Two hours later.
During the previous two hours, they had secured all the ground floor exits and barricaded them. Additionally, Team Two had stumbled upon a water dispenser that still held some water. Quenching their thirst after a long time was a cause for genuine celebration.
After satisfying their thirst, they gathered together to organize everything they had found. According to Team Three, the building had three floors, each with multiple classrooms. They had also discovered a physics lab on the second floor and a chemistry lab on the third floor.
Having formulated a few more plans to protect themselves from the Dead Walkers, they all headed to the terrace.
"Is there anything unusual happening out there?" Kalsie inquired of Nicole.
They stood near the edge of the expansive terrace, which featured a staircase guarded by a door and a small roof above it.
A large water tank loomed on the roof, but it was empty. From their vantage point, they could observe everything occurring outside, including the people on the terrace of their building.
Apart from that, the ground below was swarming with Dead Walkers, numbering beyond imagination. Their loud growls were so deafening that they had to speak loudly for others to hear.
"More Dead Walkers are trying to breach the first building... I don't think it'll be long before they get inside," Nicole replied with concern.
"I don't know what those people are doing over there, but I'm relieved we made the right decision," Kalsie replied, relieved by the fact that there weren't as many Dead Walkers surrounding their building as the first one.
"When do you think the others will return?" Nicole asked. Currently, only Kalsie, Nicole, and John were on the terrace, while the rest were downstairs in the chemistry lab, working on their tasks.
"Don't worry; they're almost done with their tasks. If Bella's idea pans out as she said, we'll have the upper hand against those monsters," Kalsie assured her.
As they spoke, John walked closer to the edge and furrowed his brow.
"What's wrong?" Kalsie asked, noticing his concern.
John didn't respond but continued to frown. Suddenly, a change occurred among the Dead Walkers below.
"GROOWWWLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!"
"What on earth is happening?"
All the Dead Walkers surrounding the first building became erratic and violent. The reddish glow in their eyes deepened, and they turned fiercely aggressive.
'What could have triggered this?' Kalsie wondered.
Typically, such behavior in Dead Walkers occurred when they smelled large amount of blood, but the current situation was different, as there was no apparent source of blood nearby first building's entrance as long as they remember.
The horde rushed straight towards the entrance of the first building. It didn't take long before the door was destroyed, and a massive swarm of Dead Walkers surged inside the building.
"They breached inside..." Nicole uttered in disbelief. Even from their distant vantage point, they could discern the chaotic movement of the monsters infiltrating the building.
"This is bad," John remarked.
Kalsie remained silent, his face somber as he bore witness to the unfolding disaster.
Kalsie shifted his gaze towards the people on the terrace of the compromised building. He could make out small, frantic silhouettes scurrying about in desperation.
He could only imagine the horrifying ordeal those individuals were currently enduring.
Some of those terrified souls ran towards the edge of the terrace, and within moments, a massive horde of Dead Walkers overran the area.
"AAHHHHH!!!!!"
"H-Help!!!! ME!!!!!"
Soon, the echoes of their screams filled the surroundings, only to be abruptly drowned out by the relentless growling of the ravenous monsters. It was an absolute nightmare unfolding before their eyes.
Nicole turned her head away, unable to bear witnessing the gruesome scene. Meanwhile, Kalsie and John remained stoic but with grave expressions.
"Look over there," John pointed towards the edge of the building.
"They're seeking refuge inside those water tanks," Kalsie observed. Indeed, a few individuals had promptly taken shelter inside the water tanks to evade the carnage, but the same couldn't be said for the rest.
"Lucky for them to have so many water tanks on their terrace, while we have only one."
"The ones orchestrating this test anticipated this outcome. We must prepare ourselves, for soon it will be our turn," Kalsie warned grimly.
Kalsie turned to Nicole, determination etched across his face. "Nicole, stay here with the others. When they return, inform them of the situation and urge them to expedite the plan."
"But where are you headed?" Nicole asked with concern etched on her features.
"I'm going to the first floor," Kalsie responded, his gaze unwavering as he moved towards the door leading downstairs.
John, observing this with a critical eye, narrowed his gaze and declared, "I'm coming with you."
"Suit yourself," Kalsie replied tersely, his mind focused on the impending danger.
"Wait Kalsie—!!" Nicole attempted to halt them, but they had already disappeared through the door, leaving her with a sense of foreboding and helplessness.
