Chapter 6 - Easy Peasy

Soon after, the group entered the dungeon.

Thrilling drum beats repeatedly replayed in their ears. It was followed by a low sound of music. An eerie tone, followed by numerous screams of fear and sorrow.

Red's fingers calmly clicked on the keyboard. They were just walking through the entrance, yet numerous shadows already greeted them.

As they walked further, the pond of black water greeted them. There were piles of corpses and bones in the middle and on the side, surrounding the whole area.

The Sunken Abyss was located underground.

"Be careful everyone," Blinking Lights reminded them.

Even though the dungeon looked peaceful now, they did not know what was coming to get them.

Red purposely walked slowly. He fell last in the line as they continued to move forward.

Red carefully looked around. It was dark. Burning woods scattered far from each other were the only light source inside the dungeon.

Increasing the brightness of the monitor didn't even help with it.

Yzzy, a player whose character was a mage, used one of his skills to yield fire. He lit up their pathway, creating light for all of them to see their surroundings better.

However, they didn't know that because of the fire, the rest of the shadows lurking in the dark became enraged. They flew in the air, surrounding Red and the others.

The shadow's speed quickly extinguished the light on the ground, making it even darker than before.

"Oh no," Mark's eyes widened. As he looked around, multiple red eyes continued to watch their every moves.

"What do we do?" He asked at the party's chat.

"Let's wait for them to calm down before we attack." Blinking lights answered. However, he still readied his weapon, a golden sword with intricate carvings on its handle.

Blinking Lights was the leader of the team DVYT. His character was a fighter and was known to be an aggressive player. That's the reason why his role was to guard and solo the bottom lane.

"Master Red must be so calm right now hahaha," Yzzy chuckled.

With that being said, Mark glanced at the side to check. His eyes slightly widened when he realized that Red was only looking at his screen.

His right hand was on his mouse, moving the character's point of view. But his left hand was holding the can of cola he brought.

Red was drinking calmly.

The difference between the two of them was surely amusing.

"Red, how long have you been playing this game?" Mark curiously asked.

By what Red was showing, it didn't seem like he was new to the game just like what he said earlier.

Red shrugged his shoulders. "Probably years ago, but I stopped playing," he answered plainly.

When Mark thought that the surprise revelations were over, Red revealed another thing about himself.

"I see, I see," Mark cleared his throat, hiding the shock in his voice.

"Spread out everyone!" Blinking Lights' voice sounded in urgency all of a sudden.

"Woah! Is this the new update?" The amazement in Furio's voice was evident.

The game had just made a seasonal update last week. That's why many changes in the game were yet to be discovered.

When they gazed back at the computer screen, they realized that the shadows hadn't calmed down but rather became more aggressive.

As for what they could remember, before the update, the shadows would calm down after a while of players not moving or minding them.

"Helppp!"

Red, looking at the seriousness of the situation, placed the can of coke back to the side of his table. He quickly wiped the wetness of his left hand on his shirt and immediately placed it on his keyboard.

The eyes of the shadows glowed more in darkish red. At Red's estimate, there were almost 10 of them.

[HP: 3601/3660]

[HP: 3403/3660]

[HP: 3263/3660]

[HP: 3102/3660]

'Shit.'

The group of shadows encircled their group. However, a simple movement has already caused a lot of damage to their health bar.

It was what made the Dungeon hard to clear. The shadows can deal a lot of damage just by going near you.

Red, Mark, Blinking Lights, Yzzy, and Furio all wielded their weapons. They stayed away from each other because the closer they were, the bigger the damage they were getting.

Furio took a moment to cast a simple heal on everyone to regain their lost HP.

"How do you want this fight to be, Red?" Blinking Lights asked before they engaged in the battle.

"Up to you," Red quickly typed out.

Blinking Lights laughed against his mic. "Our strategy right now is not to die then."

All of them laughed because of it.

Just like that Red, and the others engaged in the battle.

The 10 shadows were equally divided among them, resulting in 2 for each member. Even Furio, who was only a support, needed to fight right now.

Fortunately, even though Furio was only a support, he managed to obtain basic fighting skills that could help him.

There were only a few, but shadows in the Sunken Abyss had a special speed. It can also disappear and appear from one location to another, making its moves completely unpredictable to some.

The reason why the shadows got mad earlier over the fire was because shadows were naturally afraid of light.

Using that, Red knew exactly what to do. Fighting the shadows solely with their weapon wouldn't be enough. They need to take advantage of the skills they have.

And he knew the perfect type of skill for that.

Red swayed his black stave. He cast the skill "Wielder of Light," and a ball of light appeared on the golden end of his stave.

Red, with quick speed and great precision, directed it toward one of the shadows that was moving around him.

The shadow moved to the side. However, Red, in just a matter of time, redirected the direction of the light as well.

It followed the shadow, and in no less than a second, the shadow was struck by his attack.

The skill that Red used also had a 1.2-second slowdown effect.

With this, Red quickly ran, jumping in the air. He raised his stave and skewed it through the shadow. It just went past through, but it was the shadow's critical point.

The shadow made a hissing sound, but Red stood still. With another attack, the shadow flew a distance away because of the knockback that Red's attack triggered.

However, the second shadow quickly followed Red, appearing in front of him.

Red had to leap back while drawing his stave to the side, attacking the first shadow with numerous skills of "Blessing of the Sun," which then weakened it and, after a while, defeated it.

When the second shadow cast a black ball of aura towards Red, he quickly pressed his mouse to run to the other side. He ran and rolled on the ground as numerous attacks were thrown at him.

[-490 HP!]

His HP decreased because of the impact of the attack.

'F*ck.'

Red cursed on his mind. Even the impact of the shadow's attack was already that high. He couldn't afford to get hit, as the ball of aura would surely cost him half his HP.

Fortunately, the ball's direction couldn't be adjusted, so it landed straight on the ground. However, it still created a big impact. The ball of aura caused a big hole in the ground as smoke escaped from it.

Red leaped and made his character jump up high using the skill of double jump. He was able to quickly jump to the opposite side, on top of the pile of corpses because of it.

Red reacted quickly. He cast another skill and locked the shadow in place so that it wouldn't have the chance to disappear and appear in front of him again.

He used Purifying Glow, a skill considered to be one of the hardest to obtain. The skill purifies evil spirits and shadows, causing a big decrease in their power and health.

Red placed his stave on the ground. The Purifying glow's effect slowly increased as seconds passed.

After a second, Red moved the mouse in a circular manner. It swirled his stave on one of his hands.

Red's quickly clicked on the keyboard. The golden end of his stave changed from round to a sharp and pointy one.

The sides of Red's lips curved up in a successful smile. He calmly let go of the mouse after he clicked the left button for his final attack.

The shadow gleamed in bright white light as the stave hit its body. Its light gradually decreased, and when the light died down, the shadow had already disappeared, turning into specks of dust that then fell disappeared into thin air.

"That was easy."
