Aaron didn't have any reasons to fear those guys. They didn't look tired at all, so they didn't fight. What would be the point of worrying about a group like that? Their city almost fell, and the only thing they did was hide behind the orders of the king. They weren't nervous either, so they probably had some secret routes to escape the monsters if push came to shove.
In any case, Aaron didn't pay much attention to the targets either, so finding their bodies during the day confirmed what he already knew… they all looked like prisoners who spent decades underground. Too pale and skinny… they didn't have any physical appearances that would make them stand out in the crowd… that couldn't be a coincidence.
It took three hours to gather the corpses, and Aaron was starting to get tired of it since it had been a while since he had taken a nap. Even though his stamina was full, it was nice to take those kinds of breaks.
