Chapter 28 - Dwarf Friend in Orario!
'Boom—'
After several twists and turns, Ethan arrived at a familiar stall.
He directly threw over a bag containing the loot, all of which he had obtained today.
It wasn't much, but it could still be exchanged for some money.
"Yo, isn't this our 'Goddess's Pet'?"
The stall owner is a guy with a big beard, less than 1.5 meters tall, but broad and strong, a dwarf, a blacksmith of the Hephaestus Familia, a level 3 adventurer.
Ethan met him while selling dropped items and later became friends.
"Whitebeard, this is today's haul, take a look, then give me the money."
In front of this dwarf owner, Ethan doesn't consider himself an outsider, directly sitting down on a chair and saying casually.
"Shut up, I'll say it again, my name is Edward, Edward Hendy!"
"Alright, Whitebeard! I got it, Whitebeard!"
"FU¥&*%..."
Watching Ethan, the dwarf owner suddenly burst into curses.
He couldn't understand the nickname given by Ethan; his beard was clearly black, yet Ethan always called him Whitebeard.
He asked why countless times, but the only answer was that his name was 'Edward'.
This made the dwarf owner so angry, ultimately unable to make Ethan change his mind, he gave up but was still angry about it.
'Gurgle—'
While the other was 'powerlessly furious,' Ethan nonchalantly took a bottle of wine from the side, pulled out the cork, and started drinking.
Ethan didn't use to drink alcohol, but after coming to this world, he found drinking them quite enjoyable.
Especially the dizzy feeling after getting drunk, all worries gone.
Plus, the alcohol in Orario is mostly like beer, then some low-alcohol percentage drinks, a bit like champagne and red wine.
But, for a modern person, such drinks are just like beverages.
"Hey, that's my drink!"
"What are you talking about, aren't we brothers? What's yours is mine, and what's mine is still mine."
Listening to Ethan's shameless statement, the dwarf owner laughed in anger.
"I've never seen someone as shameless as you, but, weren't you kept by the Goddess of Beauty, why are you still coming here to freeload every day."
"Can't help it, the stuff that doesn't cost money is always the sweetest."
"Just shut up, I don't want to talk to you."
Ethan's words nearly filled him with anger, if he were ten years younger, he would definitely kick this guy's ass.
Though he said that, the dwarf owner still picked up Ethan's bag, looked inside, and found common dungeon loot, valuable but not much.
"Killer ant shell, purple moth wing, needle rabbit's tusk, even a hellhound fang, seems like you had good luck today."
Seeing the items in the bag, the dwarf owner said somewhat surprised.
"Not bad, just small money~~~"
"Just shut up~"
This guy, looking not bad, why is every word out of his mouth so annoying.
Then, the dwarf owner started calculating the price, despite their bickering, he really considered Ethan a friend.
Dwarves are very peculiar; they treat people they approve of wholeheartedly as friends, and for those they dislike, they won't even spare a glance.
It's rare for people like Ethan, to be able to casually chat with a dwarf blacksmith.
After all, most dwarves are unkempt, with their temper and character, plus some peculiarities, not many can get along well with them.
"I calculated, your stuff today is worth about fourteen thousand eight hundred Valis, I'll take a loss and give you fifteen thousand Valis."
"Whatever, just small money~"
"Hmph, take the money and scram, this is craft rum, you drank it all, I was saving it for tonight."
"You're getting old, drink less, I drank it for your health benefit."
"Scram~"
The dwarf owner showed no good face to Ethan.
Because he knows, this guy starts getting cocky after someone talks nicely to him. So, he cannot give this guy a good face, otherwise, he might get his face slapped.
"By the way, Whitebeard, do you have any defective weapons here?"
"Hm? What do you want them for?"
"I naturally have a use."
"No blacksmith dares say they're 100% successful, so what you said is nonsense."
"How many do you have?"
"Tell me, what do you want them for?"
"My weapon broke again, buying new is too expensive, better to buy some defective ones."
Hearing Ethan say this, the dwarf owner's expression immediately became serious.
"Ethan, I warn you, in the dungeon, the most reliable thing is the weapon in your hand, in the face of danger, all you can rely on is your weapon."
"Hm? What do you mean?"
"Taking defective weapons to fight monsters in the dungeon, are you really not afraid of dying there!!!"
At this moment, the dwarf owner's voice became louder, even with a bit of a roar.
As one of his few friends, despite being a questionable person, he didn't want him to die young in the dungeon.
"You misunderstand. That's not what I mean. Well, you see, I have a magic that can shoot weapons as 'cannonballs,' like this~"
'Whoosh—'
Ethan immediately demonstrated his skill, the 'door' to Imaginary Space opened, and then a long sword shot out, directly nailed into the floor.
Seeing this, the dwarf owner was stunned.
In his decades of life as a blacksmith, it was the first time witnessing such magic, truly eye-opening.
"But, this magic causes too much strain on the weapon, especially in the dungeon, if I use it a few times, the weapon will quickly wear out, a few more times, and it's basically scrapped."
Ethan spread his hands, complaining to the dwarf blacksmith.
The dwarf owner didn't pay him any mind but pulled the sword from the floor, indeed, the blade was worn out, even the tip had a notch.
Such a method of use does indeed cause severe strain on the weapon.
"I have some junk here. I was planning to throw it away in a few days, since you want it, you're free to take it away."
"Hm?"
Hearing such a 'generous' offer, Ethan was somewhat disbelieving; is this the same stingy guy?
