body different from humans?
[Not really. I was special kind of human. A spirit container]
A...spirit container?
[A vessel that can hold unlimited power]
I see...and how rare are humans that are spirit containers?
[Think about winning the lottery. And now think about the chance of continuously 5 weeks in a row]
So...very rare.
[Rare that one is born but otherwise not that rare. Another trait is that most of us are immortal in the sense that we regenerate quickly from death though there is a limit]
So that was why you were sealed away not killed.
[Yeah it was useless to kill me]
Isn't that kinda sad?
[Sad? Hahahahahahahaha. How amusing Eden! For that I'll give you a new trick later on!]
"..........hey.............what.............kid........."
Hmm? It seems our friends are talking without us. Time to earsdrop on them.
[Ah it seems your hearing is better than humans as well. Now what about your sense of smell and taste....]
Wait a minute....couldn't you just say that my senses are better than humans instead of saying which was better individually?
[I had no idea which trait would improve or not. Better to not give you false hope right?]
Why YOU!
[Hey your making too much noise. Calm down]
I noticed that I stepped on some leaves which made some sound. I quickly took my foot off the leaves and went around using the night and trees to get a bit closer to the group. Thankfully I didn't need to get that close to them to hear what they were saying. From what I saw with the slight gimps I got when I was moving the group did not move much when I left them for surveillance duty. It sounded like they were talking about me.
"So how are we going to deal with that kid after the quest?" That voice was Mary I think. Was she considering disposing me or something?
"Why can't we deal with the wrench right now? It'll be easy. A slit and she's gone." It looks like Barry wants to kill me now. I mentally prepared myself to fight later on.
"No we can't" Oh! Someone on my side. This voice was most likely Don's. "What happens like the quest gets cancelled when we kill her? Also this quest was made for the kid. She is a crucial key to the quest so we need to protect her until it ends."
"Then what do we do with the reward and contributions?" asked Jenny. It seems this group was more concern about the reward than the quest itself. They must be confident to be able to finish the Cyclops off.
"In the first place can we kill this Cyclops. We are powerful enough to take on normal mobs and special mobs but this would be considered a low difficulty boss monster right?" Michael seems to have some doubt.
I don't blame him. Cyclops in this world are in the level 300 range which means that would be around a 100 level difference between it and the group. Well I had enough. I'm going back to surveillance duty now. I quietly got back to where I was sitting before and slept a bit before waking up in the morning. I noticed that Don was lying about the monsters so I didn't care about the keeping a eye out at all.
Now back to the presents.....
"It looks like the town was occupied by bandits." said Don seeing the smoke and the barricades set up around the small town. "Mary how many do we expect?"
Mary was up on a tree trying to see as much as possible.
She replied with, "Around 30 maybe more."
With that, Don smiled and said, "Good, Eden you stay at the back."
Looks like I don't need to do anything...again.
We all approached the town with little hesitation and one bandit that was on look out shouted, "ENEMIES!" out loud with prompted a loud horn to be blown and bandits swarming out of the town to greet us or rather the group that seemed to be confidence on killing all of them.
I noticed that Jenny that gathering a large amount of mana to use. She was definitely going to use a lightning shower here. She raised her hand up and said, "Lightning Shower" after a slightly long chant.
Immediately lightning rained from the sky and hit the bandits charging at us. I think most of them died during the spell but there were still some that lived. Barry and Mary moved in killing off the remainder of the bandits.
The spell was really powerful but Jenny was only able to use it once per battle since it took most of her mana in one go. I should try the spell out later to see how it is for me.
"Okay lets go. The Cyclops should be in that forest beyond this town. It should be simple to find." said Don as he lead the group through the destroyed town.
He didn't look at the corpses of the bandits or villagers that Jenny killed during her spell. Neither did the other members of the group. Well neither did I but that's not the point! It feels like they don't care if they existed or not. I on the other hand recognise that they existed and ignore them.
[That doesn't make it any better...]
Well don't blame me! I wasn't the one who killed them.
[There's something called empathy you know]
What's that?
[Never mind...]
As we approached the forest I noticed that there were a large number of life forms besides the Cyclops. They were much bigger than insects and small animals so they could either be large beasts or humans. I hope that it was the former.
The forest itself was not that thick. The trees were spread out at the bottom but the leaves blocked out most of the light coming through.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
"Looks like we're right. It is here." said Don out loud.
I still sense there's a number of things here that we can't see.
[Looks like the trap is about to trigger]
Yeah. I might as well use these fools as bait first. I slowed my walking and allowed the others to walk further ahead than me. I made sure I wasn't too far behind but far enough that I could escape any kind of trap thrown at me.
