"Yo, Mokoto Kusanagi, can we talk before you leave?" Kurt Wheeler asked. "Sure, what is it Kurt?" Mokoto asked, then added cheekily, "Don't tell me you're struggling with that racing game again." "Stop bringing up that game please, I asked you one time two years ago!" Kurt refuted. "Stop teasing him Mokoto Kusanagi," Torque Wheeler said, then continued, "Though it is funny," Kurt shouting, "Hey!" in the background, but ultimately being ignored, "we do have a problem we need your help with," Torque finishes. "Don't ignore me!" a certain background character shouts. "I'm interested," Mokoto says with a contemplative look. "I knew you'd be," Torque said as Kurt is being consoled by a non-important background character(sarcasm) named Shirako Takamoto.
"So a while ago we found a full dive game that is super realistic, except for the obvious fantasy elements," Torque started explaining. "The game gives players a lot of freedom, and I truly mean a lot," Torque continued. "Elaborate," Mokoto said. "You can build your own city from scratch in the game if you really want to," Torque explained. "Sounds fun, but why do you need help with what seems like a sandbox mmorpg?" Mokoto asked. "That's were it gets interesting, the game has a server wide plot line that gets progressed when anybody makes progress on it, problem is, nobody has been able to get past the first part of the story yet," Torque replied. "Now you've got my interest fully, what's the name of the game?" Mokoto asks. "It's called Realistica Online," Torque answers.
"I'll check it out since you need help that badly," Mokoto said. Torque smiled and said, "Great, we'll see you in the game then." "See you later then," Mokoto said and logged off. Torque then looked over to where Kurt and Shirako are and says, "You done sulking yet Kurt?" A soft "No." came out from Kurt as Shirako was still trying to console him. "Then you do that, I'm gonna hop off and get some lunch before I play hop onto Realistica," Torque said. Shirako said, "That sounds like a good plan, I do feel a bit puckish." "Wait," Kurt spoke up, then continued, "we forgot to ask him what name he will use." Torque replied with, "Not a problem, I have his number, so I'll ask him." Kurt sighed in relief while a certain person hiding in the shadow realized a crucial problem with her plan. After a bit of thinking, she decided to bravely interact with them.
After Mokoto logged off he then took off the deep dive headset and got on his computer next to his bed. A quick search on the Genesis Revolution System Application and he's downloading the game after thinning out his wallet a bit. "Since this is gonna take a while, I'll go get some food while it's busy," he thought out loud. After half an hour of searching for his wallet, he was finally ready to go outside. Queue him seeing his reflection in the mirror, then a quick shower, new clothes and a quick 10-minute search for his shopping bag, making him finally ready to go outside. Makoto opens the door and suddenly understands how vampires feel. "Really great weather out today," he comments with his eyes squinted. He then looks the door and starts walking to his usual convenience store. 5 minutes later and he is now in the aisles picking out his usual supplies, the list includes things like coffee, energy drinks, dried meats, sandwich meats and cheeses, and a lot of mini carrots, cherry tomatoes, mini sausages and of course, meatballs.
'I think that's everything,' he thought while walking up to the checkout. "Hi Mokoto-san, stocking up on supplies again?" the clerk asked. "Yeah, I found an interesting game that I want to look into," Mokoto replied. "DeathSentence Coffee again? You really make me worry for your health Mokoto-san, not to mention all the GamerBlast that you have here, the rest is just an amalgamation of snacks," the clerk stated. "Hey, at least they are healthy snacks," Mokoto retorted. "It doesn't matter how healthy the snacks are, they are still snacks, and it also doesn't help that you don't exercise at all," the clerk said, and then added, "You really should put on some muscle. If I didn't know better, I would've tried to set you up with my son." "Stop teasing me Momma Mia!" Mokoto exclaimed. "All right, all right, just try to get out more, won't you, you're really worrying me, you know," Mia replied. "No promises," Mokoto said as they headed out the door of the store.
5 minutes later, Mokoto is fumbling with the house key, struggling to get it into the lock for 20 seconds, before finally the door opens and they can go in. 10 minutes of organizing the loot into the fridge and cabinets, and a quick bathroom break later. He is now at his computer again looking at the download progress.
40% complete, 10 years left.
41% complete, 50 years left.
48% complete, 10 seconds left.
53% complete, 50 minutes left.
"Looks like I'm in for a small nap, should only be 2 hours," Mokoto said out loud. One 6 hour sleep later, and he is looking at the screen again.
99% complete, 69 years left.
After staring blankly at the screen for 5 minutes, the download finally finished. And so he messaged Torque, saying that he is launching the game now. He got an immediate reply of a thumbs up emoji. Mokoto then put on the deep dive headset and launched the game. After some loading the game surroundings slowly fade to a starry sky with a rune filled tablet that has the text "START" glowing with a golden colour on it. "Fancy way to start a game, tho a bit old timey," Mokoto thought out loud and then touched the button, causing the stars to turn into lines as the POV moves closer to a certain star. A second later a planet comes into view as the POV slowly comes to a stop and slightly ominous music starts playing. The planet, now clearer, looks just like earth from space.

It then zooms into the planet, showing a thriving city from above with lush forests around it. A soothing female voice sounds out.
"In a world, parallel to our own, modern civilization has fallen…"
The music becomes dark as the city crumples to dust, fire spreads through the forest and black clouds covers the sky above.
"Yet humanity has risen from the ashes, stronger than before…"
The music now becomes hopeful, slightly holy even, as three bright lights descend through the ash like clouds, shining a bright light on everything around, banishing the clouds and putting out the fire. Then, from below the ashes where the city once stood, the figures of humans rose.

"As civilization was rebuilt with the advent of magic, others had also risen with them…"
The music becomes calm, as a medieval style village starts fading in in the center of where the city was and grows, as many motes of light of different colours start to appear in the air.
"Many new races, humanoid and not, started appearing, most with kind intentions…"
Many different villages started appearing in the wide area around the first. Giant ghostly figures rise up from the different villages, showing many different races of humanoids beings, and even non-humanoid beings.

"And thus, it is that peace has lasted till the year 217 P.R, impressing even the gods of the world…"
The scene fast forwards as the music becomes more cheerful. All of the villages expanding into cities, then countries, and finally stopping at kingdoms.

"The gods decided to gift the United Races with blessed individuals to guide them towards the future…"
Many beams of light shines down from the sky as egg like things are going down those rays.
"These blessed individuals are called the "Pioneers of Nova", a name gifted by the Goddess of exploration and discovery, Anjue."
The environment fades away as a silhouette of Mokoto takes the focus with a white light shining from behind it with a rune filled stone tablet above it with the words 'Pioneers of Nova' shining in gold on it.

The POV zooms out, revealing three large silhouettes with a golden glow above his silhouette, two distinctly female silhouettes on the left and right sides of a male silhouette.

Red and yellow lights start shining from the left and right side of Mokoto's silhouette.
"some may scorn you with jealousy, others will cherish you, what you do is up to you in this vast land
and the choices you make shall define you... Now, Who Are You?"
The POV zooms back in on Mokoto's silhouette, then a magical mirror frame fades into existence around it. His silhouette changes to reveal his actual body and character change options appear on the mirror, along with a lot of figures of other races that has his body shape and features.

"Great story and cinematic, now let's see how much I can abuse the character creation menu," Mokoto said. He then started scrolling through the races, while ignoring the gender slider above the character. After some messing around with the many races, such as making an elf with ears that are long enough to reach the floor, rabbit-kin with a tail that is twice as large as their body, a giant with a comically small head, a dwarf with a comically large head, an extremely busty fox-girl(definitely just as a joke), a slim and lithe cat girl(once again, just for the joke), an anthropomorphized female cheetah(he is joking, right?), then a curvy dog-girl with long droopy ears(right?), and finally a fox-girl with 10 extremely fluffy tails after he found the test-run function.
After a few minutes in the cuddle puddle that was his own tails, he started seriously considering which race he wants to pick. With there being seven distinct races in total, with each having their own unique advantages and disadvantages. To summarize the copious amount of information:
Human: Jack-of-All-Trades.
Demi-human: They get a boost to magic and physical strength, and have stronger senses along with their animal like Ears and Tails.
Dragonoid: Basically a demi-human that is locked into a certain elemental magic, has a bit more magical and physical strength, and is able to fly, but without the stronger senses.
Demonoid: Either a humanoid demon, or just a Monster like humanoid. They generally have high physical strength, with there being some that specialize in magic.
Elves: Humans with pointy longer ears, they heavily focus on magic, high mana capacity, better hearing too.
Giants: Big ass humans that focus heavily on physical strength, have a very low chance to yeet someone to the sky box when you miss them and hit the ground near them.
Dwarf: Short human that specializes in making magical tech shit.
Now with that info dump out of the way(more detailed shit in the notes at the end of the chapter), what will Mokoto choose? "First character has gotta be a human," he said to himself with a nod. He got up from the fluff pile that is his tails, almost falls over, and disables the test-run function on the mirror. "I think I should just use how I look, but change it a bit, longer hair could be nice, maybe make the armor and clothes I wear more gender neutral just to fuck with people more," Mokoto said as he changed his race back to human and returned it to default appearance. A look at himself in the mirror, and he decided, "Maybe a bit more definition in my limbs, and a bit taller too." And so he made the hair shoulder length, made the muscles on his arms and legs more defined, added a few inches to his height, then for fun he narrowed the waist a bit and rounded his face more. "Definitely The usual white eyes and black hair," he commented.
His character now looks very much feminine, with a slimmer waist, round chin, white eyes and black shoulder length hair, but he wasn't quite satisfied. "You know what? Let's go all out on this one," he said out loud and then proceeded to make the hair hang down to his waist, his thighs becoming thicker, his ankles thinner, feet smaller and hips wider, he even removed the tiny bit of height he added previously. With a bit more tweaking, his character now had crystalline white eyes, jet black hair, and softer features. He looked so much like a woman that he could become the face of the "Flat is Justice" guild, and yet he has a well-hidden package on him, that can surprisingly grow from a humble 1 inch long, to a monstrous 9 inches, with the thickness becoming 3,5 inches from a humble 1-centimeter width.
"Best character I have made in my life, basically perfect," Mokoto says. After using the test-run function to get somewhat accustomed to the body. After getting used to the movement, he started finalizing his outfit, with tight black leather armor pants that have diamond shaped gaps on the outside of the legs, revealing the while thigh highs underneath, and ending just above the ankles with the final cut out diamond extending around the entire bottom of the pant legs, ending at the inside of the ankle. The black shoes having a 1,5 inch heel and being fastened with straps. The black top piece of the leather armor being on big vest piece that covers from the collarbone all the way down to the hips, then extending into a black skirt that extends down to the knees. The top piece has a diamond shaped belly button window and oval shaped windows on the left and right sides of his waist that reveal the white undershirt, as well as oval shaped shoulder openings that reveal the bare shoulders, and if you look carefully enough, the under arm.
With a pride filled smile on his face, and a after a ten minute test-run to get used to the outfit now, Mokoto finally presses the "Enter World" button below his character on the mirror after choosing the server his Torque sent him. A dark red window popped up in front of him, the edges of it having thorny plants curling around it,, with yellow text saying, "Please confirm the age of your character." With two buttons below it being a green "Confirm" button and a red "Back" button. "Age?" Mokoto asked out loud. He then pressed the back button and found the age setting above the gender setting. He went to adjust it and saw that his character became older or younger when he changed it. Out of curiosity, he changed the age to 16, and text appeared above the age setting, 'Characters below the age of 18 will have NSFW content disabled.' "So that's why they want to confirm character age," he said.
After setting his character age to 21, he presses the "Enter World" button, and confirms his age. A region selection screen pops up. Mokoto facepalms, then quickly asks Torque which region he should join. "I'm glad that I linked my phone to my headset," Mokoto says. He then selects the region that Torque sent him and presses the green, runic looking, "Play" button. A bright light shines from under him, and everything turns white, then a new environment fades through the white as the light dies down. He looks around and sees that he is in a big chapel-like building, with him standing on a triangular altar below a podium, but above rows of chairs, being in clear view of the person that seems to be conducting a sermon and a large audience that is now staring directly at him. The silence lasted a few more seconds, before the preacher regained his bearings and said, "Our Faith has been Rewarded!!! The Gods Have answered us and this Pioneer Is Proof! They Must be a sign from our gods above!" causing the audience to start cheering. Mokoto could see tears of joy coming from a large portion of the audience, and it threw him off, 'Are those really npc's?' he thought.
The preacher then walked down from the podium onto the altar, and asks, "May we know your name, great pioneer?" Mokoto felt a bit mischievous, so he started acting more feminine. "My name is Katou. May I ask what your name is?" he replied with a small curtsy. A few people in the audience were tilting their heads in confusion, thinking, 'I thought he was a guy.' The priest kept a straight face while saying, "It would be an honor, great pioneer. My name is Alexria Varnsfiel, but please call me Pastor Alex." Mokoto, or now Katou, was struggling to keep his giggling in as he heard some confused murmurs in the audience behind him. "Thank you for the grand welcoming, I would like to stay for longer, but I'm afraid I have some tasks to attend to," Katou said. Pastor Alex smiles a bit, and says, "Is that so? I heard that the new pioneers always have orders to carry out as soon as they arrive, but I didn't think that the goddess would have a task ready for you the moment you arrive." Katou quickly acted along with this as he said, "That might not be the case for most, but I was assigned the task of assisting the other nearby pioneers."
Pastor Alexria Varnsfiel was surprised at the words Katou said, and said, "That's surprising, usually pioneers have to grow in strength before they receive tasks from the gods." Katou replied with, "The gods blessed me a special set of skills that would allow me to guide the other pioneers further. Though it may take some time, I am the one that will bring about great progress to this world." Pastor Alexria Varnsfiel was amazed at the amount of confidence radiating off Katou, even the audience were staring at him with more awe. As Katou wanted to show off more, he received a message from Torque asking him what was taking so long. Katou decided that he'd had enough fun for now and said, "It seems that the party of pioneers that I was assigned to help have arrived." Pastor Alexria Varnsfiel was snapped out of his stupor and said, "Is that so? In that case, allow me to guide you to them." The pastor then turned to the audience and said, "I will return to continue the sermon after showing the pioneer out, so please be patient." He then turned back to Katou and asked, "Shall we?" Katou answered with, "Yes."
When they exited the temple, there was a group of 2 pioneers came into sight. "Geez, took you long enough Katou," VertiKal(Kurt) complained. "Sup Wilde(TorqueWilde)," Katou ignored a certain person again. "OI," VertiKal was about to start a kerfuffle, but TorqueWilde(Torque) interrupted him by asked, "I see you went all out this time, you did tell the pastor here that you are a guy right?" "What are you talking about? I used a female character," Katou replied. "Sure you did, hey, can you hold this for me real quick?" VertiKal says while holding out a stone. Katou, for the first time acknowledging the existence of VertiKal takes the stone and says, "Sure." The stone then just shatters, making all three observers become confused, while Katou asked, "So what's that mean?" TorqueWilde chimed in, saying, "That means the game can't tell what gender you have." Katou shook his hand clean and asked, "Can we go now?" TorqueWilde then just lead Katou away with VertiKal.
The confused pastor went back to the audience and dazedly completed the sermon. Afterwards some people came up to him to ask what was wrong. And he answered with, "The Stone of Revealing couldn't accurately detect the gender of Katou." Immediately some of the younger men in the crowd became gloomy, with one even becoming distraught, "I was going to shoot my shot there," he whispered, but hope could still be seen in his eyes, cause, just maybe, there was still a chance.

They've never seemed to love anyone until main character appeared in her life, then like a moth to a warm cozy flame, she always finds herself orbiting the main character, and even she recognized that she admires him probably too much. Thankfully she suppresses the cliche Killer yandere urges and is just trying to find her time to shine so she can seduce the main character. She does know a lot, probably too much, about the main character, but unlike the typical yandere, instead of a wall of Pictures of their victim, she only has ONE in a shrine where she, funnily enough, worships him as a god and or goddess who walks on earth. That said, the love interest does believe in multiple religions because she was a theologist for fun in high school. She finds that devoting her prayers to 1 god isn't a good enough show of faith to the "Possible" Hands of fate that rule our land.

Torque is the older brother of Kurt, though Kurt hasn't realized it. While Torque hasn't explicitly told Kurt that they are brothers, he also doesn't try to hide it. Kurt is just a dipshit that hasn't figured it out yet, and only thinks that they have similar last names because they are distant relatives. Torque is looking out for Kurt whenever he can though, cause family and all that shit.
Torque has full trust in the main character, and has acknowledged, although begrudgingly, that Mokoto is better than him at every game they play.
Kurt, Torque and Mokoto are avid players of racing games. they all met in a normal MMORPG(not a VR one), whereafter Torque got them addicted to an online racing game that was decently realistic. They had the biggest crew in that game, but the game sadly got shut down.
Shirako joined the friend group after meeting them in the online college mentioned the start of the chapter. He is one of those people who say that looking good is half of the gameplay and has both a male and female character in Realistica, both leveled equally.

Humans – Obviously its the human unlike normal however they can Be Subraced (if consented after character creation) by Demonoids And other species that can spread their kind by blood pacts and other rituals
Demi-human – Often depicted as a human with animal like ears and tails with sharpened senses this race is harder to play as due to the sensory increase it is harder to control not alot of people play this race much
Dragonoid – Humanoid but with Dragon horns/crest And depending on the type also a dragon tail this race can fly at the cost of tiring out the user if they fly for too long along with their increased strength and magic concentrations / resistances
Demonoid – Demonoids are a General term for a demonlike and/or monsterlike humanoid race that is neutral and has retained sanity and is not feral or evil from the get go
Elves – their elves ... need i explain more ? Similar to humans they can get subraces although due to their high magic concentration this restricts what is available to them though this can be waived if the bestower of the subrace is substantially stronger than the elf being effected
Giants - A Giant can have a subrace like the rest but limited to all dragonoid types or some of the demonoid types though they will lack any mobility bonus for the normal sized variants
Dwarves - Im sure you know this race well already readers... but anyway aside from their usuals this race can get two thirds the size of the tallest human in game at each age They also utilize magic in this world albiet way differently than the norm they use it to make Magi-Tech technologies and Magi-Tech equipments (pronounced similar to Mah-Gee-Tech)
