"Then why didn't you call me earlier?" Kalsie asked, curious about the surprise visit.
"We didn't want to disturb you after what happened to your dad. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you during your difficult time," Emma expressed with an apologetic look.
Charlotte added with a somber expression, "I'm sorry about your father."
"It's okay. You both weren't even here. Let's talk about something positive. I don't want to ruin our time with grief," Kalsie assured them, not wanting the mood to sour.
"You heard him!! I've never been to South Star city before, so what kind of 3D girls are there?" Sam asked with excitement, trying to lighten the mood.
"You good-for-nothing womanizer!! Do you have nothing on your mind other than 3D or 2D girls!?" Charlotte retorted, teasing him.
"Just shut up and tell me already!!" Sam persisted, undeterred.
Intentionally or unintentionally, Sam's question shifted the atmosphere to a more cheerful one.
